We rented High Country Lodge for our daughter’s wedding the end of February 2023. The views from the Lodge were beautiful; gorgeous woods and mountain views from the large deck. The 12 rooms slept 24 comfortably and definitely had a warm and comfy lodge feel. The common areas, of which there are multiple, accommodated the Friday night wedding dinner for 50, cocktail hour and general hang out events. The Apres Ski lunch reception the next day on the deck with an indoor buffet lunch could not have been more perfect, and the weather accommodated the deck hangout. Patrick, the owner/chef, cooked for both the wedding dinner (prime rib- a little over cooked, but tasty), and the Apres Ski lunch (mac and cheese, bison chili, a large charcutier board, Swedish meatballs, and pulled pork sliders) was delicious. Patrick also had enough staff available to provide great friendly service. We did hire a bartender for the wedding dinner and brought in our own liquor/mixers.
If we were to make a suggestion to those that might be wanting to rent High Country Lodge for a wedding event, we would suggest you ask lots of questions about what is included and what isn’t, and the price, as we found that most things were add on costs, and the add on costs were mostly over-priced. The VRBO site lists that the VRBO rental cost includes 24 people, and the next sentence says it includes ski passes, but only 2 ski passes are actually included. In talking with Patrick in the early stages of planning, he also said that he would be happy to provide rides for the skiers on Saturday morning to the lifts. This cost turned out to be $150 when some family members asked him for the 10 minute ride. The feeling was if he didn’t want to provide something he just inflated the prices. Our suggestion would be for Patrick to provide a detailed list of what he provides and what the associated cost are, so that you don’t have to go through the game of asking what is included and what isn’t and how much it costs. It made for very uncomfortable event planning. Check out instructions were long compared to other VRBOs, but doable.
The wedding dinner on Friday night and the Apres Ski lunch on Saturday turned out great, and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and the beautiful views and the friendly service staff for the dinner and lunch event. High Country Lodge is a beautiful setting.
