House sits on private 3.5acres of park-like property with 450 feet of creek frontage against mountain backdrop with small pond including firepit. Overall yard is fairly level (slightly sloping near the house which is perfect for snow sledding; 2 sleds available in the carport), frisbee golf net in front yard. Open sprawling floor plan with huge picture windows, high wood ceilings, traditional and wood fired oven, huge outdoor deck with wood pellet grill perfect for large gatherings, separate private patio overlooking creek, 3 bedrooms upstairs including master bedroom with picture windows that sits 10' from the creek offering serenity, great bunk room downstairs with large TV perfect for video games, separate game room with pool table, ping pong table, fooseball table, huge study with dual 21" displays, docking station, printer, high speed internet. Has central A/C and heat, jacuzzi bathtub with picture window overlooking creek, all bedrooms include smart TV or TV with Rocu. There are 2 paved drives leading to the house, one to the upstairs carport and the other to the downstairs bunkroom. Kitchen is fully furnished. Large kitchen table seats 14. All picture windows have side operable windows allowing fresh mountain air into the house. Spring tasting well water right from the tap. Toxic free home (all cleaning, laundry and body wash use non-toxic ingredients).

Nice house with lots of space and sleeping areas. Beds were all comfortable and the 5 bathrooms were a great bonus for 8 adults. Great porches for gathering and visiting with family. Huge lot with nice lawn. Location is convenient to town. Quite a lot of money for 3 days in the summer with no water access and not much of a mountain view. But the host was very good at communicating and the process was very smooth and easy.

The creek and large yard along with the game room provided hours of entertainment. This was also one of the best stocked homes weve ever stayed in. Pots and pans to mattresses and bedding were all high quality and supplies were well thought out and accessible. One of our top 2 favorite rentals! Seating in the living room was slightly limited but the large dining room table gave some extra options and we were very comfortable.

WOW.. such a great place to stay. We only had 2 days but want to come back and make it longer. The host had everything you would need at the house... just needed groceries. The host were always so quick to get back to me for any questions I had and were so nice about everything. Very big and roomy.. and loved the master bedroom. It was very quiet and so close to town. The perfect hideaway

The house was very spacious which worked great for our large group. There was also tons of outdoor space. The large decks made grilling and just relaxing in nature very comfortable. The koi pond was also fun to watch. Our older teenagers loved that it was close to town and restaurants but you still had lots of privacy.

Thanksgiving

Everyone kept saying the stay was like a hallmark movie. Tons of room, space for everyone. Game room was awesome, outdoor fire pit amazing, we even smoked a turkey on their pit boss pellet smoker. Deer were around all day as well as birds. The view from the master is priceless. Book don’t miss out on this place.

Everything and More

We SO enjoyed our stay! Location, cleanliness, well-stocked kitchen, lots of room to dine with 14 of our family. A private paradise but near many attractions in Boone, Blowing Rock, and surrounding areas. Don’t miss Stick Boys for baked goods, Mike’s Inland Seafood, Peddling Pig, Mast Stores, waterfalls and hiking trails or enjoy the front and side porches to relax. Plenty of places for kids and adults to relax, read, make s’mores, play disc golf, or run! We will be back!

Great outdoor space!

I chose this property because of the game room and the outdoor space with the creek. It did not disappoint! Our kids played in the creek everyday until dark and then headed to the game room. They never turned on their video games!! The house is spacious and has plenty of bathrooms. The house is showing some wear, but it was clean and the beds were comfortable. The location is perfect and a quick drive to Tweetsie, the Alpine Coaster, and restaurants. We would definitely rent this house again.

Gorgeous Home

What a gem! 7 adults and 7 kids and this house gave us all of the room we needed plus some. We got lucky and were able to experience snow! Having 3 acres to play was amazing! The property owners were very accommodating and pleasant. We will 100% be back to the Thorny Rose! It has now become my favorite vacation property! We don’t want to leave!

Parents weekend at APP State

We were so excited to stay at this beautiful home for APP State’s Parents weekend. The day we were supposed to go, Hurricane Helene came through and devastated the area. The homeowners, Carolyn and Tom, were very responsive and understanding that it wasn’t safe for us to go. I was so relieved to hear their home was okay. We do hope to visit their lovely home in the future. We continue to keep the people affected by Helene in our thoughts and prayers ❤️

Nice house

Very nice space for a large group. The house is a bit of a maze in the downstairs area. Decor is a combination of very attractive and needing some attention. But everything worked properly and was comfortable. Only have comfortable seating for 5 in the tv area but a really large kitchen table was nice and our group of 10 could all be seated.

Beautiful property close to everything!

Thanks to Tom and Carolyn for being such wonderful hosts! We enjoyed our stay with friends and family for our sons graduation from App State. I was worried after booking this property so late in the game, but it was everything we expected and more. Very close to town, yet you have the privacy and plenty of space to feel like your in the mountains. The stream running outside, beside the property, the diversity in terrain, the pond, the trees, everything was perfect. Tom also offered to go out of his way to return some left items. ❤️ Thank you

My boyfriend and I took a Fall Foliage Camping trip and fell in love with this area - especially after having several people we met along the way say how wonderful the area was as well.

この宿泊施設のオーナーになった理由

The land of the property is what drew us in at first site. The creek and beautiful trees, the seclusion of the area. We did not know until after we purchased it how unique the land is in that it is gradually sloped and mostly usable all year including during the winter months. Most properties have significant slopes. Once walking into the house, the picture windows and closeness to the creek were amazing. We keep the windows open at night so that we can hear the sound of the river. Everything is close! The Boone Brewery, Wineries, great shopping, 3 ski mountains, great hiking trails, white water rafting (Walmart and Lowes even). We are trying out VRBO to let others enjoy the area while we are not able to be here but we plan to retire here in the near future.

The water directly from the tap is what water should taste like. It is better than any bottle water I can buy! We always drive a 5-gal jug with us when we leave to go somewhere else. River, Hiking in my own backyard, soon to have producing apple trees!
