About this property
“Sea Meadow" Oceanfront Cottage: Lighthouse Views and Private Beach
Sip your morning coffee on the spacious oceanfront deck while watching the sun rise over the mountains of Acadia and Blue Hill Bay. Listen to the sound of the waves and shorebirds as you watch lobstermen check their traps in the bay in front of the cottage. Explore the secluded, rocky beach and look for sea glass and shells. Enjoy an evening cocktail and watch the moon rise over the Blue Hill Bay Lighthouse. Count the stars in the Milky Way and bask in utter peace and contentment.
‘Sea Meadow’ is a charming, shingle-sided cottage perched 75 feet from the ocean’s edge on the western shore of Blue Hill Bay. It has spectacular open views of the Blue Hill Bay Lighthouse set against the backdrop of Mount Desert Island. The cottage sits on four acres of land and is surrounded by grass and wildflower meadows. A private staircase provides access to the deepwater shorefront and beach with granite boulders. It is only a one hour and 15 minutes drive to Acadia National Park on Mount Desert Island.
The living room/dining area walls are covered in antique barn board panelling and stone with a beamed ceiling. The den includes an entertainment center that is stocked with board games, puzzles, Roku television, Blu-ray player and more than 80 DVDs. There is a large deck that faces the ocean with a dining table and plenty of seating. The master bedroom has a queen-sized bed. Two additional bedrooms each have a single twin bed.
Brooklin is located on the southeast tip of the Blue Hill Peninsula between Blue Hill Bay and Eggemoggin Reach. It is a beautiful, quiet village that boasts it is 'the boatbuilding capital of the world.' Author E.B. White and his wife Katharine made it their home. Brooklin is the home of many fine boat builders, lobster fishermen, and the headquarters of WoodenBoat Magazine. People come from around the world to attend boat building or sailing classes at the WoodenBoat School. Brooklin is, quite simply, a very special place.

About the host
Hosted by Vrbo Listing 232271

Our family first vacationed in "Down East" Maine when our children were very young. Each of us fell in love with the area and we feel fortunate to spend time in this magical place. Whether sailing on Eggemoggin Reach, hiking in Acadia National Park, or sitting on the deck and watching the ever-changing play of light and wind on the water, we each agree that our time in Maine is "the way life should be."
Why they chose this property
When this property came on the market, we were captivated by the spectacular open views of the Blue Hill Bay Lighthouse set against the backdrop of the mountains on Mount Desert Island.
What makes this property unique
The proximity of the cottage to the water is wonderful. My favorite thing is to get up in the morning before the rest of the family. The house is quiet and I take a good book and my morning coffee out on the deck. I love looking out at the constantly changing color and pattern of the water and listening to the waves lapping against the shore.
