Perfect Spot for a Getaway

  • 5 of 5

We were looking for a quiet spot to enjoy between hikes and visits with friends. This cabin next to the river exceeded our expectations. The cabin has a well-equipped kitchen and is very clean and comfortable. We had plans everyday, but found it difficult to get out early because having coffee next to the river while reading a book proved too inviting. We would absolutely stay here again- next time we will plan time to not leave the property.

Almost perfect getaway

Beautiful location, no doubt, once you get past the locked gate and house; clean the bedroom of webbing and wonder if you're at the right house, be sure to get your confirmation email. The river is absolutely the best part!

Secluded Relaxation

  • 5 of 5

This is the second time we have been to this property, so obviously we love it! The home is well kept and clean and has everything you need to be comfortable, evenings at the fire pit were awesome, hanging out in the crystal clear South Toe River can't be beat. Located near the Blue Ridge Parkway for some of the most beautiful scenery to be found anywhere. Take the time to check out Hwy 80 South if you like beautiful drives. Very secluded and relaxing vacation.

ALWAYS a pleasure!!!

  • 5 of 5

This was our third stay at this lovely cabin on the South Toe River. Our family of four LOVES this place so much. We arrived to a clean and well appointed cabin and took short day trips - Crabtree Falls, Penland School of Craft (where we met a Potter, from Barking Spider, who traveled extensively with the owner, Joe and his wife!), to name a few. We had friends drive in from Asheville and we had a grand time cooking out and tubing and swimming in the river (that is, basically, the front yard of this property!). We look forward to returning next summer and will be sure to book it for more days, as we really just want to take a couple of days and hang out on this property! It is a perfect mountain getaway for a family of four - although one of the beds in the loft is very small (smaller than a twin) and our youngest, 18 years old, no longer fits on this bed. He found the sofa very comfortable! The driveway is steep, but it is maintained very well and we had no problems getting our non-four wheel drives up and down it (we have an Element and a Prius). This cabin is exactly what you would ever imagine a mountain cabin to be - it is private and remote, however, it is equipped with conveniences like wifi and Direct TV. Checking out this morning was a breeze! Just take your garbage, strip the beds, and fill the dishwasher and press GO! The hardest part about checking out was saying goodbye to this beauty for another year! Thank you, Joe for another great time on the South Toe River!!

Delightful, relaxing

  • 5 of 5

Our return trip to this cabin was all we expected. It was quiet, with the constant (enjoyable) river sounds in the background. The cabin is well equipped for both the outdoors and the living quarters. Kids and dogs have a great time as well. The refrigerator failed during our visit and the owner purchased and had installed a new one on the eve of the July 4th holiday - wonderful response. We will be back.
