tom and Vicki purchased this apartment in 1994
We first saw this property in 1994 and immediately fell in love with the location. Being near all the necessary conveniences, but hidden in a quiet tropical valley, surrounded by bamboo forests, running stream, and towering eucalyptus trees is ideal. Our 1,000 foot elevation brings us cool nights, resulting in great sleeping weather. We have lived here for 18 years and continue to appreciate the beauty each day.
One of our favorite activities is taking long walks on beautiful Baldwin Beach, located just 10 minutes away. This beach offers shallow protected coves, great for young children as well as open ocean for those who love the waves.
We stayed two weeks at the Bamboo View Suite and had a really great time there. The apartment was very well equipped, so we didn't miss anything. Everything was brand new. If there was a little 'problem' (i.e. we could not figure out how the TV worked), Tom & Vicky were there immediately to help yet did not impose. Our children loved the horse and loved to give him little treats. The apartment is surrounded by plants and you almost feel like in the jungle: absolutely gorgeous and all you hear is nature. Almost everything on the island is within short driving distance. Baldwin beach is a 15 min drive from the apartment. The beach there is great and offers something to everyone. There is even a protected area ideal for little kids. The beach is not crowded at all. There is plenty of space anytime. We highly recommend the apartment. It is ideal for everybody.
We started our trip in Lahina, then made our way to Haiku. We loved Lahina but my new husband wanted to stay in the "jungle" The ad for the house defiantly made that apparent on it. When we got there we thought it was multiple houses on a lot, not one house with different apartments in it with a shared hallway. The unit was really nice, with lots of beautiful windows but we did not feel overly private. We had a shared driveway below our windows... We also only had a hot plate which was not listed on ad.
Overall we enjoyed our stay, large TV, movies, books, games, and easy access to other parts of island. I guess my only complaint is that the house was shared and not overly private. The owners could defiantly review the way they market their house.
Lovely accommodations nestled in lush surroundings. Short drive to the local sand and surf. We also drove to the Haleakala Volcano less than an hour away. Tom and Vicky are the best hosts making sure you have everything you need! The kitchen is stocked with all the basics making it feel like home. They even stocked the fireplace with Duraflame logs so we had cozy fires on the cooler nights. Beautiful and clean decor. We loved staying here and even met another couple from the Netherlands on their honeymoon as well. Also visiting with their horse made each morning special. We highly recommend staying at the Bamboo Valley Inn and can't wait until our next time.
Everything about Tom and Vicki place was outstanding and they were wonderful host. We have been staying on Maui for the last 8 years and stay at a different place every time trying to find a great place to stay. Now we do not need to look any further as we will stay at Tom and vickis place every year.
Mahalo to the Bamboo Valley in for their gracious hospitality and amazing amenities... It's truly the little things, like making beach chairs and beach towels available, that made our stay easy. The lanai is just gorgeous to take in the Hawaii experience with your morning coffee or meditation. Thank you for furnishing us with this beautiful home away from home. Would DEFINITELY stay here again :-)
We loved our stay at the Bamboo Valley Inn. Every little detail was done to make sure our stay was very comfortable. It is a very beautiful place. I would love to come again next time we visit Maui.
My mom and I stayed at the Bamboo Valley Inn during our visit to Maui. We were impressed with the photos when we choose the place but they do not do justice to the magic of the location and accommodations. There is a lot of room with a living room, full kitchen, outdoor patio (actually two with one smaller), an office, a large bedroom and fantastic bathroom with large tub and large walk in shower. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything we needed. Haiku and the Inn are nestled on the northern (called Eastern on maps) side of the island and we found it easy to get to several popular destinations including the Hana Highway, Haleakala Volcano, Paia (cool small town), beaches and within an easy drive to the Western side with more beaches, whale watching, etc. We enjoyed the solitude to be away from the more touristy areas and return to the sanctuary that Tom and Vicki have put together. Speaking of them, they were very attentive to details, provided spot-on directions and instructions, and overall it was great to be able to rent from them. I would highly recommend this place.
