Overview

About the property

House, 2 Bedrooms + Loft, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6-8)

Custom home built in 2009 on 35 fenced and gated acres. Amazing views of the mountains with one of the best Pike's Peak views around.

Total seclusion yet only 1.5 miles to US Hwy 24 on a well maintained County Road. 6.5 miles from Woodland Park, a town of 10,000 which provides several grocery stores and numerous restaurants and services. 30 minutes from Colorado Springs and Manitou Springs with many tourist oriented activities and shopping. Hike the property and additional 25 acres across the road or lounge on one of 2 decks and enjoy the solitude with plenty of visiting wildlife, including the large Elk herd on the adjacent 1200 acre ranch.

Bag a “14 er” and climb Pikes Peak, or hike many of the different trails nearby. Close by there is world class fly fishing, mountain biking, unsurpassed Colorado snow skiing and white water rafting. You can also try your luck gambling at the historic Cripple Creek Mining District, a beautiful 20 mile drive.

This home has many upgrades including hickory cabinets with granite countertops in the kitchen and both baths, stainless steel appliances, tile and wood floors in living room and kitchen, bedrooms with carpeting, in floor heat, 46” plasma flat screen TV with surround sound (including the deck), Wi-Fi, 2 decks, one covered, and much more.

You're certain to have a wonderful and unforgettable Colorado vacation for just the two of you or for the entire family. This property is shared with another vacation rental they reside 750 yards apart and cannot be seen from each other. You can reserve both homes on the property for a larger group.

We do keep the driveway well plowed of snow in the winter, however the driveway does have a few ups and downs, so we do recommend 4 wheel drive in the winter and spring months.

Yes, it's really that great.

  • 5 of 5

After reading pages of gushing reviews here, we had pretty high expectations for this cabin. Mountain Sun far exceeded them. Everything is extremely clean, well-maintained and up-to-date. From kitchenware to laundry detergent to shampoo and even an Igloo cooler, everything you could possibly need is provided. (Speaking of detergent, you might think doing laundry on vacation sounds like a drag, but... Pro Tip: the convenience of being able to pack WAY less clothing -- especially for Colorado where you need multiple types of clothing -- makes it so worth it.) The welcome book is packed with useful info and local recommendations, and there's even a small video library and some board games.

Outside, the views are every bit as awesome as the other reviewers have said. I highly recommend packing a good pair of binoculars for birdwatching, stargazing, and just staring endlessly at the amazing view of Pike's Peak. The added bonus of two outdoor decks virtually guarantees your choice of sun or shade throughout most of the day. Best part: I've never seen this many hummingbirds in my life. Seriously, the place is like a hummingbird farm or something, and so quiet and secluded that you can actually HEAR them coming before they even reach the feeder on the front deck. If you like beer, definitely make time to swing by the Paradox brewery in Divide to sample their collection of sour and wild ales. This wasn't here the last time I visited the area, and it was welcome surprise to randomly find it.

After five nights, my wife literally teared up when we finished packing to leave. Cheers to the owners for maintaining such a wonderful getaway with so many thoughtful extras. Can't wait to go back.

Owner's Response: Justin, Wow! Thank you for your thoughtful and amazing review! We hope that we can always live up to the reviews that we get and that Mountain Sun cabin is even better than anticipated. So glad you enjoyed your time at the cabin and in the area. Glad you found Paradox brewery (I want to like their beer....it's definitely worth trying, just my taste buds :). Thank you again and we'd love to have you back in the future! All the best, The Eicher's

Great holiday in Divide

  • 5 of 5

My husband, son, daughter and I spent 6 days in the cabin in August. It was the highlight of our trip to America this year.

The cabin made a fantastic base from which to explore the local area. It was very clean, extremely comfortable and well equipped.

The cabin offers wonderful views of the surrounding countryside. We all enjoyed watching the wildlife, particularly the humming birds feeding from the feeder located on the porch. During our stay we also saw blue jays, deer, squirrels and two calves.

We particularly liked the “eco-friendliness” of the cabin. The solar power was able to cater for almost all of our energy needs, although the back-up generator did step in to provide additional power if required.

We would definitely recommend the cabin to anyone looking for a fantastic holiday home from which to explore the many local attractions.

Loved it!

  • 5 of 5

We loved the cabin! It was perfect for our vacation. It had everything you would think of needing, all you have to bring is some clothes, food and yourself! We found everything we needed to cook down to a cheese grater! We had an amazing time, planning on making another trip so we can stay at this place again!

Outstanding Accommodations With Magnificent Views

  • 5 of 5

The cabin, aesthetically appointed with western country decor, uniquely situated overlooking forested areas with meadows. A major highlight is the magnificent view of Pikes Peak and surrounding mountains in the distance. We particularly liked the quietness and the breezes at this time of year rustling through the trees at night and in our windows that kept us cool. Never very far away from mountain attractions we wanted to visit we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and look forward to coming again.

I picked this cabin to stay for my honeymoon because of the amazing view from the vaulted ceiling with the huge 8 window view and the hot tub. It was everything I hoped it would be and more! Also very personable and helpful hosts!
