About the property

House, 3 Bedrooms + TV room, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6-10)

There is an ocean view from every room of this lovingly restored vintage charmer in the heart of the Village. Beam ceilings, tile floors, and breath-taking views of the Three Arch Rocks AND Cape Lookout greet you the moment you enter this cozy beach retreat.

This is the perfect home for a romantic getaway, multi-generation family reunion, or beach vacation with the kids. The warm atmosphere invites romance and rekindles relationships. Just steps away are miles of beach to walk, a great little coffee shop and one of the best restaurants on the Oregon Coast.

Each of the three main bedrooms has its own special appeal, but all have a fabulous ocean view, pillow top queen bed; and tasteful décor. Two have attached baths. There is an open room with two double futon beds great for kids or teenagers to enjoy high def TV/VCR/DVDs, games, and music. Downstairs, adults can enjoy quiet conversation; music from your own MP3 player, IPod, or CD; and cook up a storm in the fully-equipped chef’s kitchen.

Listen to the pounding surf, enjoy sunrise and sunset on the decks, and keep an eye on older kids while they play on the beach. (There is a clear view to the beach to the north and south, but the view is partially blocked directly west.) If you want to keep in touch with the rest of the world, wireless high speed internet access and free domestic, Canadian, and Puerto Rico long distance are here for you to enjoy. And you don’t need to leave your four-legged family members at home. Well-behaved critters are welcome.

About Heather Crawford

My husband and I are semi-retirees in our early 60's; he's a former electrical engineer and investments consultant, and I was a community college administrator. We now live on the Mendocino Coast in California, about 200 miles north of San Francisco. We love coming to this house and are happy to share it with you. It seems to bring out all the wonderful love we have, along with energizing us to take long walks and hikes, but balanced by creating delightful delicacies in the kitchen.

Heather Crawford purchased this house in 1985

Why Heather Crawford chose Northern Coast

I've loved this home for over 30 years, having personally restored every inch of it from an aging 1920's beach cabin to a comfortable and cozy ocean view home. When I lived here, I was one of the founders of the local community college. I lived in this house with my young son in the 1980's and '90s. Many of the neighborhood kids were babysat here while we parents socialized nearby at the community center. If you look closely, you can see where the kids left their mark on the play cubby walls upstairs (accessible only by a ladder) and here and there on the woodwork. To me, these are marks of Oceanside history and sweet reminders of times passed. Although we now live on the Mendocino Coast in Northern California, we love coming back to enjoy this special place. The house became a vacation rental in 2009. My husband and I visit 2 or 3 times a year to help keep things in sparkling condition. Though often we work nearly nonstop, it is a labor of love and we hope you will enjoy our efforts.

What makes this house unique

This is an especially well-stocked and well-appointed home, yet cozy, comfortable and inviting. Definitely not your typical vacation rental. You are close to the sounds and sights of the surf and it's just a one minute walk to the beach for most anyone. The beach at Oceanside is unlike many others. Its long expanse allows you to walk several miles in each direction. We manage a morning walk on the beach every day. In the afternoons, we walk to Netarts and get our favorite Tillamook ice cream, currently Mudslide. No matter how hard we are working, we always take breaks whenever the paragliders or eagles soar by. Every visit, we hike at Cape Lookout and Cape Meares State Parks, have a good dinner at Roseanna's, and drink in the view along with margaritas on the deck. Cooking fresh oysters (only $8 a dozen!) on the grill is another favorite. Nearly every night is concluded in an attempt to get an even better sunset photo than we did the night before.

Great property in an awesome location!

  • 5 of 5

The house location is awesome and it had everything we needed for our weeks stay. The house is in very good condition. Plenty of dishes and kitchen accessories. Easy walk down to the beach. Plenty of bedding and lots of extra towels. We will definitely be coming back!

Enjoyable Stay

  • 4 of 5

The house was very comfortable and the location was great. We had some issues with the overall condition of the home (leaking faucet under the kitchen sink, bedroom window on main floor wouldn't close, some electrical problems, and a portion of the side deck not stable). But overall we enjoyed our stay.

Great location, house shows some wear, so good for rambunctious kids

  • 4 of 5

We had never been to this beach before, and it is truly great for families and kids. Lots of sandbars and shallow water, all very close and easy access. Great rocks, good walking, tide pools at low tide, in a quiet, friendly town. The house shows some age (odd outlets, some work, some don't, leaky faucet, general wear and tear, no cell service inside the house) but it works well for groups with kids. Very well-stocked with towels, linens, kitchen dishes/appliances (but a bit short on spoons), nice fridge and dishwasher. Beach toys need updating; pails would be a good addition. Oddly enough, there are no beach towels. Good communication with manager and owner. Wifi is good throughout the house.

Owner's Response: Glad you had a good time. Sounds like there has been a lot of wear and tear this summer with little time between guests to do small repairs. Was not aware of a leaky faucet nor any outlets that do not work. The manager will attend to that. Cannot explain what happened to the 24 spoons that were there in May?? The house, though remodeled and very solid, is almost 100 years old, so rambunctious kids will take their toll.

Great house, but lots of stairs

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay! Tons of stairs though which can be rough for anyone with bad knees. Lovely view and very well-stocked! We'd definitely return :-)

Great House

  • 5 of 5

Perfect location. The kitchen is well stocked with dishes, pots & pans; everything a family needs to cook. The layout is nice with 2 bedrooms upstairs looking out over the ocean, and one ground level room with ensuite bathroom. This is our second time staying in this house, with 2 families, there is plenty of room for everyone.
