Each of the three main bedrooms has its own special appeal, but all have a fabulous ocean view, pillow top queen bed; and tasteful décor. Two have attached baths, though at least one should be shared with your other guests. There is an open room with two double futon beds great for kids or teenagers to enjoy high def TV/VCR/DVDs, games, and music. Downstairs, adults can enjoy quiet conversation; music from your own MP3 player, IPod, or CD; and cook up a storm in the fully-equipped chef’s kitchen.
Listen to the pounding surf, enjoy sunrise and sunset on the decks, and keep an eye on older kids while they play on the beach. (There is a clear view to the beach to the north and south, but the view is partially blocked directly west.) If you want to keep in touch with the rest of the world, wireless high speed internet access and free domestic, Canadian, and Puerto Rico long distance are here for you to enjoy. And you don’t need to leave your four-legged family members at home. Well-behaved critters are welcome.

About Heather Crawford
My husband and I are retirees in our mid 60's; he's a former electrical engineer and investments consultant, and I was a community college administrator. We now live on the Mendocino Coast in California, about 200 miles north of San Francisco. We love coming to this house and are happy to share it with you. It seems to bring out all the wonderful love we have, along with energizing us to take long walks and hikes, but balanced by creating delightful delicacies in the kitchen.
Heather Crawford purchased this House in 1985
Why Heather Crawford chose Oceanside
I've loved this home for over 30 years, having personally restored every inch of it from an aging 1920's beach cabin to a comfortable and cozy ocean view home. When I lived here, I was one of the founders of the local community college. I lived in this house with my young son in the 1980's and '90s. Many of the neighborhood kids were babysat here while we parents socialized nearby at the community center. If you look closely, you can see where the kids left their mark on the play cubby walls upstairs (accessible only by a ladder) and here and there on the woodwork. To me, these are marks of Oceanside history and sweet reminders of times passed. Although we now live on the Mendocino Coast in Northern California, we love coming back to enjoy this special place. The house became a vacation rental in 2009. My husband and I visit 2 or 3 times a year to help keep things in sparkling condition. Though often we work nearly nonstop, it is a labor of love and we hope you will enjoy our efforts.
What makes this House unique
This is an especially well-stocked and well-appointed home, yet cozy, comfortable and inviting. Definitely not your typical vacation rental. You are close to the sounds and sights of the surf and it's just a one minute walk to the beach for most anyone. The beach at Oceanside is unlike many others. Its long expanse allows you to walk several miles in each direction. We manage a morning walk on the beach every day. In the afternoons, we walk to Netarts and get our favorite Tillamook ice cream, currently Mudslide. No matter how hard we are working, we always take breaks whenever the paragliders or eagles soar by. Every visit, we hike at Cape Lookout and Cape Meares State Parks, have a good dinner at Roseanna's, and drink in the view along with margaritas on the deck. Cooking fresh oysters (only $8 a dozen!) on the grill is another favorite. Nearly every night is concluded in an attempt to get an even better sunset photo than we did the night before.

Awesome Oceanside Beach House
This beach house was awesome. The view is stunning, it is a short walk to the beach, and they have thought of everything to make staying there comfortable and convenient. They even provide portable chairs that can be carried down the beach. The kitchen is fully stocked with spices, every kitchen item one could possibly need, and had all the comforts of home. There is not much available in Oceanside or Netarts as far as food or coffee shops have very limited hours so if you do not bring your own you have to drive to Tilimook was the only downside. Very quiet and beautiful though without all the tourist stuff.
It’s an old house and needs updating . . . But the views!!! It’s comfortable and was a perfect place or our family to cozy up and play games, work puzzles, and watch the storms through the wraparound windows. When the skies cleared, it was a short walk to a wonderful beach. We I’ll be back!
**it would be nice to have some non-down pillows available for those of us allergic to feathers. The master bath toilet is running and a window is leaking, but I think the owners plan to have it fixed.
Thanks for your comments. Actually, none of the pillows are down for the very reason you mention. Puzzling. The running toilet and the leaky window have been perennial problems despite a lot of attention. We'll be making repairs next week and will replace the window in spring. Glad you enjoyed your visit and will come back.
An absolute gem on the Oregon coast!
I loved my stay in this home. Whether you choose to relax in the living room to enjoy a good book, or sip on an evening beverage on the deck watching the sunset, this home has beauty and comfort from every angle.
The home is just a short walk to one of the most spectular beaches, and is located near two cafes, a post office, and a quaint restaurant, Roseanna's, where you feel immediately at home upon entering. The food is good and the service is excellent.
The home is well-appointed and has all of the amenities you need, including a well-stocked supply of cooking/kitchenware, games/puzzles, books, and abundant sets of linens and towels. If you are traveling from the Portland area, I recommend stopping in the town of Tillamook for groceries, beer/wine at Safeway, and then heading west to Oceanside. You won't want to leave once you're here.
If you need a peaceful retreat to rest and rejuvenate, or spend a memorable vacation with friends and loved ones, this is the home for you. I'm already planning my return visit.
So glad you enjoyed your visit. Good advice on getting groceries before you get there. When you book your next visit, ask about our Five Star Review Special.
Lovely spot with lots of detail to supplying all your needs
Fabulous views in a quaint little village. Kitchen has everything possible you could use. There is lots of bedding and towels available, along with shampoo and conditioner in the bathrooms. The washing machine is supplied with detergent, which was a pleasant surprise, and there were all the cleaning aids needed in kitchen and bathroom.
There are some areas that need attention. The main bedroom window is missing the latch used to open & close the window, and in order to lock this window you must have one person inside and one outside.
The barbecue has seen better days and is very difficult to control the heat. This should be replaced.
We were booked in for 5 days originally whereby it should have been 4 only. We were charged for the 5 days and when we called about this, prior to leaving to come down to Oregon we were assured that a credit would be made to our Visa within a few days. That time has now long since passed and no email regarding the credit, or sight of it on our Visa card. This is disappointing.
Warm, cozy and SO close to the beach!!
Thank you so much for allowing us to stay in your beautiful property! My family and I spent a week here and it was absolutely perfect. Right next to the beach, all the kitchen tools and gadgets we needed, and beautiful views! We will be back!
And we love being able to share our precious home with you! It's why we work hard to keep everything well stocked, clean and in good repair. Please inquire about our "Five Star Review Special" when you book your next stay.
Great beds, awesome shower, and amazing view. Lots of electrical prpblems, lots of missing items in kitchen to cook with, not clean. We cleaned out vacuum so we could vacuum floors, mopped, and dusted. Needs some repairs on deck, missing slat on railing found it and put it back in. Uncomfortable seating/beds futons in t.v. room. Good thing we brought blow up bed. Three arch inn blocks the entire front of house can only see from the side.
Glad this guest found the view amazing and the beds and shower great. We've replaced the GFI on the outlets that were tripping too easily. We will be replacing a few of the deck boards, but this is the only guest who found that to be a problem. Nothing was missing in the kitchen with the exception of a few glasses, but many things were not in their proper place. That is typical for the end of summer. Most guests have not had a problem with the futons, but they are meant more for children to sleep on. As the owner, cleanliness is extremely important to me, too. The manager said this was a new house cleaner who will not be returning.
Oceanside sits on a hillside overlooking two miles of beautiful beach, the Three Arch Rocks and Cape Lookout. Hang gliding and paragliding make this an adventure wonderland either to view from your deck or go to the top and... Jump! Easy minute or two walk to the beach. Besides beach and restaurants, not much else in Oceanside, but there is crabbing and clamming in nearby Netarts, and the city of Tillamook, an easy 15 minute drive, offers most modern conveniences.
