Lucy and Jorge are excellent hosts and have an amazing property. We enjoyed the home cooked meals and company. Lucy was great at helping us arrange transportation and with fantastic ideas for sightseeing. We look forward to our return.
I have just returned from two plus magical weeks at Villa Lucia. To wake up to the sound of birds and the quiet of the countryside is heaven. Jorge & Lucy are the ultimate hosts providing a bountiful table of Italian delights prepared by them and a generosity of spirit. Both are extremely knowledgeable about food and all the hidden treasures close at hand in the near by towns.
Accommodations, food and owners make this a must for anyone wanting the Tuscan experience
My wife and I just spent a wonderful week at Villa Lucia after a whirlwind land tour of Italy. Lucy and Jorge welcomed us with open arms and the relaxing atmosphere of their beautiful villa was a perfect alternative to the hustle and bustle of "Tourist Italy". We stayed in the "chicken coop", a separate apartment by the pool and steps from the main house, with its own charming kitchen. We never used it because Lucy and Jorge prepared all the fantastic meals for us themselves. Being from Southern California, we were use to eating on the run, but we quickly learned that Italian meals were all about the food and good conversation with friends. Also staying there were two wonderful American ladies and a great French couple. Jorge and Lucy made us all feel like family instantly! While we enjoyed seeing all the highlights of Italy on our tour, our stay at Villa Lucia was the best part of our trip.
We had a wonderful stay at Villa Lucia. The entire family went (13 in all) and the Villa was very spacious with room for everyone. The children loved the pool and we enjoyed cooking in the fabulous kitchen. The property is centrally located and perfectly situated for day trips to Florence, Sienna, Pisa, Lucca, and Cinque Terra. Jorge and Lucy are wonderful hosts and the train station at Montecatini Terme makes visits to Rome or other places quite easy. We had a fabulous time and can't wait to go again!
If you have pictured in your mind a beautiful old Tuscan Villa loaded with charm, antiques, comfy beds, views from every window, olive groves, walking paths, alfresco dining, cooking classes, beautiful vistas for sunrises and sunsets, a beautiful hillside pool setting, easy access to trains and autostradas for sightseeing, and last, but not least, the most perfect hosts you can conjure up, then you have just pictured Villa Lucia in all of its splendor. This was what I pictured for my friends and family when I was planning a 4 week vacation in Tuscany. Thanks to Lucy and Jorge we had the perfect experience at Villa Lucia. We wouldn’t change a thing, other than having more time there. In my humble opinion, Villa Lucia would be the perfect place to go anytime of year. Thank you Lucy and Jorge for inviting us into your Villa and treating us all like your own family.
Heartfelt thanks to both Lucy and Jorge for making our first trip to Italy the best I could have ever imagined! We couldn't have been happier that we found their villa. The two of them are such special people and my husband and I both agree that our time spent at their wonderful villa was truly the best part of our entire trip! We mean that sincerely!
It's not every day that you meet people so warm and welcoming as these two owners were from the moment we arrived! They made us feel like their long lost family and we loved just sitting there spending time with them and hearing their stories about their amazing life experiences! We even willing gave up a trip to Sienna one day because we were enjoying spending time at the villa with them so much! To us, they represented the heart of Tuscany and the experience that we wanted from a trip to Italy! You can read about and visit all the cultural spots, but nothing can compare to just sitting around a table in a beautiful surrounding and drinking coffee or sipping wine with people who are so connected to the area and make you feel like family!
Their villa is beautiful but it's the two of them that makes it not just a beautiful place, but somewhere you just don't want to leave! It may be hard for others to image that some of our favorite times of the entire trip were when we were sitting with them eating Lucy's delicious food and hearing both Jorge and Lucy's stories. They even included us and six others, who were also staying at the villa, to join them and a group of 12 of their personal friends, for a Sunday brunch. This wasn't a part of our package and just shows a small sampling of their generosity and hospitality. They couldn't have made the day more special! We all gathered around a lovely set table outdoors that was adorned with beautiful flowers and nestled under a vined arbor, with a beautiful view of the surrounding hills and olive groves. It was like we knew each other for years...we definitely made new lifelong friends. It was really my definition of a perfect day in Tuscany! Lucy's homemade cannelloni were so light and her sauce so delicious! I wish I had been there longer so we could have taken one of her famous cooking classes. She also made the best Zabaglione with fresh berries that I have ever tasted. We are so grateful to both of them for sharing their beautiful home with us! They will forever be family and we can't wait until we return to see them again!
