About this property
The River House ~ Maple Valley
Stargazing at its best. Kick back & relax in this calm and peaceful escape while listening to the sound of the Cedar River whilst in the hot tub! The River House is a very special & healing place to recharge, have a romantic getaway or simply spend time with those important to you. Work from home? Work here in our dedicated office & then relax the night away. Come and make some great memories! Enjoy plenty of hiking, skiing & swimming nearby. Located 30 miles from Seattle, WA.
The cottage is 1100 square feet. There are three floors in total. The Main floor consists of the master bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, living and dining rooms. The Loft on the 2nd floor is equipped with a full size futon that comfortably sleeps 1 adult or two children (special requests only). The 3rd floor (we call it the Birds Nest) is on the top floor. The Birds Nest has a perfect view of the river and you can hear it rushing by. It can only be accessed via the Loft and while there is a long stairway that lends privacy, there is no door. There is a window AC unit in the Bird’s Nest because it can get hot in that space during the summer & there is a mini-split system for the lower floor (one in the primary bedroom & 1 in the main living area). The space is ideal for 1-4 people as the Loft is a great gathering place. The Loft doors can be closed for full privacy to separate the main floor from the upper floors. There are 3 Smart TV's in the home, one on each floor. The kitchen is ready for you to whip up amazing meals & create your favorite drinks. Don't forget to sign the guestbook and reflect on your time here. We'd love to share in the memory with you and I am sure that future guests will no doubt be inspired!

Host was amazing and communicative. The river house is full of charm and nestled in a quiet beautiful area of Washington - will for sure be staying again in the future!!!
Had a great week at this house. Beautiful location and quiet neighborhood. Enjoyed the hot tub, upstairs game room and relaxing out back by the river. The September weather was perfect and communication with the host, Sarah, was top notch.Highly recommend this property.
In the middle of a hectic time, this wonderful, peaceful place was sheer BLISS to come back to each night. While there, I learned I have breast cancer, and the gentle sound of the river flowing by kept me sane those first few days. Everything we could possibly need was there, which was a huge comfort.
We absolutely loved this place. The river was so lovely and we really liked the cover over the hot tub for when it rained. Great amenities and really appreciated the snack basket. Make sure to bring a sleep mask though because it is bright upstairs! I would totally book this home again.
We were in Maple Valley for a wedding and this was such a fun spot. We took advantage of swimming and tubing down the river and the hot tub! There were 2 rooms with a bed each (top floor and bottom floor) and a middle floor with a 3rd sleeping area that had a push down futon and extra bedding and pillows. Cool place to stay! Definitely recommend.
Lovely space to get away from it all. Fully equipped kitchen so it was easy to make meals. Easy parking, w&d, lots of towels. We could hear the river when we walked in. Sarah was lovely. Will stay again!
Loved the stay. It was "well stocked" with everything one could need to enjoy their stay. The river and hot tub in the back are automatic "smile generators". The owner was responsive, timely, and caring regarding my needs.
We had such an awesome stay at the Riverhouse. Beautiful setting, private and the house had everything we needed and very clean. Sarah was so communicative and really appreciated her. We definitely will be back.
This property is located perfectly if you’re looking to explore a good chunk of Washington! In under 2 hours any direction there’s endless things to do! Sarah was a helpful host and we really enjoyed the hot tub and location on the water!
It was very relaxing and peaceful. We had great weather most of the stay and saw lots of wildlife. Internet was strong and allowed the two of us to work from the house without any issues.
Beautiful little house deep in the woods. Extremely quiet and peaceful but still does have some nice shops/food close by. Loved the crows nest bedroom and of course the hot tub. Don't miss taking a quick dip in the cold river before jumping back in the warm water. Would stay again anytime.
Lovely cottage home with a great location right on the river. My daughter and I enjoyed hiking in the area. Super easy access to freeway, shopping and the SEATAC airport. A highly recommend the River House for a family getaway.
Great little cabin. We didn’t get to spend a lot of time there as we had multiple plans but the time we did spend at the property was very nice. The host was always in contact.
Sarah was incredibly helpful. We loved our stay and the location was perfect for visiting Seattle and the surrounding areas. We would highly recommend.

It was a pleasure meeting you! Thank you for your patience & kindness!
From the second we walked we, we were in love! Everything was perfect! The kitchen was fully stocked with things we didn’t even think we would need, but did. The river front was hands down my favorite part and I enjoyed the peaceful early mornings drinking coffee and listening to the river. We saw deer, hawks, squirrels and rabbits. Sarah is an absolutely wonderful host and cannot wait to stay there again. Thank you Sarah for everything!
We had such a relaxing stay here! The house was perfect for 2 of us. The birdsnest room at the top was amazing! I loved sitting out by the river and reading. Everything about this listing was top notch!! Hope to return again sometime!

About the host
Hosted by Sarah Gilman
Greetings! Thank you for visiting my listing. I live locally and grew up in Washington State. I have always loved the river and dreamed of having a river house one day so that I could cultivate a place for myself, my kids, friends, family and now YOU to have rest, rejuvenate and recharge. My Father who passed away in 2019 inspired this in me since I was a little girl. He took me hiking, fishing and camping often. He always dreamed of living on the river and now by way of me, he gets to. You'll find that the living room coffee table is very unique and special. This is because he made it back in the 1980's with wood he found on the river front. Please treat it with care.
Why they chose this property
You will no doubt enjoy this space. From the top floor birds nest you can see the river rushing by and you can hear it as well. Its a very peaceful setting and has every amenity you'll need during your stay (minus the food).
