A great find!

The house is so accommodating with amenities galore. Washer, dryer, dishwasher, outdoor grill, gas fireplace, hair dryer.... Equipped with beach chairs & noodles for floating in the hot pond. Clean and spacious with soothing décor. So much to do and such a short drive to all! We spent one day exploring the National Park. We saw the volcano's activity both by day and night. The botanical garden is a must do. We went to the Farmer’s Market and had lunch at Pineapple. We sat around the big table in the evening with a glass of wine, a fire and chatted. Being one of a group of 5 women on this vacation I was thrilled to get my own room. My bed was very comfortable and I slept great! I would definitely book the Ohana House again and not hesitate to recommend it. It was all so very easy and enjoyable.

Beautiful home near Volcano National Park.

  • 5 of 5

We actually stayed in this home Feb 2014 and just getting around to the review. The home was very spacious with amply bedrooms and baths for a family of 5. There was a hiking trail out back and a very close drive to the park. The decor was charming and had a relaxing vibe. The owner was very helpful in suggesting places to shop. The kitchen was fully stocked as we cooked all of our dinners at home. The only problem was the dehumidifier had to run constantly in the master bedroom or the floor would get wet. Not sure why? All in all we very much enjoyed our stay and appreciate you opening your home to us.

Rain forest delight.

  • 5 of 5

What a beautiful and comfortable house. Our family had a totally unique experience being in the rain forest and near the volcanoes. Owner provided enough of everything to make it comfortable and convenient. It felt like an oasis in the middle of the jungle. It is hard to think that a gas fireplace is needed in Hawaii but with the altitude and occasional rain it was a welcome extra in the AM and late in the evening. Great spot!!

Close but no cigar

Red flags on this property!! Absentee owners may not have a cleaning service or local caretakers with their best interest in mind. Surface cleaning only. Carpets stained, kitchenware had a film so our first task was to empty all the cabinets and waged everything. We booked this property for five friends attending Merrie Monarch festivities. Fortunately we arrived before our friends to make property feel a little more welcoming. It's amazing, a few simple fresh flowers, Febreze to counter mildew smells and some island background music can give a warm welcome feeling. Ohana House could easily become a 5 star property with a little extra effort. Some deep cleaning (carpets professionally cleaned), upgrade old bedding (after 10 years you got your monies worth) pillows should've replaced every year. A broom to sweep porch might go on that list. I might add if you check out 11am, as published on your website owners might instruct their cleaning service that parking themselves on the front porch before 10am is bad form. What shouldbe obvious....if there are cars in the drive prior to 11am then guests are still present and it's more appropriate to come back after the checkout time. Seems obvious but common sense is very common... I think Mark Twain gets the credit for that little wisdom. Unfortunate we couldn't give this a 5 Star ... but not much Aloha here.

Owner's Response: Thanks for taking the time to write such a thorough review. I'm so sorry we came up short in your estimation. I have hired a new cleaning crew, and I very much appreciate your alerting me to some issues I will have to address with them. There is no excuse for them to park in the driveway and make you feel uncomfortable before it is time for you to check out. I sincerely apologize for that. And of course, if everything was not spotless there is no excuse for that either. I wish there was a way to make it up to you, but again, I want to thank you for your input and we will certainly address your issues for our next guests. Mahalo, Becky
