You cannot beat the views here! Absolutely stunning!
My mother and sister, Lucy, stayed at this VRBO home with our family in July 2021. We enjoyed the tranquility away from the hustle and bustle of the more crowded beach towns. We loved the house so much, that we asked the owner to let us know if he ever wanted to sell. He did, and the rest is history! We are happy to now own this vacation home and look forward to sharing it with you.

The Salty Cactus is a light and bright luxurious home located in Sargent, Texas, with world-class fishing right off the dock in the backyard. We absolutely love the area and the people, true Texas hospitality in this small, peaceful town. The home is the perfect retreat, featuring top of the line beds and linens, unbelievable views up and down Caney Creek, and a big yard and patio for family and friends to gather. Watch the sunrise with a cup of coffee or sunset with your favorite beverage. Pull your boat up to the private dock or simply cast off our pier. Fishing and crabbing are great directly off the dock. The beach is only a few miles away, and you can park on the beach which avoids the hassle of hauling all your beach items a long distance. My kids enjoy hunting for seashells, playing in the waves/sand, soaking in the stunning views. We enjoy the great fishing and a peaceful beach experience that is rarely crowded.

Our home comes with everything you need for a successful and stress-free vacation. It is fully stocked with towels, linens, kitchen ware, basic spices and small appliances. We have three bedrooms and two full baths with beds for 10 adults, or 10 adults and 1 child, with plenty of space to put air mattresses or a portable crib (both not included). There's also a sofa sleeper in the living room with a smart TV and board games for both kids and adults to enjoy. In fact, there's smart TVs in every bedroom but you won't use them because you will rather be in our oversized enclosed patio enjoying the salty air. The patio has a gate to keep the little ones inside, and there's a baby gate if needed for inside the home. The outdoor living area is where everyone wants to be!

Small vacation in October

Everything was great!! The only improvement that could be added is a fish cleaning station by the pier. The fishing was fantastic. The house is very nice and comfortable and well equipped. We really enjoyed our stay and looking forward to staying again.

Nice getaway from Houston with kids

The house had everything we needed and was clean when we arrived. The beds were comfortable and plenty of room for a large family or two small families. Our kids went out on the dock and fished on their own. Caught quite a few fish even a couple of large drum. Owner of the rental was very helpful and reachable at all times. We also really enjoyed the fire pit both nights, the stars were amazing!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stayed. They view is wonderful. I am older and don't tolerate the heat very well. I was happy to be able to sit in the AC and watch the water, birds and my family fishing on the pier. We were pleasantly surprised by how well stocked this home is especially the kitchen and bathrooms. I expected there to be just basic cooking equipment but there is every size pot skillet cooking utensil, cups, plate, bowls, etc. that you would need. There are lots of games to play, plenty of towels (including beach towels), as well as extra pillows, sheets. We have enjoyed every bit of our mini-vacation.

Friends meeting

The home was inviting and stocked with the seasonings we needed. We came from Alaska and Minnesota and did not bring much with us so it was nice to have the conveniences of home without having to go to the store and purchase everything. Enjoyed the home tremendously! We got locked out and Sara was a phone call away and helped us out. Highly recommend it for get togethers! Fun place

Perfect Stay

The Salty Cactus was a wonderful place to spend a long weekend. The house and grounds were large enough to have room to spread out and not feel crowded. The house is larger than the pictures represent and very nicely decorated and spotless when we arrived with every supply you might need. The pier was an added bonus and we enjoyed fishing/crabbing. Sara the host ranks top of list in accommodating her guests. We can't wait to rent again and for a longer period. Thank you for letting us share your beautiful home.

House and property was nice and clean. The problems we had was lights not working and we reported it too host. She just said I'm sorry for the inconvenience. When I would have sent someone over to repair it. The other one was bad fishing. Nothing but a bunch of hard heads .
