About the property

House, 2 Bedrooms , (Sleeps 4), sea view, surrounding terrace, privacy

Casa Cereza is a wooden/cement/palm roof house with 2 floors. The first floor apartment is surrounded by a terrace on three sides with a lovely seaview. There is a big spacy living room with a typical Mexican kitchen which is fully equipped.

The masterbedroom(kingsize) is very comfortable and like all the other rooms in the house natural ventilated with windows all around. A little private terrace makes part of the sleeping room. The second bedroom(queensize) is full of light and color and offers lovely seaview from bed! The bathroom is connected with living room and sleeping room. You can see the sunset from your hammock!

Downstairs is a independent apartment where the owner lives. The house is situated in a lovely garden in front of your own lonely beach, near to the village(10 min walk) but far enough to desconnect and enjoy complete tranquility.

About The Owner

Sabine and her son Noe Mixtli. I am from Austria, Noe was born in Mexico and had the big adventure to grow up on Holbox Island. We built our lovely home which we would like to share with you, slowly and over years, that's why it came out so special. We continue traveling, going her and there, but our home and base is Isla Holbox with its charming people. They make you feel part of them, they make you feel home and in family. The atmosphere and the rhythm is difficult to describe, so come and see!

The Owner purchased this house in 2008

Why The Owner chose El Cuyo

The reason why we got stuck on this charming island: so many things, the nature-beauty of this place, the beauty of the people, no traffic, no roads, no shoes!, quietness, nice beach-bars, the best food all over the world, very good restaurants and always a lot of things to do....

Guestbook comments from the owner

It was so wonderful. A really charming house full of nice details. In the night the full moon was going down in the see. Our sleep was deep becoause of the sound of the waves.

Relaxed, local vibe. Beautiful setting.

  • 5 of 5

Everybody has a different idea of what it means to be on vacation. If your idea (like ours) is to be completely removed from the day to day hustle AND feel like you are integrated into the local vibe this is your place! My husband and I came here to get away for his 50th birthday and it was perfect. The space was more than ample (we could have had another couple with) and very clean. To be clear though, this is not a resort. There is no pool and other amenities you might get at a resort but to us that's better. We like having a little kitchen and dining space. One day when it rained we hung out and had cocktails and played backgammon on the porch without a care in the world. Very walkable to town (we did it about 3 times a day either by road or beach) or you are a very short taxi ride.

Sabine is very helpful with anything you need without being in your space. Her café is very good and convenient too. We'd go back in a heartbeat.

Beautiful spot.

  • 5 of 5

We had a great stay here with 2 kids. Would be fine for two couples too. Plenty of room, nice and peaceful, very clean. Cool ocean breezes at night made the place totally comfortable in March, no need for AC at all. We felt like we were living in a beautiful hand-crafted tree house, just a few steps from the beach. Sabine knows the island very well and was extremely helpful and generous with us. A lot of work went into creating this place and maintaining it immaculately. This is a very special place that I'll always remember.

When looking for a vacation rental, we wanted a quiet, relaxing vacation for me and my family (including 5 year old) and Sabine at Casa Cereza did not disappoint at all. The location is outstanding, with great access to a clean beach including shade and chairs just for us. We were able to cook a lot of our own food with her accommodations, but enjoyed all the fresh bread that she personally made. The proximity to town was perfect as well, making it easy to get groceries, drinks, entertainment when we felt up to it. Overall, we really appreciated all the hospitality of Sabine. She was a great resource about transportation to and from the island, as well as anything the island has to offer. We would definitely return in the future! Thanks for everything!

Wonderful rental!

  • 5 of 5

We had such a lovely time. The apartment is beautiful...: much better than in the photos, and literally only a few steps to the ocean, with its own beach hut and chairs.

The owner, Sabine, was so lovely and kind.

We truly had a wonderful time on the island and would recommend staying at casa Cereza!

Lovely house close to the beach

  • 5 of 5

I have been very happy with Sabine’s place. It is rustic yet tasteful and clean.

The only thing that could be improved is the shower (takes too long to get hot water). Overall recommended.
