La Faute-sur-Mer is the southernmost seaside resort in the Vendée region. It is located in the Pertuis Sea, facing the Île de Ré, near Aiguillon Bay and the beaches of Charente-Maritime.

The beaches of La Faute-sur-Mer stretch for 8 km from La Tranche to the tip of Pointe d'Arçay. They are well sheltered and offer many water sports, including sand yachting. Four beaches are supervised. They all slope gently, making them ideal for families with children. Some beaches are accessible for people with reduced mobility, but access from the parking lots is a bit remote (access via paved paths and then sand).

To the south, we find Pointe d'Arçay (5 km long, still expanding, bordered by a maritime pine forest), a coastal spit shaped by the sea and wind. It boasts some beautiful wild beaches.
