Welcome to Skamania Coves. With a beautiful view up and down the Columbia River, and access to the beach just feet away, our cabin is a perfect place for a private retreat.
THE RITZ! - For an additional fee you can rent "The Ritz" garden shed which is detached but in the same compound. The Ritz has a queen bed and it's own toilet and sink. Walk out onto your private deck and into your own outdoor shower. View of the river, right on the bank!
Bird watchers, artists, kayakers, fisherman, sailors, wind surfers, and train enthusiasts have enjoyed staying here. Nestled in the center of the Columbia Gorge National Scenic Area, we are just minutes away from hiking, grand waterfalls, hot springs, rich Native American and Lewis & Clark history, sternwheeler excursions, as well as shopping and dining in nearby Stevenson.
If relaxing is what you need, curl up by the fire with a good book and from the grand front window watch the river-life pass by or meander down to the beach to collect rocks, shells and beach glass, and soak your feet in the waves.
Occasionally there are trains that pass behind the house. Sound/Privacy fence installed to give a secluded secure feeling.

River Property in the Gorge is rare to come by plus we are avid sailors and occasionally fish.
Private Beach, access for kayaking, fishing, and all peaceful types of water sports - kite boarding, wind surfing, sailing, etc. Tremendous amounts of wildlife and river life can be viewed as you sit on the front deck, hike to a rock outcropping or while sitting in front of the large picture window facing the river.
We stayed at the Riverhouse two nights (5/23 and 5/24/14). The house itself is marvelous, the view unbelievable. There are two coves nearby that we enjoyed. The house is pet friendly, and our golden retriever certainly enjoyed being there, especially getting to swim in the coves. The property is mostly fenced, which helped with the dog. However, if it were my property I would want to let renters know that the railroad is right outside the fenced area, and trains come by several times, day and night (last night there were at least 5 trains), including at least one that appeared to be a train hauling crude oil. I know there's nothing that the owner can do about that, but I do think that it's worth mentioning to a potential renter. The fence does not fully enclose the property, so pets and children need to be monitored. You need to cross two sets of tracks leading to the property, and given the numbers of trains, one needs to be very diligent about crossing the tracks.
There's lots to see and do in the immediate area. Again, it's a beautiful, historical area, but as far as I'm concerned, the train is an issue and a potential renter should be informed. Not sure I would stay there again, only because of the train. Just too loud (and the house even shook).
We spent Thanksgiving week at the Riverhouse and absolutely enjoyed our stay! The views of the Gorge were incredible and the accommodations comfortable, clean and well-maintained. We loved sitting by the fire and watching the Columbia River flow by as well as taking way too many pictures of the stunning sunrises and sunsets! The privacy of the cabin and beach allowed us to completely relax during our stay, which was exactly what we were hoping for. We loved the convenience of having a full kitchen as well as laundry in the cabin. And, the trains that occasionally came by, added to the charm of the area. We will definitely be back!
This place is well maintained, beautifully decorated with everything one could need, and is quickly becoming this NW veteran's favorite detestation. It's secluded, peaceful, and gorgeous! The bed was comfortable, the cabin cozy and luxurious at the same time, and very clean. There is a secluded beach and a firepit for those who just want to stay outside. This place has it all, and the owners and property managers are really great!
This is a very special secluded home with beautiful high end furnishings, linens, etc. While only a mile from town, you feel like you are a hundred miles away from everything. Gorgeous views of the river and wildlife. We loved the house and would love to return one day soon. I cannot say enough good things about this house.
This home is gorgeous and very private! Very high end finishes, linens and touches across the board. The river views from the living room, bedroom and of course front porch are amazing. Well stocked kitchen made preparing meals a breeze. There are a lot of beautiful places to explore on the property and the private beach coves are so unique and serene. We hope to stay here again.
This cabin is beautifully decorated and maintained with binoculars, books, and resources to provide history of the surrounding area. We enjoyed the stunning waters of the Columbia River Gorge both through the comfy living area and our many walks around the private coves. The kitchen was well equipped with modern appliances to prepare meals, although the short drive into Stevenson for dinner was enjoyable, as well. We will definitely be revisiting this charming place!
