Trillium Lodge sits on top of a beautiful and peaceful ridge overlooking Ohiopyle State Park. We loved the location and wanted to share it with others. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do!
Quiet, great views, excellent star gazing, 40 acres to yourself, plenty of room for parties up to 35-40 people, large deck and a large patio area, outdoor bonfire location, only minutes from whitewater rafting and Ohiopyle State Park. Seven Springs and Hidden Valley Ski areas are only 30 minutes.
House was great, a lot of space, liked the big table, but some things are keeping us from not rebooking. The big one was taking out the trash in our cars. They really need a dumpster on the property. We wetn in the winter and it is not easy to get to with a regular car. When it was time to leave everyone had to put trash bags in their car from the weekend. It was not a pretty site, sometimes having to come back a couple times. It left a bad taste in our mouth.
Also when we checked in, there was someone in the house. GArbage was in trash cans and beds were not made. We were nervous and couldn't find the person that was int he hosue and it turned out to be the maid who comes to clean. It was a bit of a bad first impression of the place. Otherwise, nice house to spend a weekend.
We gathered several members of a blended family for a week of relaxation and adventure. The Trillium Lodge was a perfect setting. Lots of space, beautiful sunsets, well equipped kitchens.
We just completed our week at Trillium Lodge and had a wonderful time. We loved Ohiopyle and all the activities that the town has to offer. The lodge was very spacious, fully stocked with kitchen supplies, and dog friendly. We had a group of about 15 over the course of the week, and it was the perfect size to accommodate our large group. The kitchen was full of miscellaneous supplies like oil, spices, condiments, etc. which was wonderful. There were plenty of plates, bowls, utensils, serving ware, and cookware. The upstairs dining room table was a little small for our group, so we added a buffet table to the end that was supplied in the downstairs entertainment room. There are five rooms in the lower level, four have queen beds, and one has a bunk bed (full and twin). One of the rooms smelled a little mildewy, but there were two dehumidifiers around the lower level to help with that. The only problem is that the machines kicked off a high level of heat. Our visit was unfortunately during a freak heat wave across the country. It made for a hot and humid week (clearly the owners could not be faulted for the heat wave, but the upstairs main areas and master suite were unbearably hot and humid for three days, even when we opened the windows at night to let in the cool air). We were informed by local residents that the high temperatures that we experienced were highly uncommon and very rare, so the heat in the house may not be a normal problem. Other than the heat we had a wonderful time. There is a fire pit on the back side of the house which was great on one of the cooler evenings. There were plenty of bathrooms to accommodate everyone. The main room has an LCD tv with Dish network which we were grateful for when we needed down-time. And there were two grills so outdoor cooking was never a problem. We would most definitely consider returning to the lodge and were very happy with our experience. On a side note, if you visit the lodge during the summer, we strongly recommend Highwaters BBQ and Grill for dinner or lunch. They had free beer and excellent pulled pork & slaw!!! this was our go-to joint during the week when we didn't want to cook and loved every meal!
Our group of 25 stayed here in June of 2011, and it was perfect. The owners had everything clean and ready upon our arrival and provided us with fans in all the rooms, shampoo and conditioner in the showers, and toilet paper in the bathrooms so we didn't have to worry about the little details.
The setting was beautiful, and our group really enjoyed the deck overlooking the secluded hills, the hot tub, and the open floor plan of the main level. We used the nearby Wilderness Voyageurs for our white water rafting trip which was amazing. All the guides were knowlegeable and fun.
The only downside is that this house address did not come up on anyone's GPS unit, so it was a bit hard to find in the dark. I would recommend getting detailed directions from the owners before driving. Other than that, there is not one negative thing to say about this house. We had a blast and are thankful for the opportunity to make memories with friends in such a lovely setting.
I have stayed at Trillium Lodge for weekends, spent one Christmas with a couple of my sisters and our families at the lodge, spent a week with my wife's family while other groups were also at the lodge, and had a super-fun all-cousins family gathering of around 20 a while back. It is a cozy and warm, unpretentious, family-friendly place set on a spectacular mountain with a huge wrap-around deck and a view that goes for miles and miles.
The wide-open layout upstairs makes visiting and socializing a priority. No walls between dining room, kitchen, and huge living room make this a place for cooking and eating and lounging with any size group of friends or family. The cook-friendly kitchen is well-supplied, and my family and friends and I have had some amazing feasts and holiday meals at the Lodge.
Outside downstairs there is a hot tub, really nice place for a soak and incredibly beautiful view.
I would say for the truly fussy, or for people who cannot leave the house without a bottle of hand sanitizer, Trillium Lodge is not the place for you. But for me, and many family and friends, the Lodge is one of the best places we know to go and relax, and use as a base of operations for the amazing recreational activities in and around Ohiopyle. We took my sister-in-law there, and now her family and one of her social groups have used it for a retreat.
We (because I am writing for about 30-40 miscellaneous friends and family) also love Wilderness Voyageurs. For so many reasons, but firstly the amazing staff, they are an incredibly outdoor adventure enterprise. With a super place to relax like Trillium Lodge, you feel refreshed and revitalized as you head off for incredible rafting, biking, fishing, and hiking, or like my family directly to the grocery store to plan the next feast.
