The property itself is relaxing and peaceful. In early August mornings, the lake is peacefully quiet with the sounds of wildlife and fish splashing. On one morning we saw 2 deer walking beside the house. Keep in mind, the walk around the house to the VRBO is steep and difficult at night. If you have heavy luggage, the walk can be a bit challenging if you have limited mobility. The owners have 2 dogs that were so sweet! They ran over to us one day to say hello.

Absolutely love this property! This is the second time we stayed here and it was just as lovely as the first time. It is so peaceful sitting on the porch looking out over the lake listening to the fish jump and the frogs sing. The in law suit was spotless and quiet. Can’t wait until our next visit!

The suite was very nice and had everything we needed. The only downside was the access to it and the lake. The area is hilly so the access was a little tricky especially when wet.

Thank you for your stay and for your positive comments about the suite. I’m pleased it provided everything you needed. The suite is located on a wooded hillside overlooking the lake, and the listing clearly explains that access is via a downhill, unpaved path. Unfortunately, rainy weather can make any natural path more difficult to navigate. We are currently adding steps to further improve access. While we cannot control the weather or the terrain that is fully disclosed in the listing, we appreciate the feedback and are always looking for ways to enhance the guest experience.

Very clean. The house as a whole was an architectural beauty. In law suite was spacious and beautiful. Bathroom and shower were first rate. Back porch was extremely peaceful and comfortable. Exactly what we were looking for. We will be back when visiting Lynchburg again.

Very lovely property, beautiful inside and out. As long as you can navigate the dirt path sweeping around the perimeter, you’ll be able to enjoy a nice quiet spot in a well-appointed house. We would stay again if in the area.

Super nice place , quiet at night sone of the best sleep in a long time . Great location to see the leaves , did both of Thomas Jefferson’s homes , went to Wades mill, Peaks of Otter and Blue Ridge parkway. The suit is well equipped and good Resturant close by. Planning a spring trip return .

I have very mixed feelings about the property. The owner was great in her communication, however, I wish the fact that the lake was not swimmable due to algae was known to us before we came. This was only disclosed after we checked in. As far as the property goes, it does have an appeal. Decor is interesting but somewhat overcrowding. However, several points were quite off-putting. The kitchen was clean on the surface, but the utensils drawer was filthy, as well as utensils holder in the dish rack. Kitchen cabinets doors need cleaning, as they were dirty. Some snacks, cereals and cans were left for use, which was a nice touch until... My teens got excited about the snacks and destroyed them before I could check the dates as several bars looked beat up, most were expired. The same was with the canned chicken. Condiments, jelly and water bottle left in the fridge we open, as if someone just left. AC needs new filter, we woke up feeling sick. Bathroom had used soap bar. The alarm sounded at 6am. Porch furniture was webbed, and outside couch by the window was torn and dirty, as if it wasn't cleaned for months. Hot tub should not be listed as it's just a wishful thinking.The property is secluded and nice. If you want to make fire, do bring your own wood as one at the property is wet and rotten. The main issue that I had was that the only bathroom is in the master bedroom, thus, no privacy at all. No vents in the second room, and it gets stuffy, but fan was provided.

We were in town for a couple of nights and needed a comfortable place to stay. Couldn’t have been happier. Beautiful setting, very easy and clean. Would stay there again.

It is beautiful. Quite the hill to climb if you are out of shape, but we loved it and found ourselves relaxing and just enjoying the natural surrounding.

Private Retreat

Great little weekend get away. The area was beautiful and serene. The host was welcoming and very accommodating. I would recommend bringing an overnight bag you can carry rather than a wheeled suitcase due to the path leading down to the door. If you need a quiet place to relax this is a great place to stay. I will definitely be staying here again.

Great place with everything we needed. Would’ve loved to have hung out on the back patio but it seemed it was a bit buggy. Can hear the owners upstairs and their dog occasionally but it didn’t ruin the trip.

Small town girl raised in Michigan, transplanted to North Carolina for college (UNC-Chapel Hill), and relocated to Lynchburg with my family in 2006. I'm a business-minded jack of all trades (Duke Fuqua School of Business 2020) and thought this would be a fun diversion and business opportunity. This is the forever home that I've always dreamt of building, and I'd love to share it with you and your family.

This house was custom designed and built from the ground up (2013) on a piece of property that makes you feel like you have found heaven on Earth. It boasts a small carbon footprint from insulated concrete form exterior walls, geothermal radiant heat floors and water heater, solar light tubes, and LED lights. No luxury was spared in building this in-law suite for my mom, who has since purchased her own home. From the expansive, travertine master-bathroom to the chef's kitchen, you can feel the love that went into building this space.

The house is incredibly well insulated, and our goal is for you to not even realize we are under the same roof. However, if you need an ingredient for dinner or a forgotten toiletry, there is a dumbwaiter to your pantry that allows me to send things down without disrupting your stay.

I am one of those people that would rather rent a stand-alone dwelling. So I understand the desire for privacy, and I assure you that this is better. We will not be seen or heard, but if you need anything, we are just a text away.

It is hard to believe that a tranquil location like this can be found so close to the local hospital and three colleges/universities. For people who enjoy the outdoors, summer and winter activities are abundant within a 45-minute drive! This rental could be perfect for traveling health care workers, families coming to visit college fledglings, a private, romantic getaway, or for a family wanting to reconnect with each other and with nature.
