We have been Door travelers for many many years. We are also landlords back in the city. So we believe we have a good understanding of what vacationers want. Safe, clean and fund places! This property has all that.
Dean or Corinne Zajac purchased this house in 2003
We purchased this property mostly based on its solitude and views of the lake. It also has very shallow and safe swimming along with an open yard for our children to play which was very attractive to us. Located in southern Door the cabin is off the beaten trail yet close enough to be able to enjoy all of what Door County has to offer. And yet only 2 hours from the north side of Milwaukee. Southern Door is easy to get to on a Friday night. This means you can enjoy it much more often!
Solitude, yet close enough to the shops, parks and unique peninsula towns. Safe swimming, large yard, hot tub, basketball and wrap around deck to hide from the winds on a breezy lake day.
Thanks Dean. We had a great time and lots of laughs. Made some memories for sure! You have a lovely quiet retreat. We certainly enjoyed every minute of it. The address is correct. Thanks again and I will share our experience with friends.
Property is nice and quiet. Great outdoor fire pit and yard for games. Kitchen and bathrooms are well stocked. Beautiful views of the sunrise over Lake Michigan. Short distance to the heart of Door County. Quick trip down to Algoma and it's wineries & micro breweries.
We loved our stay but definitely had a few set backs. The backyard is more for the view than it is for swimming. There is no beach in the backyard to access the water so you need water shoes for all the rocks. Due to all the rules and not owning a hot tub we were afraid to use it but used it anyway when we discovered lake swimming was nearly impossible and of course didn't clean it properly landing us with the cleaning fee out of our deposit. Also stated that we didn't throw trash away properly and left food in the microwave.I'd recommend to just stay out the the hot tub unless you own one at home and know how it take care of it. It is almost like a trap to take your deposit. Plus lots of vague cleaning rules. Also the cabin sleeps 6-8 people but they left us one roll of toilet paper for each bathroom and a roll of paper towels. We had to go out and buy more of both because there were 7 of us for 3 nights.
Can't beat the view at the house and the town! The brewery and winery in the area were amazing. Also had some really yummy places to eat. It was nice to have the basketball hoop.
Getting my family all together at the same time in the same place is sometimes mission impossible. Coming in from Wyoming and Montana and western Wisconsin ... this place was perfect. The home is setup for family together time ... which is exactly what we wanted! We enjoy being lazy in the morning with our coffee, making meals together, and ending the day around a campfire. This home gave us all of that and the bonus of a beautiful view of Lake Michigan. The shoreline is shallow enough that the water was warm enough for the kids to get good and wet. Close enough for spending a good day in Door county tasting some wine, beer, pies, fudge, etc. Scheduled a day of fishing out of Algoma ... successful and one 16 pound King Salmon fed our family of 7 ... YUM ... packed the rest up to take home. Alogma grocery store had everything we needed and very close by. Loved the large master bedroom ... with the windows open at night ... fell asleep listening to the waves. VonStiehl winery in Algoma was my favorite ... wonderful outside patio with a view of the bay. I would recommend this place to anyone and hope we get the opportunity to come back again.
We had a great time in the area and the home made us feel ... at home. Owner (Dean) was very accommodating and very prompt on answering questions. Yard was set up for Bocce Ball and plenty of yard games. Also plenty of firewood. House was very clean and ready to stay in.
