Head 1 mile down the road to the Owls Head General Store for their famous "Seven Napkin Burger" (voted Maine's best Burger), Fried Haddock Sandwiches, delicious home made pizzas, or for your morning coffee and fresh baked blueberry muffins. In the water close by is a boulder, called a glacial erratic, that re-appears sitting on the sand when the tide goes out, dividing an arc of long low waves. Small rocky Treasure Island is a gem in the morning sun picturesque with its, stand of spruces and an ancient lobsterman’s shack. This is the evocative shore-scape view which can be recognized in numerous 19th c. paintings of the Maine coast. Most Beautiful Spot on Earth
Everything you told me about your property and everything I envisioned are all true. The surrounding areas were also
wonderful......beautiful air, scenery and food (so many great
restaurants). Thanks for a glorious vacation.

This house is set waterfront with iconic Maine Midcoast island views. The first floor living room was very cozy and tastefully decorated with nice plants, the kitchen and whole house was clean, the bedding was new and comfortable (this was very appreciated). The house is an older loved home. For the price, however, the bathroom situation was a bit bleak - shower/tub in v poor condition, have to stagger showers for adequate water, and the second bathroom is just a toilet in a very small closet. The sofa in the living room should be replaced. But on whole, we enjoyed the property greatly.

Thank you for your feedback and also we are glad you enjoyed the wide open view of the ocean, the islands and the big sandy beach, all of which is quite rare in Maine. The house has two wells, one of which is new and abundant, and have not experienced any problems since the new well was installed. We wish you had let us know so that we would have had a chance to address it and resolve it for you.
Thanks

September Vacation with Friends
I have just spent a most wonderful week in this lovely Home. The house was clean, bright, and just right for our needs. We love to cook and found the kitchen very well equipped for our needs. The views are fabulous and ever changing. The beach was great to walk along and find treasures in the sand. It was in a great location to do site seeing or just to sit and relax. I would be happy to come back here again.

We are so happy you enjoyed our house on the water in Maine. September is such a great time to enjoy the the beauty of this area and the water.
We hope you will return some day so you can once again relax and watch the boats go by.
What a beautiful home in such a special location. We loved our time on Owls Head in this unique spot. The views were amazing, and the house provided lovely linens and a very equipped kitchen. The property was spectacular and extremely private. Close to all surrounding towns, and local attractions. Honestly, we never wanted to leave the house! Only negative, not enough water supply for the house. Showering, laundry, washing dishes, it ran out multiple times. We made it work though and would certainly rent again! We miss it already.

Thank you Elizabeth! You and your group were wonderful guests. We're so glad that you enjoyed the house and your stay and we would be happy to have you back.
Thanks for your kind words.
First, please let me make it clear that I understood the cancellation policy of this property. Let me also make it clear that this was the first time that I have ever NEEDED to cancel a property. My son and fiancé decided that they were tired of all the wedding planning and moved their date up by months. As soon as I knew this was going to happen I contacted the owners/managers of this property. Mind you please that while we were communicating about this property Pre Booking they were very responsive. When I contacted them about hoping for some mercy in this instance they took weeks to respond. I have the screen shots of the dates. Anyway, I was hoping for some sort of quick communication and a resolve that would benefit both parties. Even since my most recent response to their reply they have not responded. Avoidance is not a professional way to do business!!! As wonderful as this property looks I would definitely avoid renting from this owner/manager.
The owners were lovely, responded to all issues is a prompt and friendly fashion.
Due to illness I had to leave one week into the month we had paid for. The owners graciously allow us to have another relative use a few of our days.
I would totally recommend this property

Hi Joanne,
I hope you and your family are well!
Thank you for your lovely review!!! We're sorry you had to leave early and we're happy we were able to accommodate your relatives to stay and enjoy themselves!
Wishing you our best!
A true gem on the water. The home was clean, well cared for and with all the necessities provided. It truly was a perfect summer home on the water. We brought our own kayaks and could put in and take out within a few hours of high tide. Each day we enjoyed cocktails with a view, watching the bots and yachts slide by on their way to points north and south. The location is excellent with only a short drive to Rockland but also a short drive to Camden and Port Clyde. If we had any issues it was that the shower pressure was lacking but other than that, it was a great place for us to get some rest and relaxation and enjoy the beautiful coast of Maine.
We really enjoyed our stay in Owls Head. The property provided easy access to several cute towns such as Rockland and Thomaston. The grounds and the waterfront were wonderful with plenty of space and very quiet. The ocean view from the home and property was wonderful. The Cape Cod style home was super cozy, well appointed, and met our needs. The adjacent beachfront and the easy walk or drive to Crescent Beach were great for exploration. Despite an early communication issue related to a typo in my email address, once the owners were made aware, they corrected and provided plenty of information.
Like many vacation homes, there were a few areas of the home that could use a little TLC... the bathroom could use an update, the recliner had some tears, etc. The fans and open windows were usually sufficient, but a few nights got a little warmer than I prefer in the bedrooms. The half bath was almost unusable in that it is a toilet (without a sink) added to a closet space between the stairs and the chimney. Better than only having one bath option, but would not necessarily be functional for all users. Beach access required a careful climb down some larger rocks and could be an issue for those who may be unsteady. Due to being on a well and the current water table, there was an emphasis on limiting water usage. This did not present much issue for our family, but I could see how this could be an issue if you desired lots of long showers, running multiple loads of laundry, etc. The exterior sitting areas were lovely, but there were none that were covered for enjoyment during rain.
All in all, a lovely stay.

Hi Jeff,
We're glad that you and your family enjoyed your stay and had the opportunity to spend a week in this beautiful location.
The 4 year long drought in Maine caused a low water table throughout the Mid-Coast. To ensure that we have an abundant water supply, we installed a second well, and this new one is 400' deep. Now we have 2 wells and plenty of water, regardless of environmental changes.
It is good that you followed the recommendation in our rental agreement to use caution on the rocks to access the sandy beach at the house. There is a short path on the rocks but it's best that one should be careful.
Maine is famous for the beauty of its rocky shore, but what is quite rare is that we have expansive lawns and our own, private, sandy beach. Instead of the typical mud flats, or stone and pebble shore, we have a real sandy beach. Many of our guests report how much they love exploring its expanses at low tide, or searching for beach glass. Some guests have told us how much they enjoy relaxing on the Adirondack chairs on the lawn while watching their kids play in the sand. We hope you had the same experience.
Historically, the rocky shore of Maine has been the inspiration for famous paintings by many famous artists and it's beauty continues to inspire those who visit.
Regarding the outdoor seating- the seating on the platform at the water's edge, this was newly purchased and the rental instructions ask that you put the cushions in the shed to keep them dry during inclement weather. Unfortunately, zoning does not allow for a covered structure to be built this close to the shoreline.
We apologize that the new chair for the living room had not yet arrived for your stay.
Thank You

Great house, great view!
We could have spent the entire time in the yard watching the sky and water. We did manage to tear ourselves away. First only steps away to the sandy beach. Then to nearby Rockland- a cozy town with contemporary museums, cool shops and restaurants. Evenings were spent grilling on the deck. We can’t wait to return to this quiet, private and mos t comfortable home by the water. Thanks to our friendly, helpful hosts.

Perfect Getaway
My husband and I truly enjoyed our weeklong stay in Owl's Head. Our children loved exploring Treasure Island at low tide and filled an entire jar with beautiful sea glass. The home was extremely comfortable and clean and allowed us to be close to the phenomenal Owl's Head Transportation Museum where we were exhibitors. We appreciated the helpful restaurant tips and ate at the Rockland Diner often!

Charming house, fully equipped, very comfortable, wonderfully located for touring, hiking and sightseeing the stunning area of Main Midcoast. The views of the ocean from the back garden are amazing and sitting by the water watching the tide and the enchanting "treasure island" opposite is very special. We loved every minute, recommend it wholeheartedly and would love to come back!

Idyllic spot and lovely cottage with caring owners
Classic Maine coastal life doesn't get any better than this! We have returned to this magical home time and again for over four years. The lovely cottage is extremely comfortable, clean and well equipped. The owners are gracious and go out of their way to ensure everything is in place for an unforgettable experience. Some of the nearby attractions include museums, galleries, state parks, beaches, restaurants, and light houses. But I often find it difficult to leave the private-feeling property; gorgeous views of sunrise and sunset, lobster boats, schooners and sailboats, sea birds and the changing tide are all magnetic and mesmerizing The beach that emerges at mid-tide is a wonderful place to walk and to find sea glass. I would highly recommend this property to anyone considering a vacation on the coast of Maine.
We were at one time, renters in this area in Maine. Infact, we rented this property for several years and were very lucky to have the opportunity to purchase it. We are only the second owners of this picturesque Maine house right on the water. The first family built this house as their year round home. They were in the Ice cream business in Rockland, Maine and shipped ice cream all across the state! The cute little shed that hold the beach chairs and beach toys was originally the hot dog stand in Rockland in the 1940's. The two car garage was originally the Rockland Ferry Ticket Office for Vinalhaven Island. It was brought to the property on a barge. Along with its charming history, the property also has a beautifully fragrant heirloom French lilac that came from the original family when they moved to Owls Head from Swans Island.
Why they chose this property
We searched for may years to find a Maine house to call our own. We wanted to find that quintessential Maine house with great un obstructed water views, access to the water, sandy beach, privacy, green lawns and easy access to town and we found it! This describes Treasure View Beach House exactly! We feel very lucky and are proud owners and we are happy to share it with others to enjoy and appreciate. The beauty, fun and relaxation this unique property has to offer is a treasure.
What makes this property unique
The unobstructed water views and with easy access to a quite private sandy beach make this a unique and rare location in Maine. Especially given that Maine is known for it's rocky coast! Our guests love to sit on the Adirondack chairs at the water, watch the sail boats go by and the enjoy ever changing light. They can even watch their children play for hours on the sandy beach while relaxing in those chairs. Inside, they enjoy open water views from the wraparound windows in the living room and water views from every bedroom.
