This is a nice home, however it could use a good cleaning and the outdoor area had broken pots, dead branches in walkways, broken furniture, dead plants and a bbq that barely worked. The lights outside come on during daylight hours and turn off when it's dark and would be useful. I don't know who is supposed to be maintaining this property but it was such a disappointment.

This place is so beautiful and the mountain views unparalleled! I enjoyed eating meals on the back porch looking at the mountains, watching sunsets from the hot tub and reading on the swing! Thanks for letting me stay, and I’ll be back if I return to the area!

Great location, comfortable home

This VRBO was great for my niece and I and her two young children (2 and 4 years old). There was a good variety of sleeping options, a big open living room, and a nice sun room. The grounds were perfect for the kids. Lots of areas to explore and we saw turkeys, deer, and even heard owls at night. We were close enough to Julian to a trip into town for dinner and also close enough to Wm Heise park for a visit to the playground and nature trail. The owners were responsive in their communications. The house was clean and had everything we needed. The outside could have used a little clean-up but it is spring and everything is growing quickly so probably hard to keep up. Overall a wonderful stay for our family.

Perfect mountain getaway close to town

The property and views were absolutely beautiful and the location was perfect! Very close to town, but far enough away from the crowds and traffic. The home was cozy and comfortable with plenty of room for our party of 6.

Quiet and Peaceful Location

My wife and I had another great stay at this beautiful property. If you are looking for a quiet, private location, this is the place! The home is spacious, with an open space living room, kitchen and dining room. There is a large primary suite and two additional bedrooms, plus a sunroom with a murphy bed. Primary suite bed is very comfortable, as is the living room furniture. Outside the home is a large amount of acreage, perfect for exploring. We were visited every day by a deer, who would hang around close proximity to the house. The property is very quiet and has tremendous views of the night sky. Being at altitude, if there are no clouds, it is a very beautiful sight. The quaint, mountain town of Julian is just minutes away. It is an easy town to explore, on foot. All-in-all, this is a great place to homebase for a visit to the mountain and desert area of San Diego County.

Julian Backcountry Getaway

This mountain top country farmhouse is as wonderful as it sounds. The house is bright and spacious with wonderful views of the countryside. It is surrounded by acres of nature to gaze upon and explore. It is conveniently located close to Julian, Wynola and William Heise County Park. Great vacation spot!

Beautiful views and plenty of space.

We started off the week with nice weather and ended it with snow. We were thrilled. The house had all the amenities that we needed and plenty of room for the four of us. We visited Mt. Palomar and around Lake Cayumaca. Psycho kitty did show up and we fed her but we couldn’t pet her. It’s a great comfortable house with alot of decorative pieces around. I had to move some things so they were out of harm’s way. We cooked most of our meals there but needed to clean the oven to cook one of Mom’s pies. Well worth it !!! Thanks for the experience and we would love to book the property again.

Wedding Weekend

Perfect place for our group attending a wedding nearby. The property is quiet and secluded, but still close to town. Access via codes made check-in a breeze. The views are incredible and photos do not do it justice. The house was extremely comfortable and we all wished we could have stayed longer. It comfortably slept 6 adults and was well stocked with everything we needed; linens, towels, kitchen supplies, TP/paper goods, firewood, etc. The hot tub was a huge bonus, especially during the late season snow storm that rolled through one day. I highly recommend staying here for any trip to Julian.

Comfortable home in the Julian countryside

The home is beautifully situated in the hills just outside of Julian. The rooms were comfortable and there was plenty of bed and bath linens. The kitchen was stocked with all of the cooking items needed to prepare meals, but the organization of the drawers and cabinets made it difficult to find some things (I realize that this is most likely an ongoing problem with so many different people using the kitchen). There was absolutely no toilet paper in the entire house and inly a 1/4 box of kleenex. We had to go into town to purchase some. We also had a plumbing problem with the garbage disposal and it overflowed into the dishwasher which flowed onto the kitchen floor. We hadn't put anything down the disposal except two pieces of bread, so it had to be broken before we got there. The owner said he would come up to fix it on Saturday afternoon (after our stay was over). Fortunately there was a sink in the mudroom we could use, but it did make meal prep difficult. The home was very comfortable and if the sink and TP issues didn't happen, were would give it 5 stars

Exquisite Hill Top Retreat

Everyone in our family loved this property (we had a 3 and 5 year old, 19 year old, my husband and my mom in our group). It is very secluded and beautiful, and the home is spacious, perfect for families. We really enjoyed the jacuzzi, and the king bed was comfortable. Those sunset views from the property are very special. I wish we can make this an annual family vacation, i would definitely stay here again.

great location!

Great location!! On top of hill with nice views all around. The property is large, there are multiple small sitting areas around the property, but they did not look used or inviting. The property itself could use some major love and maintenance. There is a jacuzzi which did not look clean and then there wer small frogs in the jacuzzi and then there wer dead frogs in there...and they got sucked into the filter and the spa smelled icky. THAT needs maintenance. The BBQ was great for large parties. The propane ran out midway through the meal. Called the owner and luckily there was a partial tank in the shed. There is a feral kitty who is really sweet, but won't come to you...hence...feral, but she was happy to be fed. The owners leave kitty kibble in the fridge for you do feed her! NICE!!! You bring your own food and drink, tho there are condiments. We found a LOT of them expired...waaaaay expired. The inside is one big great room with kitchen and dining attached. It was good, comfortable...lots of spiders in the wood cabinet which is the living room table...Master bed is comfortable and the view is amazing!! With some TLC the property has a ton of potential...plenty of parking and turn around space...loved the sound of the crickets...a TON, and owls. Saw turkeys and a deer on the way up the drive way...other than that...birds...we had a very relaxing quiet few days. Oh! ice maker and water sp out from the fridge did NOT work...

Julian Visit

Nice place. Comfy beds. Peaceful surroundings and felt safe. Loved all the natural light in every room! My only suggestion would be the option of curtain/blinds in windows for places like the bathroom and bedroom so one can choose to close them for feeling of privacy especially at night. Other than that, the place was perfect and we’d love to come back. We may just have to have back up plan for covering at very least bathroom windows.

Comfortable home in the mountains

The home was very comfortable from the living area to the bedrooms. Large bathrooms with showers. The view from the Master Bedroom and patio was beautiful.

Tranquil

Came with the family to experience our new telescope. The house has a clear view of the sky. When we were here in December we knew we would be back. I need a king size bed so this was ideal. Nothing lacking. Enjoyed the sounds of doves, donkey, cows, rooster, owl, rustling leaves., etc. TV offerings were useful for streaming. ALL GOOD HERE.

Beautiful, quiet location

My wife and I had a fabulous, although short 3 day stay, at this wonderful home. The location is a 5-minute drive to downtown Julian. The setting is very private, almost a quarter mile from the road, and behind a security gate. The home is very spacious, with an open space living room, kitchen and dining room. There is a large primary suite and two additional bedrooms, plus a sunroom with a murphy bed. Primary suite bed is very comfortable. The outside property is spacious, with plenty of seating areas throughout the yard and comfortable seating on both the front porch and back deck. We were able to use a walker throughout the house, in all rooms, however, the yard is a bit too uneven for wheeled mobility use. The primary bathroom has good grab bars, for stability. The property is very quiet and has tremendous views of the night sky. Being at altitude, if there are no clouds, it is a very beautiful sight. All-in-all, this is a great place to homebase for a visit to the mountain and desert area of San Diego County.

Wedding in Julien

We (my husband, 2 siblings and my mother) were in Julien for a family wedding at a nearby venue. The house was very comfortable and the owners added grab bars in the master shower and water closet for my 90 year old mother which was very helpful. It was lovely setting and the house was very comfortable and homey.
