About Karen Dickinson
Greetings from the mountains! I'm Karen Dickinson, and I consider myself lucky to be this generation's custodian of the old homestead. It's truly a special place, offering a direct link to another time, and another way of life. I'm committed to its preservation and to sharing it with the wider world. I hope to develop an on-going relationship with a few families, probably from Seattle, who want to make the farm a regular part of their lives. As I am living just 1/2 mile down the road, I will be on hand to personally get you settled in and make sure your stay is a wonderful experience. Wanna learn how to preserve peaches? hear about the best trails and the hidden berry patches? swap stories about horse riding wrecks? learn how to get the eggs from under a sitting hen without getting pecked? Call me and we'll talk about having you up. My family and I look forward to getting to know you and yours. Cheers, Karen

Lovely winter getaway
Grandparents , our kids, 3 yr and 5yr grandchildren loved this place with beautiful snow to play in and build a fort. House was very comfortably maintained with all you’d need. Kids found plenty of nooks for hideouts. We cooked brownies and all our dinners in big farm kitchen. After a day of snow play, the hot tub was wonderful. I can’t say enough good. We’ll definitely be back
I'm so glad you and yours enjoyed your mountain snow time. And I hope you're serious about returning, 'cuz we'd love to have you back. Thanks for being such great guests!
Amazing family getaway
Our family with 3 teenagers had an amazing time and I am thankful you share your family homestead! We enjoyed chess, cards, baking, cooking, hiking to the tree house, hot tub, the chickens, eggs, wildlife sounds at night ... and snow! Such a great getaway for the holiday start. We will be back!
You and yours were a delight to have on the property. Please come back any time!
We stayed here for an extended weekend with family. There was snow on the ground which made the property look just beautiful. We loved having the fresh eggs from the chicken coop in the morning for breakfast. The hot tub was perfect each evening after spending the day in town. Would definitely come back!
Thank you so much for bringing your lovely family for mountain time at our old homestead. I can't tell you how much we appreciated the clean house you left, though we have mixed feelings about it... You're supposed to be on vacation! Not cleaning the house for the next guests. ;-) Please do come back again, and next time, leave the laundry to us!
We love it!
Great spot for a big family! This is our second year coming here for a family trip and the property is beautiful, we all love the house and the area. Thank you!
We had the best wedding experience getting married at Brown Family Homestead. They stayed in contact with us the entire year leading up to our wedding, helping us plan, stay organized, and answering any little questions that came up. The weekend of the wedding went so smoothly, and so much of it was owed to Karen and Hannah’s coordinating. Having them be the day of corrdinator was such a huge help in relieving my stress as the bride. Karen was constantly promoting us for what was to come next and kept everything running smoothly and on time. All of our guest kept raving about how beautiful the venue was. It was picture perfect to be nestled in between the mountains. Our first look photos by the lake also turned our gorgeous. The horses and chickens made it so fun for children at our wedding. We loved being able to have our gusts enjoy not only the dance floor, but the bonfire, and amazing landscape. The grooms room and tree house were also such an extra fun touch! We couldn’t have hoped for a better day. Thank you so much Hannah and Karen!!
Awwww, Geeeeee. We don't know what to say, except thank you for the sweet words. It made our day to help make yours.
But I have to be honest, what made the day was your incredible pre-plannning and great family and friends. It's a simple thing for us to mow the lawns and then float around your wedding like we planned it all, when truly, you did all the heavy lifting ahead of time. And then, when it was actually wedding day, everyone was free focus on the fun. The day was so magical, even your working vendors had a fabulous time.
Lots of love was in the air, and we at the Homestead very much appreciate the honor of sharing that vibe!
This place is absolutely amazing!
We just got married here less than a week ago and it was so beautiful and amazing! The rental house was really cute and had everything we needed during the stay! The stairs were a little steep, but there weren’t too many so it was fine! The treehouse is a super great place for newlyweds! It was really nice to have a small area away from everyone else. The treehouse is a little hard to get to in the dark without flashlights and does not have a bathroom in it. We had an amazing time here and Karen and Hannah are two of the sweetest people we have ever met! Highly recommend!
