My son and I had a fantastic stay in this lovely comfortable and historic cottage - exactly the right balance of remote mountain beauty, quiet snow-trail hiking, and distance to the ski mountain for a day or two of skiing. SO appreciate the accommodating down right friendliness of our hosts to boot! Now on my list of 'Absolutely fantastic and I hope to return' places!

Sweet Cottage!
The Icehouse, in Redstone, CO, was a terrific place to stay for a destination wedding July 2016. It was clean, quiet, charming & made us feel like we were experiencing Redstone, instead of anyplace Colorado. I worried that it would be too hot to get ready for the wedding, (air conditioning isn't typical in the hotels or other accommodations nearby), but the ceiling fans, blinds & great windows & breezes kept our cottage cool even on 80 degree days! It was nice to have the upstairs bedroom & bathroom for sleeping, and also have the downstairs full bath so both of us could get ready at the same time. We didn't need to use the washer/dryer, but it was nice to know it was there. We didn't use the full kitchen, but it would be great if you wanted to eat in. There were plenty of towels, bedding, dishes, glasses, etc., but I would bring extra bed pillows if you like more than one each; but I bet the hosts could help with that too.Besides being very clean, (cleaner than I think most nice hotels are), the Icehouse is decorated like you would your own cabin; prints, pictures and paintings of local scenes, and gorgeous wood paneling. This was our first VRBO experience and it was a success! Robert & Deb were great hosts, which for me meant give us info to get there & settle in, make sure all was well, & leave us alone although they made sure we knew they were available to meet our needs.I'm happy we stayed!

Great Mountain Getaway
The property is amazing! If you are looking for a quiet, romantic place to stay, this is the spot. The home is historic and clean. The views are amazing and wildlife is abundant. The town of Redstone has a charm that is hard to find anywhere else. Close to great hiking and the Redstone Castle. The Restaurant in the Redstone Inn had some of the best steak that I have had.
The only downside of the property is not that it is pet friendly (we brought our dog), it is that other people are not respectful with their pets. We do not allow our dog on furniture, it it was apparent that other people allowed their dog on the couch and the bed (dog hair on the couch and on the comforter). Not a big deal but it is annoying when people are not respectful. We brought our own yard chairs for the back to enjoy the view of the river, but other tourists were not respectful and decided that because their was no fence, they could just wander around the house right up to the back door. Not the fault of the property owners, strictly the fault of rude people that pass through.
The property owners are awesome and helpful. They live close by and made themselves readily available for anything we had questions or concerns for. I highly recommend this spot for a romantic getaway.

James, Thank you for the review and letting us know of the problems you had at the cottage. We are going to institute a new pet security deposit to help deal with the very few people that are not respectful. The cleaning staff will also be more diligent in reporting and correcting any future problems as well. We have ordered new fencing to match the neighbors to close off the front of the property to keep it more private. We look forward to having you stay with us again.
Bob and Deb
The place is immaculate and set up for success. All new appliances and excellent furniture and beds. Bob and Deb have a gem in a wonderful setting that is where you want to be for hiking and getting outside. Redstone is a nice little town with great food within walking distance and quiet at night. We will be back and highly recommend this property.
We have stayed in the Ice House several times and we love the the location and the charm! This year was better than ever as Bob and Deb have made some nice updates to the place.
Hosts are easy to reach and easy going. Comfortable and warm and furnished well, cute deck and outside space is amazing, grill works, and washer/dryer were great. 2 bathrooms is nice. Town is of course adorable. Get gas in Carbondale though!!
One thing: the fold out couch bed is awful-bar in the middle of the back, mattress VERY thin. We put it directly on the floor-better but not ideal. Maybe a new one? Little kids might not care, though.
Location is beautiful and very quiet. Property manager is next door and greeted us as we arrived. Home was spotless. Bed is extra comfortable. Loved everything about the short stay. Btw, food at hotel grill nearby was very good as was the pizza down the street.
This is a wonderful house, so comfortable with everything you need for a great stay! Very clean and so quiet! Loved hearing the river at night with the windows open. Redstone is a quaint little town and everyone was very friendly. We enjoyed fishing the river and exploring the area. Bob was a very knowledgeable and generous host! We hope to return someday soon!
This was a delightful place to stay. Bob made us feel very comfortable from the get-go. He is a great resource for things to do in the area since he has lived here for decades. This would be a place I would love to return to. The house is cute and clean with beautiful morning light. The kitchen is well stocked with cooking gear. You can’t go wrong here. 5 stars!!!!
We had a really nice time at the Icehouse! It's a lovely property sitting on Redstone's main street (probably the only one), close to excellent dining, artsy and fun shops, and a general store. The house itself is adorable, very cozy, and sits on the banks of the Crystal River. There's so much to do around the area, especially if you enjoy hiking and sightseeing. Don't miss Slow Grooving BBQ in Marble, Propaganda Pie, and Redstone Inn for dining.
The owners of the Icehouse are super friendly and willing to share information about the area. I highly recommend and hope to be back.
What a treat! The Ice House and the surrounding Redstone, CO area is truly a gem to behold! Bob and Deb are the best. Both took time to make introductions and suggestions for must see and experiences in this beautiful area.
Everything we were looking for To get away from city life. Bob and Deb are amazing hosts with so much local knowledge. . We cannot wait to go back again.
The house is lovely and in great condition. The kitchen is very nice to cook in. Very nice and quiet Main Street with beautiful scenery, drives, and hikes nearby. The property manager is friendly and helpful, goes above and beyond.
We did not get to spend NEARLY enough time in this beautiful home. (We were busy getting married nearby at the Redstone Inn) The home is everything I had hoped it would be - and more. Comfortable king bed upstairs with a balcony and windows/screened door opening up to the Crystal River. Beautifully done kitchen, large gorgeous full bath downstairs and a very convenient smaller second bath upstairs in the bedroom. A large backyard that overlooks the Crystal River - we thoroughly enjoyed the adirondack chairs by the river where we would have our morning coffee and took as many meals on the picnic table as we could. The homeowners are some of the nicest people we have ever met - we are truly thankful for their hospitality and kindness and this piece of paradise in Redstone.
This little cabin was AWESOME. Filled with historical bits and pieces, clean, and well-appointed. The owner is an incredibly nice person, and the neighbor (who owns the Mercantile next door) was super cool and very helpful. Redstone is quite possibly the coolest town in Colorado, but don’t tell a soul about it! Keep the secret!!!
We had the best time during our stay at the historic ice house! Bob was very helpful and everything went seamlessly. The house is great for a couple or small family. We were able to cook our own meals or venture out into Redstone or nearby Carbondale to try some local Restaurants. We especially enjoyed the pizza place down the street. Lots of great hiking in walking distance and overall a great location. Thanks for having us!
A renovated historic building - former ice house - this riverfront property has a beautiful view of the river, mountains and Redstone's coke ovens. Right on The Avenue, it's also just across the street from the Redstone Inn. It's a cozy spot especially suitable for 2 people but can accommodate 4.
The Ice house is a really nice rental property in downtown Redstone! The house is very comfortable and the view out the back is amazing. Redstone is such a unique place, we love it and the Ice house!
