Charming log cabin and pine cottage nestled in the pines with great waterfront and views on beautiful Cranberry Lake. This is the ideal setting for a large family gathering or several families as these two, beautifully appointed, year-round homes sleep 14 and 6 respectively. The maximum number of guests allowed is 20. Knotty pine walls and Adirondack style furnishings give warmth and charm to every room making it 'feel like home'. There are two fully outfitted kitchens and several outdoor grills, and each building has a full bath and half bath. The waterfront is great for swimming, canoeing, kayaking, fishing and boating and offers spectacular views in every direction. 3 kayaks and a canoe are yours to use and a special sloping dock has been added to allow easy launching. There are steps which are ideal for wading with the little ones, or gradual entry to the water. You can also dive or jump off the sturdy dock and swim to the raft. When it's time to come in, you can enjoy hot stove chats, cable TV, your favorite movies, board games, or catch up on your reading. Come create vacation memories that will last a lifetime.
Situated in one of the most scenic regions in the Northeast, Cranberry Lake is the 3rd largest in the Adirondack Park with 75% of the shoreline forever wild. The Lodge and Cottage are only minutes from town with 3 restaurants, grocery store, liquor store, ice cream stand, several gift shops, a gas station, public beach, public boat launch, and a marina that rents boats. There are countless hiking trails in the area, many State Parks nearby, and you are only 40 minutes away from the high peaks region where you'll find some of the most scenic trails anywhere in the country.
Our extended family stayed here during a wedding week of activities. There was ample room and privacy for everyone, including both the large and small cabins. The parking area was large enough for several cars too. We particularly liked the spacious great room, well-supplied kitchen and large dining table. We were impressed by the cleanliness and organization, especially the kitchen labels which helped keep things neat. The outdoor space was fabulous, from the dock and watercraft selection to the fire pit, which was used nightly during the crisp weather. The lawn was enjoyed by everyone during cornhole games, and our small children appreciated the wade-in ramp. All in all, we highly recommend this lodging for larger family gatherings. Oh, and the view was both exhilarating and peaceful at different times of the day. A wonderful vacation experience indeed!
Our group of 17 was thoroughly captivated with the peaceful beauty of the lake. Every evening we ate on the deck, admiring the water, or cozy in the great room of the big house if it was raining. Neighbors are close by, but quiet.
An early morning hike to nearby Bear Mountain followed by kayaking and a refreshing swim were typical of an enjoyable and relaxing week. But best of all was moonrise across the lake. Whatever activity was going on at moonrise, we dropped everything to stand and stare, awestruck, at the magnificence of moonbeams on the water.
Our host, Nora, was gracious and reassuring when we called to report broken dishes and even a PFD that was accidentally taken home. Her write-up about local attractions was especially helpful, from hikes to motor boat rentals to places to stop on the way. Nora's personal attention, the comfort of the two houses, availability of recreation equipment, and natural beauty of the lake made this a vacation we'd like to repeat.
Our family returned to the "Cub Cabin" for an annual winter Getaway. The cabin is clean, neat, and very well appointed for any extended stay. With ease of access to the lake, this in itself offers snowmobiling, fishing, x country, etc.. In addition, the close proximity to Tupper, Saranac, Lake Placid, provides almost endless activity/event choices.
Highly Recommended for any enjoyable winter interlude!
Our group thoroughly enjoyed our week! The accommodations were excellent for our large group. All enjoyed canoeing and swimming on the beautiful lake. We also brought a volleyball net and had a great time every evening with that. The property was clean. There was concern of a gas leak in the oven in the main cabin. We shut off the gas to the oven, but were still able to use the stove as well as oven in cottage. The owner checked on us the day after our arrival so make sure we didn't need anything and to let us know trash arrangements we told her of the gas issue and she will resolve after our departure as we were not needing the oven anyway. Overall, great experience - would return and recommend to friends.
