Traveling from southern Illinois, our 2 families of 8, 4 adults and 4 boys ages 15-20, found this home to be heaven in Acadia! We have been home now nearly one week and I’m still perusing my photos wishing we were still at TopOtheRidge.
First of all, the communication with Rai and Den were incredible. Pleasant, thorough, quick in response via text, a call, or email to answer any questions or help with vacation difficulties.
Secondly, the location, the views, the layout of the property CANNOT be beat! All 4 boys had their own place to sleep without feeling they were disconnected from the group. The amenities, the little labels and signs of where things are located, the convenience of adequate supplies seriously made this stay stress free!
However, it is the view and location that steals the show. Acadia stares right at you when you wake up and is there in the distance to help you fall asleep. The mountains and lake view is indescribably perfect. The dock, the crystal clear lake, and the kayaks were so much fun! We had to force ourselves to stick with our hiking plans in the Park because this location is so beautiful and so perfect in and of itself!
I truly hope we can visit again someday.
I have absolutely nothing to suggest because we felt so taken care of.
** things we learned:
- Most Maine grocery stores do not have plastic bags at checkouts. Bring a little handful from home.
- if you hike to the tower of Beech Mountain, you can see Top O the Ridge in the distance! So cool! Sunset is AH-amazing here!
- With summer traffic and cautious speed limits, anything on Mt.Desert is about 25 minutes away. But it doesn’t feel far…. Don’t let that deter you from this location.
- The sound system in the living room turns rainy days into really fun movie days!
- Buy groceries on your way in. Once you are here, you will NOT want to leave! You will instantly want to unwind, relax, and start your vacation!
- We did bring bug spray and used it one evening when sitting on the deck. From southern Illinois, we are very used to bugs, so we did not get too annoyed. However, I’ve seen others give warnings about Acadia being buggy. Just a heads up.
