La casa de playa Hazienda Antigua es una casa de playa a solo 50 metros de las finas arenas blancas de la costa esmeralda de Yucatán. Está vallado con cocoteros, totalmente equipado y totalmente amueblado. Hi Mattias, Villa del Faro was so great, with its nautical theme. When I was there a couple drove up to the house and excitedly asked to see it--he was a ship's captain from Cancun and the lighthouse drew him in. I felt very comfortable and liked that the house was clean and homey, with all the things I needed for cooking and eating (and wine drinking!). Its proximity to the beach--just a moment's walk down the sandy access road across from the house--was super. And it was a real treat to find reading lamps in the bedroom. Thanks very much, I'll be back for sure.

A relaxing week in El Cuyo at The Lighthouse

Thanks for a great relaxing week week in Puerto del Cuyo. Away from the crowds! It really was a real mexican experience mixed with adventure, a treat for all of our senses! We practically had the beach for ourselves and met up it with your other guests in your beautiful Lighthouse. We even became friends with the Family from Germany... The Villa was wonderful and clean, the beaches great, the food fresh and tasty, your caretaker and his family couldnt have been more helpful. We just relaxed on the beautiful white sandy beach, swam in the warm ocean, ate coconuts and drank the fresh coconut milk, then Christian came and prepared baked fish....absolutely wonderful. The pictures on your website dont do it justice and have been accurate, thanks for all your help, as well as the easy and honesty thruout reservation process. We will be back

My husband and I were in Heaven

My husband and i were in heaven. We ate fish and other local delights during our trip.The beach was nice, clean and the waters very calm. Most days we would walk for miles without any other turists. The water was warm, clean and the waves gentle enough even for little kids.This home is truly a wonderful place to unwind and relax. We knew little Spanish and at the caretakers little english, but we just magaged fine. July weather was perfect for us. A word of caution, if you are looking for entertainment, shopping malls, casinos and so on, you should stay in Cancun or Playa del Carmen. If you would like to go to a place to relax, swim in the emerald green waters of the caribbean, collect seashells, spend time with your Family and play a little bit, Puerto del Cuyo is the place you shouldnt miss. We would definitely come back here again anytime.

It was great stay at Hacienda Casa Maya villa. So close to the beach and the view is just fantastic!

We had some challenges on arrival as no one met us and when they did there was no reservation found(( so you shall always let them know time of arrival. Lots of mosquitos bring as much repellent as possible

Nice place to be

We have a great time in El Cuyo wih our two kids. The house was very close to the beach and Matthias and his family was very nice and they send us a lot of information before we arrived in Mexico. The house and the neighbours were very quiet and it was no problem that the kids play on the sandy street. It was only 5 min walking to the center of the small villiage El Cuyo. We would book the house every time agian if we come again to El Cuyo!

Einige unliebsame Überraschungen

Wenn man nach Mexiko fährt, muss man sich auf einige Widrigkeiten einstellen. Die Sauberkeit ist mit deutschen Maßstäben nicht vergleichbar, die Funktionalität der Infrastruktur ist gewöhnungsbedürftig. All das war mir bewusst und damit konnte ich leben, selbst mit der Ameisenplage in der Wohnung und den Mosquitos. Etwas genervt war ich aber von einigen unliebsamen Überraschungen: - Die "Strand Hazienda" liegt gar nicht direkt am Strand (wie der Name und das erste Bild suggeriert). Um zu diesem Strand zu kommen, muss man über die Straße und dann durch den Garten anderer Häuser (was deren Bewohner möglicherweise etwas komisch finden). Vom Meer direkt zurück in die Wohnung zum Getränke holen geht also nicht. - Die Klimaanlage muss extra bezahlt werden. Das steht zwar in der Anzeige, aber eher versteckt zwischen vielen Hinweisen auf einen VW Käfer, den man zusätzlich mieten kann (was ich bei den Straßen nicht empfehlen kann). In der Liste der Ausstattungsmerkmale (die ich gelesen habe) steht nichts von einem Aufpreis. Plötzlich wurde die Wohnung um knapp 15 % teurer. Und das für eine ausgesprochen laute Klimaanlage. Dabei schlafen konnte ich nicht, also habe ich sie vorher voll aufgedreht, um im Kühlen einzuschlafen. Dank nicht vorhandener Isolierung bin ich mehrfach schweißgebadet gegen 5 Uhr aufgewacht, weil es schon wieder ziemlich heiß war. - Der Internet-Zugang war ein schlechter Witz. Es gibt einen USB-Stick für zwei Wohnungen, man muss sich also mit den Nachbarn abstimmen. Da es ein Stick ist und nicht etwa WLAN, braucht man einen Computer, der mit dem Teil umgehen kann. Mit einem Tablet oder Smartphone ist man aufgeschmissen. Am besten war die Geschwindigkeit: Die Startseite von Google brauchte ca. 150 Sekunden (!) zum Aufbau, bei ca. 3KB pro Sekunde. Recherchen zu Reisezielen in der Umgebung würden Stunden dauern. Aus meiner Sicht unbrauchbar. - Noch ein weniger gravierendes Beispiel, was aber nervig ist: Die Fotos zeigen ein Bett mit einem Arrangement von Handtüchern darauf. Ich bekam ein einziges, winziges, sehr altes Handtuch (in Deutschland benutzt man sowas zum Händeabtrocknen). In der Hausordnung wird es dann als Vorteil hingestellt, dass man ja einfach vorher sein eigenes Handtuch kaufen kann. Wo soll da bitte ein Vorteil sein? Für mich ist eine Klimaanlage und ein funktionierendes Internet wichtig, beides war nicht überzeugend. Insgesamt kann ich die Wohnung nicht empfehlen.

Christmas time in El Cuyo

Family of 4 (two older daughters) stayed at the Hacienda Antigua for 5 nights. Mattias' directions and shopping lists were very helpful (i.e. essential) and Remigia was wonderful. We were nearly a day late, due to a mid-flight turnback, but Remigia was easy to find, and she greeted us that afternoon with traditional Christmas food- sandwiches of onion and pavo, and sopa de frio (?). The miles long deserted beach was just what the doctor ordered. We enjoyed the town in the evening, watching jerseyed soccer teams go at each other for hours and the drive along the sand road to Rio Largarto, with flamingoes (nicknamed flaming-o's) to our left and ocean to our right was unforgettable. I would definitely return.

Viva Mexiko!!

Wir waren bei Mattias mit meiner Frau in Juli 2014. El Cuyo ist wie ein Traum..es gab dort null (!) Touristen, wir hatten den Strand nur für uns. Menschen in El Cuyo sind freundlich und wirklich sehr nett. Man fühlt sich dort auch sehr sicher. Wetter war Super, jeden Tag Sonne vielleicht hat am Abends zwei mal kurz geregnet. Von Cancun nach El Cuyo braucht man ca. 3 Stunden mit dem Auto. Es ist sehr wichtig aufzupassen, dass man richtige Weg nimmt, nicht mit dem Autobahn fahren! (Navi hat uns erst falsche weg gezeigt und wir mussten anstatt ca.150 km ,300 km fahren. Die Hauptstraßen in Yukatan sind ok, beim anderen muss mann aufmerksam sein. (ab und zu(!!) es gibt große Schäden, besonders zwischen Colonia Yucatan und Tizimin). Mit dem Auto wir haben keine Probleme gehabt. Polizei hat uns nie gestoppt, obwohl es gab mehrere Kontrollpunkte. Wir sind auch zwei mal durch die Nacht gefahren und war alles ok. Ich könnte sehr viel über El Cuyo und Yucatan schreiben, aber ich denke am bestens wäre alles selbst zu erleben. El Cuyo ist 100% empfehlenswert! Ich hoffe wir finden Zeit nochmal nach El Cuyo zu kommen.... LG Marek

Two and a half months in El Cuyo.

This was not the original plan, 6 weeks if I remember correctly. But if you need a place just to be, this is the place. The beach stretches for miles, the people are friendly and El Cuyo in general is a place to unwind. Remigia (the caretaker) has made our stay even better and our Spanish gets better with her help. We have the small studio at the rear of the main house, the space serves our purpose as a couple. We have taken to cooking, eating and relaxing in the enclosed palapa. It really is a godsend! Many other visitors (from the other apartments) have joined us in the cool of the evening relaxing and enjoying in our mosquito proof enclosure. Food shopping is limited in El Cuyo, small items can be purchased in town; bread, beer, some vegetables, some meats etc. For larger shops we head to Tizimin, it is about 80km away. There are 2 supermarkets there, we now check both of them as depending on the day each has different items. As our time here progressed our want to go to Tizimin declined, relaxing is what we wanted not traveling to shop! To do this we needed a larger fridge, Mathais was very responsive to the request and a larger fridge was dragged in the very next day... I had never known how good ice was ;-) Don't expect a Cancun experience here, expect a simple relaxed vacation in a safe friendly Yucatan town.

Suns halos glücklich

Wir verbrachten 3 wundervolle Wochen in der Hazienda Antigua. Der entgegenkommende Vermieter Mattias kam meinen Wünschen bereits im Vorfeld sehr entgegen und organisierte vieles. Auch vor Ort sorgte die Haushälterin Remigia und Claudio dafür, dass wir uns sehr wohl fühlten.Ein ausserordentlicher Service der mir sehr zu gute kam, war die Hilfeleistung auf Ausflügen oder vor Ort, denn ich bin im Rollstuhl. Die grosse herzliche Gastfreundschaft der beiden bleiben uns in sehr guter Erinnerung. Muchas Grazias. Danke Mattias, dass du auch während unserer Ferien stets für Fragen zur Verfügung standest. Wir werden wieder sehr gerne in der gepflegten, schön gelegenen Hazienda Ferien buchen. Am liebsten wären wir geblieben.

Un paradiso!

Siamo stati per 10 giorni nella hacienda antigua nel mese di gennaio. un posto veramente bello, fatto per rilassarsi. la casa è attrezzata con tutto il necessario. remigia, la "housekeeper" una donna molto gentile, che cucina divinamente. e che dire di mattias? ci ha aspettato all'aeroporto, sia all'andata che al ritorno, abbiamo scherzato insieme.... una persona squisita! i 10 giorni sono passati in un batter d'occhio: spiaggia deserta.... partite di pesca con claudio, il marito di remigia..... barbecue di pesce o carne..... visite nelle località vicine (tizimin, rio lagartos, valladolid, merida, chicche itza). se volete veramente ricaricare le batterie questo è il posto più adatto, anche per le famiglie con bimbi piccoli (l'acqua è poco profonda per molte decine di metri dalla riva). grazie mattias, torneremo da te se possibile! sorin & madeleine

L'HACIENDA ANTIGUA N'EST PAS SUR LA PLAGE !!!”

Grosse déception après 11 heures de vol et 3 heures de taxi, la maison n'est PAS sur la plage mais sur le bord d'un large chemin de sable qui dessert les maisons de ce quartier résidentiel ! Quand les 4 x 4 passent , cela dégage des nuages de sable sur la terrasse devant la maison et cela est très désagréable ! En effet à la lecture du site on a le sentiment que la maison est en bord de plage ! en réalité il n'y a pas de Beach Terrace , ni de vue réelle sur la mer, quant à la vidéo du site elle concerne une autre maison ! Autres points désagréables à notre arrivée, la maison n'avait pas été aérée et il faisait une chaleur étouffante malgré les ventilateurs , de plus il n'y avait pas une goutte d'eau potable dans la maison ! ( bonbonne d'eau vide ! ) ATTENTION la CLIMATISATION est en option et hors de prix ! 20 Euros PAR JOUR !! A part cela , la maison est conforme à la description et assez grande pour 3 personnes et elle est bien équipée . Ce village est très isolé et nous conseillons fortement de prendre un véhicule, organiser des excursions en bus s'avère très long ( 2 heures de bus pour rejoindre Tizimin ) La réserve de Rios Lagartos ne peut se faire en bateau que de Rios Lagartos et il faut 3 heures de bus pour s'y rendre ( seulement 1 heure en voiture). Le village en lui même ne présente pas d'intérêt , la plage est longue , jolie et très calme mais avec beaucoup de vent en cette saison ! la population est accueillante et il est très facile de trouver un pêcheur et d'acheter du poisson frais ! il est nécessaire de se procurer une grille pour le faire cuire au barbecue de la maison ( en partage ) . Il existe bien une connexion Wifi avec une clé 3G qui fonctionne lentement mais correctement, mais là aussi la clé est en partage avec les autres locations , ce qui peut poser un problème. Aucune activité gratuite n'est proposé , tout est payant , Vélos , Kayaks ...... Nous avions accepter de réserver une semaine au lieu des 5 jours prévus au départ en échange d'un tarif particulier pour l'aller retour en taxi entre l'aéroport de Cancun et la maison. Tarif inscrit dans le contrat de location mais qui n'a pas été respecté ! nous avons payé le tarif normal voire un peu plus ! nous avions aussi demandé que le chauffeur de taxi s'arrête pour acheter une carte SIM , la non plus cela n'a pas été fait ! Nous pensons que passer 5 jours dans ce village est largement suffisant car il n'y a strictement rien a faire que se reposer!

Erholung pur

Wir haben in El Cuyo, Villa Antigua, super tolle vier Wochen im November 2012 verbracht und möchten allen noch mal unseren ganz lieben Dank sagen. Angefangen vom Transfer vom Flughafen nach El Cuyo hat alles super toll geklappt. Dir Mattias lieben Dank für die tolle Organisation und dass du für uns immer ein offenes Ohr hattest. Mit dem von dir gemieteten VW hatten wir auch unseren Spass. Trotz, dass du in Cancun warst und die Entfernung wirklich nicht die naheste ist, hat die Verständigung per Handy oder E-Mail super gut geklappt. Die Leute in El Cuyo sind super nett und Dank der sehr liebevollen Betreuung von Remiga, die wir samt ihrer Familie sehr ins Herz geschlossen haben, haben wir uns sehr wohl gefühlt, dass wir im Mai 2013 wieder hin fahren wollen. Diesen Urlaub werden wir auf jeden Fall nie vergessen!!! Übrigens: Das Essen im Miramar hat uns super toll geschmeckt und war im Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis günstiger als bei Conchita. Der Service war auch besser! Wir sind allerdings fast jeden Tag da gewesen und das Team hat uns – auch ohne Bestellung – kleine Köstlichkeiten zum Testen angeboten.

El cuyo " Liebe auf den ersten Blick"

Als wir in Cuyo angekommen sind da war unser erster Satz " das ist Mexico". Wir denken fast jeden Tag an unsere Zeit in Cuyo. Es war wirklich sehr schön. Das Haus war sauber und der Service gut. Was uns aber am besten gefallen hat , waren die Menschen die in Cuyo leben. Sie sind wirklich immer sehr nett gewesen und hatten immer ein Lächeln im Gesicht. Für unsere Verhätnisse leben sie wirklich sehr einfach aber man hat immer das Gefühl gehabt das sie glücklich und zufrieden damit sind. Wir haben schon viel von der Welt gesehen, aber unsere Zeit in El Cuyo hat einen bleibenden Eindruck hinterlassen. Wenn wir wieder nach Mexico kommen dann immer nach El Cuyo. Matthias wir möchten uns auf diesen Weg noch einmal für Deine perfekte Betreuung bedanken. Wir wünschen Dir noch viele Gäste die diesen Ort auch so schön finden wie wir. El Cuyo-einsam und ruhig

Hallo liebe Reisefreunde , Wir sind Ende November in El Cuyo aufgeschlagen und fanden eine wirklich einsame und ruhige Umgebung vor. Menschenleer das war schon seltsam aber ok.wir wollten es so haben. Das Objekt war in guten Zustand nur drinnen war nicht alles vorbreitet wie es sein sollte .Remigia als Verwalterin kaum präsent und nicht so exakt ,Trinkwasser gab es erst am nächsten Tag alles andere folgte erst auf Anfrage etwas unvorbereitet so war der Eindruck.Aber naja .... Mit dem Käfer sind wir gut zurecht gekommen haben uns ohne große Probleme oder sonstiges recht gut durch Mexico bewegen können .Haben in jeglicher Hinsicht keine negativen Erfahrungen zwecks Sicherheit und Unfreundlichkeit von Einheimischen feststellen können . Gut Müll ist überall zu finden leider auch am Strand aber damit muß man leben .Restaurant mäßig sind wir gern ins La Chonchita gegangen man wurde immer freundlich empfangen und gut gegessen dazu .Ausflugsmäßig empfehlenswert die Maya Stätte In Ek Balam sowie Bootsausflug in Rio Lagratos auch Ilsa Holbox wunderschön, nicht zu vergessen die koloniale Stadt Valladolid sehr überschaubar und von der Entfernung über gute Strasse erreichbar kann man auch bei Dunkelheit gut befahren .Auch mal experimentieren und ganz verlassene Straßen befahren und die herrliche Stille genießen total irre.Strandmäßig war man allein auf weiter Flur das Wasser der Golf von Mexico hm... nicht so schön mit Karibik nicht zu vergleichen .Trotzdem hatten wir eine schöne Zeit in El Cuyo .

Wunderbarer Urlaub

Eine Woche haben wir in der Hazienda Antigua verbracht und es hat uns sehr gut gefallen und wir können die Hazienda uneingeschränkt weiteremfehlen. Es war alles da was wir brauchten, der Strand menschenleer das Meer wunderschön. Die Haushälterin Remigia war bei Fragen immer für uns da - etwas Spanisch ist da sehr von Vorteil. Wir haben uns in der relativ kurzen Zeit viel angesehen und sind einige Kilometer mit dem Auto gefahren, was keine Problem war. Wer Mexico abseits vom Massentourismus erleben will und die Warmherzigkeit und Freundlichkeit der Menschen spüren möchte sollte nach El Cuyo fahren. Vielen Dank für alles Mattias. Nice Getaway at the Hacienda Antigua

We wanted to just get away fro a week,..and found this Hideaway online. We had a wonderful , relaxing time to clear mour heads and spent some time together. the Hacienda was clean , well equipped and the caretaker Remigia welcomed us upon arrival and offered her services for us during our stay. El Cuyo is a nice, quiet, safe and laidback Beachtown in the Yucatan with lots of Coconut palmtrees. The locals were mnice, friendly and we found them very helpful. Would recommend this to anyone that looks for an original place with Nature without lots of Tourists around

Tolles Haus am Strand - super Service!!!

Nochmals besten Dank für euren wirklich sehr guten und schnellen, freundlichen Service in Cancun und El Cuyo. El Cuyo ist ein wirklich netter kleiner und gemütlicher Ort, den wir sehr mögen und hat einen super Strand (auch das Meer ist natürlich klasse) :-) -Die Villa ist toll und gepflegt - die Lage des Hauses ist ebenfalls sehr schön, in Cuyo ist man ja fast direkt am Strand und ins Dorf ist es auch nicht weit, das geht ja sehr gut zu Fuß - wir haben uns immer sicher gefühlt, die Käferfahrten waren ein nostalgisches Erlebnis, bei dem man immer auf der Hut vor Topes und Schlaglöchern sein mußte, so hatten wir uns das auch in etwa vorgestellt - Remigia war freundlich und immer schnell zur Stelle, wenn es etwas zu regeln gab - Wir waren in Chichen Iza (früh da sein, sonst MEGAVOLL!!!!) und Ek Balam, war eine schöne Tour, beides lohnt sich, ebenfalls Valladolid Also: Wir haben keine Klagen können Haus und Vermieter nur uneingeschränkt empfehlen!!!! Nochmals die besten Grüße und danke für die schöne Zeit!!!!

Relaxing week with the Family

After one week of Cancunin Villa Maya de Cancun,...we have decided to go and relax a bit into a small Beach Village....This was our 3rd trip to El Cuyo,..before we spent a really nice time in the Hacienda del Cuyo,..and now we have chosen the other Property and enjoyed that one as well.the Kids ( 4 and 8) had a blast,..we used the Kayaks and Bycicles, played Soccer on the sandy Beach,..collected seashells and ate delicous, fresh and inexpensive seafood. The House was clean, the caretakers friendly and helpful. we did some excursions with Juan and Ramiro to Rio Lagartos, Ek Balam and did a snorkeling trip thru them...Awesome! We definitely will be back,...

Paradise, Friends and great Hospitality

We stayed one week in this beautiful house, with wonderful people and and the spirit of great hospitality. The place is clean, safe and simply fantastic: an awesome view on the beach, an inspirative atmosphere - a great way to escape from this hectical world. For people who are looking for a place to spent 'time out from this globe' - this is the place to be. Access from cancun is easy. Mattias picked us up from the airport, passed us his mobile phone and checked on us several times if we are doing fine. The car we rented from him offered us a superb range of mobility and flexibility. Due to the excellent mobile contact we felt absolutely safe throughout our entire stay. A perfect guide, a caring friend, a generous landlord, and a wonderful family: we loved it! Thanks for everything - we definitely will be back

Fantastically....really can recommend it!

Thanks Mattias and Crew for a great relaxing week week in Puerto del Cuyo. Away from the crowds! It really was a real Mexican experience mixed with adventure, a treat for all of our senses! We practically had the beach for ourselves and only had to share it with your other guests in your beautiful Lighthouse. We even became friends with the Family from Germany... The Villa was wonderful and clean, the beaches great, the food fresh and tasty, your caretaker and his family couldn't have been more helpful. We just relaxed on the beautiful white sandy beach, swam in the warm ocean, ate coconuts and drank the fresh coconut milk, then the Caretaker came and prepared baked fish...absolutely wonderful. The pictures on your website don' t do it justice and have been accurate, thanks for all your help, as well as the easy and honesty throughout the reservation process. We will be back!

Adventure in El Cuyo's Lighthouse

The adventure begins. I am in Tizimin (south of El Cuyo) and happen into meeting and negotiating with a local property manager who handles property in El Cuyo. Deal done. WeI head to El Cuyo (a small fishing village with wonderful local charm) I am booked into Margaritaville's Caribbean Lighthouse Villa--- sight unseen. I was hoping for quaint, comfortable, and tranquil - and received more. I am guided by the local manager, who lives a short distance away with his family, to a home that is styled with a lighthouse turret. The accommodation fit my needs perfectly: two comfortable beds (I only needed one), refrigerator, microwave, hot plate, and utensils, and not surprising (but you can read about other places to stay that offer outdoor showers) an indoor shower. Across a sand road, between neighbors' homes, lay the Gulf of Mexico, all of maybe 50 yards. No noise, save one or two cars. I spot a few local beachcombers who are looking for wonderful shell treasures. I am wishing I was in turtle season, but the birdlife abounds. And, like the name says, I am enjoying my homemade margarita. (Don't forget to bring tequila, you can buy the rest - fresh limes and cane sugar, salt if needed, and time to make ice) El Cuyo is special, the people are helpful, and the tranquility marvelous.. I am going back next month, spending an extra day, going beachcombing, dining at a local restaurant (seafood, you think?), hit the beach including the lounges, and what ever else comes to mind - but not a lot. Of course, I will be staying at Margaritaville's Caribbean Lighthouse Villa. The Matthias family is wonderful in providing help and guidance for guests like myself. It is such a pleasure to have a place to stay where you feel like family before you arrive.

Ein ganz toller Urlaub mit Karibik Feeling

Hi matthias und familie, danke der nachfrage! es war sicher einer der ganz tollen urlaube! wir waren begeistert über das karibik feeling! die ruhe-der endlose strand- die freundlichkeit der menschen etc. was wir mitgenommen haben ist die erkenntnis dass vieles, was wir glauben haben zu müssen nur belastung ist und es auch mal ohne handy, internet sehr wohl geht! übrigens,der kaefer war natürlich zu der reise absolut passend! wichtig war dein handy welches du ins waherend der kaefer miete gegeben hast!! auch das stadthotel war ein guter tip- vor dem abflug entspannten wir uns noch im spa mit einer massage! die paar kleinen probleme wie stromausfall,gasflaschen austausch mit ramiro waren einfach nicht der rede wert! für mich ist el cuyo weiterhin ein thema weil es im vergleich zu cancun sich seine ursprünglichkeit bewahrt hat! beste grueße auch an deine liebe familie j&g PS: ideal waere es zum überwintern wenn leute mit waeren mit denen man gut harmoniert und das ambiente auch zu schaetzen wissen!

Ja, wir sind wieder im kalten D-Land... Gefallen hat es uns super. Haus war bei Ankunft sauber und ist sehr ordentlich eingerichtet. Aus unserer Sicht hat es an nichts gefehlt. Wir haben die Ruhe und Abgeschiedenheit sehr genossen. Remigia hat sich rührend um uns gekümmert. Eurer Haus würden wir auf alle Fälle weiterempfehlen und vielleicht kommen wir in den nächsten Jahren mal wieder. Grüße nach Mexico B.

Erholung im Leuchtturm

Wir haben im September 2 Wochen im Leuchtturm verbracht. In El Cuyo hat es uns sehr gut gefallen. Es ist aber nur etwas für Leute, die keinen All Inclusive Urlaub machen wollen. Es gibt dort viele Tante Emma Läden, es empfielt sich aber dennoch, bei Ankunft in Cancun (oder wo man ankommt), einen Großeinkauf zu machen. Verhungern wird man in El Cuyo zwar nicht, aber wer sich selbst verpflegen will und sein gewohntes Essen möchte, sollte sich vorher mit dem Notwendigsten eindecken. Wir hatten das Glück, ein Fischerfest miterleben zu dürfen. Es war sehr interessant und ein Erlebnis, wobei wir das Leben der Dorfbewohner richtig miterleben durften. Ramino und Juan haben sich gut um uns gekümmert. Juan kann zum Glück Englisch. Die Hausdame Ramina konnten wir leider sehr schlecht verstehen (nur mit Händen und Füßen und sehr schlechtem Spanisch haben wir es geschafft, uns zu verständigen), aber das ist ja unsere Schuld, da wir kein Spanisch sprechen. Wir hatten den Strand mit unseren Amerikanischen und Schweizer Nachbarn ganz für uns alleine und konnten Stundenlange Strandspaziergänge machen. Das schönste waren die Sonnen Auf- und Untergänge. Es empfielt sich einen Ausflug nach Rio Lagartos zu machen, man muss allerdings 1,5 Stunden pro Strecke einplanen, da man einen großen Umweg fahren muss. Aber es hat sich auf jeden Fall gelohnt. Wir haben sogar ein Krokodil gesehen und ein paar Flamingos und massig andere Vögel… Also wer Ruhe will und sich erholen möchte, für den ist El Cuyo ein Paradies. Wer aber ständig unterhalten werden will, der sollte in Cancun… bleiben. Der Leuchtturm war auch sehr schön. Die Terasse ist mit Blick auf die Straße, aber bei nicht mal 20 Autos bzw. Motorrädern am Tag stört das überhaupt nicht. Aber ich muss dazu sagen, dass im September Nebensaison ist und es überall sehr ruhig war. Wenn man einen Käfer dazu mietet, muss man sich bewusst sein, dass man in Mexiko meist nicht schneller als 80 fahren darf. Oftmals kommt man noch langsamer vorran. Es ist also ratsam, einen längertägigen Abstecher zu machen oder bevor man nach El Cuyo kommt, sich die Sehenswürdigkeiten anzusehen. Aber es ist schon mal ein außergewöhnliches Erlebnis, was man nicht jeden Tag hat. Wir haben zwischendurch einen Abstecher nach Chitzen Itza, Merida und Izamal gemacht. Was noch wichtig ist: ein großes Spanischwörterbuch ist ratsam, unseres war zu klein und konnte uns nicht so helfen, um uns mit Ramina zu unterhalten. Liebe Grüße, Anne und Martin
