Cottage, 3 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6)
Charming and private lakeside cabin on Mt. Desert Island close to Acadia National Park, one of the most beautiful parks in the United States. Built in the 1940s by a local family, the cottage has been owned since 1968 by our family and was remodeled in the late 1970s by a master woodworker. There is an eat-in kitchen, and the living room has a fireplace great for roasting marshmallows. There is a private dock, raft and a canoe for your use. This is a unique retreat from the bustle of the connected world, a place to listen to loons and rest, relax, swim and boat. Each bedroom sleeps two; the master bedroom has its own bathroom with a claw-foot tub. The other bathroom has a shower.
There is a lovely area to sit outside under the pines, along with a screened-in porch with a stunning view of Echo Lake and the Acadia and Beech mountains. This is a beloved family retreat, not simply a rental property, and available June, July and September and into October.

Why Claire Calcagni chose Mount Desert
Mt. Desert Island is one of the most beautiful and magical places I have ever been. The island is unique geographically, and is filled with beautiful hiking, walking, biking and ocean adventures. There is wonderful lobster and delicious blueberries.

Great Place and Wonderful Host
What a wonderful experience. The cabin is charming, spacious and comfortable with a beautiful view of Echo Lake. The owner is very helpful, accommodating and gracious. We would definitely stay here again!
Wonderful location and great cabin!
This cabin on Echo lake has wonderful charm and a cozy feel. Our family enjoyed swimming off the dock, paddle boarding and being on Echo Lake without a view of the road - only mountains of the national park off in the distance. The kitchen was well supplied along with towels and linens + canoes and life vests for water fun. A great way to have solitude while also access to the park on busy summer days.
We enjoyed our time at this property. It didn't have a dishwasher or laundry facilities but it far made up for these lack of conveniences with fantastic views, a well-furnished kitchen, and a lot of character. We loved the custom woodwork that defines the interior of this cabin-like property. And several nights we were serenaded by a couple of loons. We were chilled when we first arrived early in the vacation season, but the property was well supplied with seasoned and split hardwood. A great value for those looking for a Maine get-away on this beautiful, idyllic island that we continue to return at least every other year since we honeymooned here some 30 years ago.
Perfect Acadia Experience
This was our first trip to Mount Desert Island and I could not think of a better place to stay. The cabin was rustic, cozy and very well stocked with all of the day to day essentials. And the location was perfect, nestled among the many trails and a very short drive (no more than 20 minutes max.) to Southwest Harbor, Northeast Harbor, Bar Harbor and the entrance to Acadia National Park. We stayed warm on the cool September evenings with the living room fireplace and master bedroom wood stove and the wood pile, like the rest of the cabin was well stocked! The view of Echo Lake was incredible and we took full advantage of our own private dock to kayak every day. Thank you to Claire for being extremely accommodating and for providing quick responses to our inquiries. This will be our preferred lodging for our next trip to MDI!
We had a perfect vacation on echo lake. It was the first time our whole family could manage a vacation together in a long time. The cabin was perfect for our needs. We spent much time on the private dock where we enjoyed the breathtaking views and the beautiful loons that came to visit often. The photos of the cabin reflected the interior and exterior very well. We were very close to hiking, biking, and bar harbor. We felt very comfortable in the clean and well-maintained home.
The cottage is cozy and well stocked with everything needed to enjoy a good time there. The view is amazing and we made good use of the canoe. We highly recommend this property!
