We had the most marvelous family Christmas in your beautiful home. Frozen waterfalls, snow banked on the roads, frozen lakes; you just couldn't have asked for more. We look forward to renting your home again.

Thanksgiving in the Highlands

  • 5 of 5

This home is a showplace that is comfortable and in a fabulous location! We loved walking the hills and going down to the boathouse daily. Did not have warm clothes for canoeing... but REALLY wanted to! The home is beautifully decorated and stocked with great towels and kitchen ware to cook a traditional thanksgiving dinner. 0ur group included adults from 28 to 65.... no children .... perfect roads for walking! Day after Thanksgiving there were magnolia and greenery wreaths on the subdivision gates-- lovely! Loved Wolfgangs in the Highlands as well as other suggestions by the owner -- including a service to deliver and stack firewood!

From the beautifully furnished home (and kitchen) to the exquisitely manicured woods and lake, it was a special trip for our family, which included 3 generations--all of whom enjoyed it equally! An 11 on a scale of 1-10.

Beautiful property in the perfect location

  • 5 of 5

My family of 8, plus a baby, stayed in this home for a fall weekend get-away and we all LOVED it! The house is conveniently located near our favorite hike of Whiteside Mountain, so an easy drive into Highlands and Cashiers. The bedrooms are very comfortable with plenty of space and place to retreat. The owner has anticipated all your needs, making you feel like you're a family member staying as a guest in their second home. Kitchen was so fun to cook in! The main porch is lovely and inviting, making the living space feel even larger. We'd love to return. The neighborhood is one of the prettiest, natural landscaped areas in the area!

Great house in a great location

  • 5 of 5

This was our second summer in this wonderful house, located in a gated community almost half way between Highlands and Cashiers. The distinctive gates open to a landscape of beautiful trees, with rhododendron lining the road. The house is on a cul de sac overlooking the pond. It is beautifully furnished, with an open floorplan on the main floor that is great for socializing.. The kitchen is well appointed, and the decks gives you the feeling of being in a treehouse. Its floorplan would work well for three couples with ample privacy, one bedroom/bath upstairs and two bedrooms and baths on lower bath is across the hallway the loft has additional twin beds. The location gives you easy access to both Highlands and Cashiers, and the shops, restaurants, and activities that these little towns offer. The community boathouse on Lake Osseroga has canoes for use on the lake...which is always very calm!! It's a great rental....what more can I say.

Private and Immaculate

  • 5 of 5

My family of seven adults and one child spent the week of July 12th at this home. The home is located in a gated community between Highlands and Cashiers.

The quiet, immaculately landscaped gated community better ensures security and privacy, In addition, the home comes with access to a well maintained boathouse with canoes and access to a large lake. The home itself is the only home located on the lane, thereby providing more privacy. The community, with homes located on other lanes, allows for ample areas to walk.

There are two bedrooms on the lower level, one with its own bathroom, the other with a bathroom across the hall. Both bedrooms open to a large deck that runs the length of the home. There is another deck running the length of the home on the main floor with another bedroom with its own bathroom. There is a loft area above the main floor where my grandson and one of the adults slept.

We made good use of the gas grill on this deck and had most of our meals around the dining area inside and the dining area opening to the deck on the outside. Combined, these dining areas were ample space for eight. Both decks are deep enough that afternoon showers never posed a problem when sitting or eating on the decks.

We have been coming to Highlands twice a year for more than 15 years and have rented several different homes. For the privacy and cleanliness of the home and neighborhood, the ample and well maintained space of the home and the pleasant use of the two decks, this is our favorite rental.

happy campers

Our group of teacher friends have been traveling to the beach and mountains each year for 17 years now. This was by far our favorite mountain rental! The house was plenty roomy for our party of 8 and even though the weather brought us sub zero temps, high winds and snow, we throughly enjoyed our stay. The roads were plowed each day and we adventured out for short walks and fun photo ops. As others have stated, the house is extremely well stocked with kitchen items and dishes as well as garbage bags, dishwashing supplies, etc. - items we typically need to bring ourselves. The highest compliment we have is for the actual construction. The house is well insulated and noise from floor to floor is minimal which is nice for those of us who enjoy sleeping in. The owner was extremely helpful and we will definitely rent again!

CNN writes 'Just north of the GA-NC border, the Blue Ridge Mountains cradle a small community with the charm of a village and the panache of a major city. In Highlands, NC, it's not what you do, but the simple pleasure of relaxation that makes a vacation fulfilling. Unsuspecting city folk find their cluttered thoughts routinely interrupted by birds chirping, or the trickle of a brook running down moss-laden rock. As in the 1800's, families with the time now relocate to Highlands in the summer and fall to escape the oppressive heat of the southern lowlands. At 4,118 feet, it's the highest incorporated town east of the Mississippi River.
