Overview

About the property

Cottage, 3 Bedrooms + Other (See Description), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 8-11)

Rocky Pond Camp is located on Rocky Pond, a pristine 66 acre lake surrounded by mature woodland in quaint Hollis, NH, just north of the Massachusetts border.

Rocky Pond Camp is a rustic cabin built after The Hurricane of 1938; it has been in the family since, allowing many generations to vacation and enjoy summer outdoors on the shores of a quiet lake. It features exposed ceiling beams, wooden walls, doors, and floors, and simple furnishings.

The camp features a large gathering room with a woodstove, game table, couches, and armchairs. Two bedrooms on the first floor offer brand new queen-size beds. The second floor is set up as a dormitory with five twin beds and one full bed. The second floor is a great place for kids to stay. The camp sleeps 11 people comfortably. Well-equipped kitchen has everything you need to prepare family meals. Utensils and condiments are provided. The camp has a small ¾ bathroom with shower. A large screened porch faces the lake and provides a perfect gathering place for meals, reading, and relaxing.

Rocky Pond is a natural spring-fed lake. There are only six other houses and camps on the entire pond and no powerboats are allowed. From the camp you have a beautiful unobstructed view of the lake and see only one other summer house across the lake. Rocky pond is very clean and it is great for swimming and fishing. It supports abundant aquatic life including smallmouth and largemouth bass, pickerel, and yellow perch. Bring your own kayak and explore around, maybe you will find “The Rock” in the middle of the lake. The camp comes with its own private, sandy beach and raft.

Hollis is a classic New England Village abutting Nashua, NH and Pepperell, MA and just one hour from the Lakes Region of NH, The Seacoast, The White Mountains, and Boston. Hollis has a lovely Historic District with two small museums, a beautiful Congregational Church, and several small grocery stores and restaurants. Hollis also has town tennis courts and ball-fields. Hollis locals and visitors enjoy visiting the many local farms in the area that offer berry and apple picking at various times during the summer and fall.

Hiking, biking, fishing, swimming, and peace and quiet surround you…..at Rocky Pond Camp on Rocky Pond, Hollis, NH.

This is the first time this camp has ever been available on a weekly basis. So don’t miss out on this great opportunity.

Perfect!

  • 5 of 5

We had such an incredible time at Rocky Pond! My husband and I wanted to spend some time with our 18 year old daughter who is spending the fall in Nashua. The camp is close enough to Nashua to head over for a nice dinner, but far enough out of town to feel secluded. Hollis has a couple of nice eating spots and I think I stopped at nearby Lull Farm every day for treats. The camp has a great beach and fire pit. I drank coffee on the beach in the morning and wine in the evening. We had an otter that swam by twice a day. We canoed, picked apples, and took several hikes. Hollis is about 1.5 hours from the White Mountains and about an hour to Mount Monadnock. We made both trips. We also hiked nearby Beaver Brook. My brothers drove over from the South Shore and Philly. Our older daughter came up from Tallahassee. We are from Pensacola. There was plenty of room for everyone. The space was great. Kitchen, beds, bathroom, living room. Love that screened in porch. The wood stove kept us cozy at night. Such cool nostalgia too. Thank you so much Freddie for allowing us to stay at Rocky Pond

Simple Bliss

  • 5 of 5

Simple Bliss....There is no better way to describe Rocky Pond Camp. What a great time we all had! From ages 3 to 75, this is our group's third summer renting RPC.

The camp comfortably held from 1 to 10 of us. My small dog was graciously welcomed by the owner. I always keep her on a leash/long line when outside so as not to disturb the wildlife. There was nothing more she enjoyed than chilling on the porch looking out over the lake, relaxing down at the beach with us, or riding at the tip of my kayak enjoying the lake with me.

Saw moose swimming in the Pond, a Bald Eagle, heard fox calling at night and beavers swim their regular route across the pond. Wildlife abounds everywhere.

The camp is simple, yes, rustic as the ad indicates. If you aren't used to the rustic camp life, it's probably not the place for you. No TV. A simple radio, a small 3/4 bathroom. As a trade off, the enclosed porch is the best! Nothing like enjoying morning coffee, relaxing with a book or playing games on a rainy day out there. The large living area is a great gathering area, with a woodstove and plenty of seating for all.

The camp has basic, yet comfortable furnishings. Decorated as a camp should be, collections of memories are all around you. All utensils you need are there, and if something isn't, the owner is more than willing to help you out in any way she can.

Owner extremely responsive to needs, questions or concerns you might have. Just ask and questions are responded to and needs immediately addressed. Wondering if the camp is for you? The owner will let you view the camp in advance of your stay. She also does a complete walk through at the time of your arrival so that you can ask any questions or address any concerns you might have about the property.

I would highly recommend RPC if you are looking for a simple relaxing off the grid vacation (you will have electricity & simple bathroom amenities...it's a camp, not a hotel...) where you can get back to basics, spend quality time with friends & loved ones without the distractions of technology & really have the opportunity to appreciate the outdoors with the wealth of hiking, swimming, paddling (canoes provided with camp), & fishing opportunities around, RPC is the place

for you. (Note** it is a steep incline down to the pond. There is a lower drive that you can access to get to the upper level of the beach, but you still must be able to walk down an incline to access the water.)

5 star for owner customer service!!

Nice location, lodging needs work

  • 3 of 5

I hate to be the one voice of dissension among all the 5-star reviews, but I'm going to be, because I wish someone else had.

Pros:

Nice location, close enough to amenities that you can get to a store, go shopping, see a movie, whatever. Far enough out of the way that it is quiet, private, and peaceful.

Warm water, birds singing, etc.

No real neighbors (there is another camp 100 meters down the road, but you can't even see them).

The owner that I met was friendly and polite. She seemed very nice.

Cons:

The camp house itself is kind of a wreck. Dark. Dirty. Cluttered.

Literally, every flat surface has some junk on it, or junk stacked on top of junk. It was...overwhelming. On the cloudy/rainy afternoon(s), almost depressing.

The blades and grate of the fan in the bedroom were so caked with filth that I would not have run it even if it were 100F every night.

The bathroom is smaller than some airline lavatories I've been in, and the shower water pressure is non-existent.

To be frank, you'd be better off bringing a tent and sleeping bag, and pretending the house did not exist.

It's a great location, but it's not great to stay at. It can be though. It needs some (ok, a lot) of de-cluttering, regular cleaning and some attention to the maintenance of the place (the back desk/dining area floor is rotting; the front door is out of balance, doesn't open more than 1/2 the way, and is scratching a groove into the floor every time it's opened, I could go on for a page...).

Raise the price a little and hire a service. I'd have happily paid $150-$200 more if it meant the place was clean!

AMAZING!

  • 5 of 5

Spent time at Rocky Pond Camp instead of a hotel while our daughter played in a Memorial Day soccer tournament in the area and what a blessing it was to have this rustic, comfortable, peaceful place to come back to each day. The whole team came between games to swim and relax. Cooling off in the pond, lounging on the raft, canoeing and enjoying the perfect screened in porch. We comfortably fit 10 people in the home for the time we spent there. Making the choice to bag the typical tournament hotel experience for this spot was the best decision!! Great little town of Hollis, amazingly convenient to get to, with all the amenities. The Owner was as lovely as they get, met us at the spot when we arrived, and made sure we knew where to find everything. Absolutely going back!! Highly recommend it for your experience.

tranquility close to home

  • 5 of 5

this is my family and i second stay at rocky pond.i just love it there.there is adequete room and then some for everyone to sleep and mozy around.the pond is so clear and the temp is quite nice even on a chilly day...there is a nice trail the kids and family dogs enjoy to stroll on speckled with rarely seen wild life like owls and hawks...this is a great place for peace and quiet that feels like you are in the middle of now where.I love the quaint town of hollis.there is a beautiful local library and a cute little grocery store with many farm stands all about... but not far in every direction there outlets and resturaunts and everything you may be looking for.but you would never know it because the cabin is in a lush quite town with big beautiful trees and farms and is just so danty.i love it there..we enjoyed listening to crickets around the fire and had the opportunity to see a meteor shower over the big sky above the pond.i would recommend this place for families even with little ones, friends or even that romantic getaway...we look forward to another year there in 2014

Lovely week at the pond

  • 5 of 5

Our family had another great stay on Rocky Pond - beautiful setting and very relaxing. Our kids loved jumping off the dock for hours on end. No electronics made for good family interaction and truly unplugging. And we never tired of swimming to "the rock." Thanks for a great vacation!
