The Boothbay Opera House, art galleries, the public library, and the town park are close by. The waterfront with all its boating options is just two blocks away. Set sail on a windjammer, take a scenic boat ride out to see puffins on Eastern Egg Rock, or catch the ferry out to Monhegan or Squirrel Island. The Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens is 3.6 miles away. The Department of Marine Resources Aquarium is 2.6.
Wood floors, white walls, local artwork, and a clean uncluttered decorating style create a welcoming and relaxing space. Smart TVs have streaming options like Hulu, Netflix, and Prime. Ceiling fans are located in the living space and the bedrooms. Heat pumps provide central heat and air.
Decorated in the relaxing and tranquil colors of the sea, this spacious one bedroom rental has everything you need for a weekend getaway or an extended stay. Bed linens are from Brooklinen, “Cool and crisp, our Classic Percale Sheets feature a breathable 270 thread count weave for that timeless, hotel-style luxury. Perfect for hot sleepers, these sheets will help you stay cool all night long. Made with 100% long-staple cotton, you’ll feel like you’re snuggling up in luxury every single night.” Cotton blankets and LL Bean comforters are supplied for the colder months. Just right pillows are essential for a good night’s sleep, which is why we use pillows from Casper. Their “pillow in a pillow” construction makes it easy for you to adjust the loft of your pillow. Casper pillows have a down alternative stuffing making them light and airy. A brushed chrome ceiling fan with clear glass globes helps to circulate cool air in the summer and heat in the winter. Table lamps on either side of the bed are provided for evening reading.
Just off the bedroom is a full sized bathroom. The vanity has a large mirror with sconces on either side for shaving and applying makeup. The shower has a glass door and fiberglass shower unit. Staying at the Captain's Quarter gave us yet another "Happy Place," while vacationing in Booth Bay. Location, location, location; with comfort and cleanliness, too! Hope to return for even a longer stay. Kathy and Mike S
The hose was central located, one block away from all BoothBay Harbor has to offer. We were able to walk everywhere. The house was spotless, well appointed and perfect for the two of us.
Great rental in the perfect location for walking to everything! Super clean and stocked with everything you need and more! Great communication with the owner.
I loved how close this was to downtown. We walked to dinner and loved grabbing a coffee at Red Cup every morning. The house was clean and loved the added touches by the owner. I would stay here again.
The apartment has everything you could possibly need for your trip. If you do need something, the host is very happy to assist. Short walk to the heart of town so you don't have to deal with parking. Would definitely recommend staying here.
Great location. Very comfortable. Nothing fancy but everything that you need. Owners were super nice. Good value for the money. Definitely would stay here again.
Loved our long weekend at the Captain’s Quarters! The location is perfect for dining, shopping and walking in Boothbay Harbor without any hassle of parking in town. The rental was just as described, was beautifully clean and well stocked. Great communication with our hosts. We had come to kayak for the weekend and spots to drive to launch were easy to find. We will definitely be back.
Deanne and Dave are wonderful hosts. You are staying right in town. Restaurants, shops, art galleries and the harbor are all right outside your front door. The rental is spotless and equipped with all the amenities you will need. You have your own parking spot which is a necessity in this quaint little town. We already plan to return in the near future.
Points of interest: the Puffin/Whale Watch is a must. Pemaquid Point Lighthouse and the Coastal Botanical Gardens were such a treat. Dave mentioned Barrett Park, but we never made it over there.
FYI: Ports of Italy is outstanding!
Thank you to Deanne and Dave for maintaining such a wonderful place to relax and enjoy Boothbay Harbor!
Had a great time, location good even for a person needing a cane for walking. Furniture in LR only OK for sitting, the futon is extremely uncomfortable for a place to sit. Difficulty in finding place, I'd be more apt to say, look for 'parking area' or at least mentioning that, we thought that was for 'pay to park' not where we'd find entrance into VRBO--likewise the person upstairs felt the same he knocked on front door to find where to go... I'd provide a 'warm blanket' in case nights get chilly as did for us, thank heavens i had a car blanket or we'd have been very chilly. ALL was good, and would recommend. Thanks for the stay.

Thank you for your tips. I wish you had let us know while you were here. There are plenty of extra blankets, two are in a basket right in the living room. The guests before you let us know there was an issue with the futon, but until then we did not know that. There is now a new leather couch in the living room. I’m not sure why there would be any issue with the other furniture one is a fairly new recliner, fully automated which many people have complimented. I believe our welcoming instructions ask you to park in the rear of the building beside the sign with the name of the rental. Sorry if there was any confusion.
Bright and airy, clean, well equipped, and comfortable. Great “home” away from home. Park your car and walk into town for dining, shopping and lovely views of the water.
Our stay at this home was wonderful! We had everything we needed and itwas very comfortable. You cannot ask for a better location! If you get a chance go hiking on Monhegan Island and for a high-end dinner go to The Thistle Inn where we celebrated a birthday.
This spacious little cottage was filled with everything you would need to insure a wonderful stay. There is attention to detail and comfort in every area. The location is perfect and parking is never a problem. We look forward to another visit with them in the future.
Nice property with lots of space for 2. Everything needed was provided and very thoughtfully decorated and detailed. Located in the middle of the town so easy walking to all amenities and restaurants. Would definitely visit again!
We loved this roomy apartment located just a block from the harbor. Deanne and Dave were great hosts. When we arrived we very quickly realized that there was a major problem with the refrigerator, as it was making very loud and annoying noises, which was later diagnosed as a failed bearing in the compressor. Our hosts handled the problem as efficiently as possible, and managed to replace the refrigerator the very next day, which was much appreciated.
My husband and I thankfully were able to book this property a week and a half before we were to travel, and we were glad that we did!
The Captain’s Quarters one-bedroom apartment is quite clean, has wood floors (no carpeting), and does include the main necessities for cooking in the kitchen. We appreciated the lovely bathroom, the use of the washer and dryer, and king-sized pillows on the comfortable queen bed.
The location is wonderful, creating an easy walk to the downtown shops and restaurants. The inclusion of parking with this booking was very useful as well, especially since we left on day trips to explore Freeport and the Pemaquid Point Light House!
The owners do live on site, are very friendly, and take great care in maintaining their property! We hope to return to Boothbay Harbor in the future!
This cute in-town apartment more than met my expectations. Everything was super clean and fresh. The space was large and well stocked with everything we needed for our stay. Easy walk to pick up morning coffee and croissants that we ate dockside. A number of restaurants and shops also within walking distance. Owners were very responsive to questions. Would definitely stay again.
Clean and well stocked apartment including washer and dryer, essential for a 10 day stay as ours. Easy walk to shops and restaurants and close enough for short trips to nearby places. everyone was so helpful and friendly. This is definitely the place to be.
An excellent stay in an excellent home away from home!
This home had everything we needed: great location, really nice and comfy decorating, well stocked kitchen, one parking space, a little yard for sitting and relaxing and so close to lots of fun things to do in Boothbay Harbor! We will be back!
Very convenient location for exploring the Boothbay region. Apartment was spotlessly clean, nicely decorated, and very comfortable with everything we needed for our stay. David and Deanna were great, responded quickly to questions.
Deanne and Dave are fabulous hosts! Their cottage is ‘clean as a whistle’, well appointed, equipped with everything one would need, and amazingly quiet! Excellent location!
This apartment is spotless, adorable and well equipped with everything you would ever need for your stay. The owners have thought of every detail. The location is perfect, right in town within easy walking distance to shops and the harbor. Loved it! Can't wait to go back!!
Couldn’t think there would be a better place to stay in BBH. Comfortable, everything you need, right in town so dinner can be out or we stopped by Eventide one night for amazing pasta fixings at the house. Went all over coastal Maine with this as a fabulous place to come home to every night. Will recommend it to everyone! Thanks!

About the host
Hosted by Deanne Tibbetts
The Tibbetts family has lived in the Boothbay Region since the 1700s. Generation after generation have worked as fishermen and boatbuilders.
Why they chose this property
Boothbay Harbor is a great place to raise a family. During the busy summer season we have all the benefits of larger cities with festivals, art shows, and concerts. In the off season we return to a tightly knit community of families who attend weekend sporting events, church services, and participate in local fundraising events.
What makes this property unique
“Mackerel scales and mare’s tails ships fly high sails” is an old fisherman’s saying that refers to the weather and fishing conditions. Generations of fishermen have called Boothbay Harbor home and that heritage is what makes this town unique. When you book a vacation rental with Mackerel Sky Rentals, you are not only getting a great place to stay but you are supporting a local fishing family and helping to continue a way of life that is becoming more and more difficult to sustain.
Boothbay Harbor is a popular destination in the summer months but consider a visit during the quieter fall, winter, and spring seasons to experience what life is really like in a small coastal town. Go to the Thistle on Friday night for their standing room only happy hour. Have dinner at the Bistro and enjoy some of the best fried haddock anywhere. Watch trick-or-treaters parade down Townsend Ave at Halloween. Wear your pajamas to the early bird sale always held on the Saturday before Thanksgiving. Kick off the holiday season with the Harbor Lights celebration the first weekend in December. In the coldest winter months you can peruse the latest best sellers at Sherman's, catch a movie at the Harbor Theater, or take a winter walk along our quiet coastal roads. Spring brings local road races and lady slippers at the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens. Come and enjoy the quieter side of the Boothbay Harbor Region!
