It was a nice and thoughtfully appointed cabin. Great place to stay if you’re looking for some quiet. The mattresses on the beds were a bit stiff and the Wi-Fi was spotty. Not the best spot for direct river access in my opinion, but we used it as a homebase to go to the state park during the day and it was great for that

Great Getaway

My kids and I enjoyed our annual end of school getaway here! The cabin accommodates a big family group and has a great location. Five minutes walk down to the private Frio river access. 10 minutes to Garner. The landlady is easily accessible. The only downside was no WiFi due to provider issues. I would definitely recommend bringing your own hotspot for WiFi/cell service!

My family and I had such a great experience. We spent time with eachother and had time to connect. We have a very busy lifestyle.🥴 Sitting out underneath the stars with the fire pit going was beautiful and relaxing. The Frio river was just a short walk away with such beautiful scenery (perfect for pictures) not mention, We got to speak to a couple of the locals at “The Barn”, good people, very down to earth and welcoming. I can’t forget the owners……such lovely people. Although communication was via phone/messaging, they made our stay even better! We thank you both for allowing us into your gorgeous home. It was home away from home for us. The cabin had everything you needed. There is nothing negative to say. Next trip We take will be a longer stay. ❤️❤️❤️

Great location

Our stay was nice and felt very private. Took nice long walks with the dogs, saw some whitetail. Had access to the Frio, but the weather was too frio to enjoy that this trip. We were about 10-15 minutes from the House Pasture which was perfect as besides reaching, the other purpose for our trip was to enjoy The Frio Music Fest. So much fun and the late night drive back wasn’t bad (aka, long, scary and curvy, haha). Also within 10 minutes- Neal’s, an ice-cream shop, a couple general stores, food trucks, and a neat little brick oven pizza (and sandwiches) place (Hippie Chics). The hosts were very helpful and answered any questions quickly. We have Verizon and had service near one window, so if you need service I’d follow the advice on the listing. We were fine being a bit off the grid for a little while. Also accurate with the listing- bring everything they say- there’s only the basics provided. Which was also just fine because we went prepared. One thing we didn’t think about was for drinks, so either being a bag designated for that purpose of being a few ice trays. In summary- we loved our stay. We were talking about coming back before we even left! Highly recommend.

オーナーのプロフィール画像
We are Ken and Kay, the owners, and operators of Frio Acres.
Growing up, Kay spent her summers swimming and floating on the Frio River with her parents and brothers making wonderful memories. Her family had a small cabin on the Frio near the bridge on CR 1120. While Kay was in college, she brought her soon-to-be husband to Leakey and introduced him to the Frio. As you would expect, Ken fell in love with the Frio River and the entire Frio Canyon area as Kay had at a much younger age. After being away from the area for over 30 years, they had the opportunity to return in 2021 for a visit and they fell in love with the area all over again.
In May 2022, an opportunity to buy Frio Acres, a rental property with 5 modest cabins on 5 acres of land, presented itself. Without hesitation they decided to buy it. In 3 days, they sold their house in the Dallas area where they had lived for the previous 23 years, raising their two sons. Ken & Kay bought a 28’ travel trailer, loaded it up with some of life’s bare essentials that would be needed to live in a trailer for a while, and headed to Concan, TX on their new adventure. They arrived on May 28th, took over operating Frio Acres on June 1st. They officially bought Frio Acres on July 31st. It was and continues to be one of the best decisions they have made during their 32 years together. We love it here and want to share that with you! Come visit, relax, and unwind on the river at Frio Acres!
