You won't be disappointed in Sandy Bottoms!

Snowbirds! Plan your Winter getaway to the beautiful coast of Alabama! Your vacation spot in the sun awaits you! Sandy Bottoms is available for monthly rental in February 2017, with the option of adding the first week in March at a discounted rate! (Stay from February 6 to March 6 for a total of $2200! The first week in March rents for $2250, so this is a great deal!)

We don't add on any fees for departure cleaning or lodging tax! What you see is what you get! (If you use the optional online booking feature offered by VRBO or HomeAway, there is an additional fee charged by HomeAway for online booking).

Sandy Bottoms is a warm, comfortable, cozy beach front home with character plus! View of dunes, sugar white sand, sunrise, sunset, and the blue-green waters of the Gulf of Mexico! You will feel right at home the minute you walk in the door!

Sandy Bottoms is located on the Fort Morgan Peninsula, about 15.5 miles from the intersection of Fort Morgan Road (Highway 180 West) and Highway 59 in Gulf Shores. You can be there in about 15 to 20 minutes!

If it is peaceful relaxation and seclusion that you desire, the Fort Morgan Peninsula is the place to be! Fort Morgan is surrounded by water, with the Mobile Bay on one side and the Gulf of Mexico on the other - the most beautiful natural beaches in the area. Steeped in history, it is a place where nature abounds. The coastal dunes between the house and the Gulf are habitat for the Alabama beach mouse and nesting sea turtles! You won't see high rise, high density condo buildings; rather, you will feel like you have come to a place that is lost in time. It attracts like a magnet! Once you have visited, you will want to come back again and again!

The house is light and bright with an open floor plan in the main living area, making it a great space for family and friends to gather. Right off the living and dining area you will find a desk where you can use your laptop and take advantage of the wireless Internet. The living room, dining area and master bedroom both have access to the large deck and view of the beautiful Gulf of Mexico.

The living room has plenty of seating with a large sectional sofa with chaise, and an additional comfy chair with ottoman. Enjoy watching TV or movies with our surround sound home entertainment system with Blu-Ray, and satellite with premium channels such as HBO, Showtime and Cinemax. Connect your favorite Bluetooth enabled device wirelessly to listen to your favorite tunes.

For dining, we offer a large dining table with six chairs, plus two barstools at the kitchen counter. The living room, dining room and kitchen flooring is ceramic tile, so you don't have to worry about carpet stains.

Our kitchen always gets rave reviews from our guests! There are plenty of excellent restaurants in the area; however, if you enjoy preparing your own meals, you won't find anything lacking in our kitchen. If you do, let us know, and we will see if we can add whatever you need!

The master bedroom has a comfortable queen size iron bed, large armoire, TV with satellite and DVD, and walk in closet. The master bath has been updated with a large tiled shower, custom travertine vanity with two sinks, tiled floor and walls, and built-in shelving and storage. The second and third bedroom are separate from the master. One bedroom has two twin beds, and the other has a queen bed and desk. Both rooms have chests and closets for storage. The second bath is located just off the hallway, and has been recently updated with a pedestal sink and porcelain tub with shower.

Step out of the living room or master bedroom to a spacious 360 square feet deck, which provides an additional living area and dining area. Enjoy an awesome view of the dunes, sugar white sand dunes, and blue-green waters of the Gulf of Mexico! The deck is built with composite deck materials, which means no splinters and no hot wood on your feet! This comfortable outdoor living area includes a dining table with six chairs, two person glider, two loungers, and two side tables. This is a great spot to view the awe-inspiring sunrise and sunset, catch some rays, watch the dolphins frolic, or just relax and enjoy the beverage of your choice. You may even be lucky enough to get a free show from the Blue Angels flight demonstration squadron, as they sometimes practice up and down our beach! Want to get out of the sun, but still enjoy outdoor living and dining? There is an additional covered outdoor living and dining area below the house, which includes a wooden picnic table for six people, as well as a porch swing and two Adirondack chairs for additional seating. You will love the enclosed shower downstairs which has hot and cold water, vanity with sink, lighting and electrical outlet (3rd bathroom). You must experience a hot shower where you can feel the ocean breeze and hear the crashing waves!

Step from the Gulf view deck to a boardwalk that leads to a covered shared gazebo with built-in seating. From the gazebo step right onto the sugar white sands of the Gulf of Mexico via our beach access lot. From there it is about 75 feet to the dunes, then over the dunes to the beach! Our uncrowded and unspoiled beach is natural and one of the widest sections of beach on the entire peninsula. Our beach is not groomed, and you can happily hunt for driftwood, shells, sea glass, and other treasures. You might spot dolphins swimming and frolicking in the surf, brown pelicans flying in formation, or blue herons and sea gulls right on the beach in front of the house. Relax, unwind, listen to the surf, soak up the sun, frolic in the waves, enjoy some shore fishing, watch nature, enjoy awe-inspiring sunrises and sunsets, and star gaze at night. You won't be bored, but if you do want more entertainment, there is plenty to do and see in nearby Foley, Gulf Shores, or Orange Beach, just minutes away.

About Vickie Boozer, Owner and Manager

Sandy Bottoms is very special to us! Our little getaway, home away from home! It is not just a rental property to us, but a home! We enjoy sharing it with our guests, and want them to think of it as their own home away from home. We visit for several weeks at a time, several times a year. We love everything the area has to offer!

Vickie Boozer, Owner and Manager purchased this house in 2001

Why Vickie Boozer, Owner and Manager chose Alabama

We have visited many wonderful beaches in our 30 years of knowing each other. But none of them attracted us or felt more like the best home for us than Fort Morgan. We are casual and relaxed, and are more attracted to a laid back feel. That is why we chose Fort Morgan. We love the fact that you can see the beach from the road, and there are no high rise, high density condo buildings. Our area contains mostly modest, privately owned beach homes without the glitz and glamour of other beach resort areas. We enjoy the quiet and peaceful relaxation we feel when we are at the house. We absolutely love hearing the surf from the Gulf and the views are amazing! You can even see dolphins and sea birds right from our beach-front deck! We couldn't be happier owning a little slice of paradise!

What makes this house unique

We strive to provide extra amenities not usually found in rental homes. Many of our guests have said our beach house is even better stocked than their own homes! We are attentive owners, and make frequent visits to our home to make sure it is clean, updated and fresh.

Guestbook comments from the owner

This is our 5th time to Gulf Shores and it was an awesome time. Weather was the best and we loved Sandy Bottoms. As a family of 5 this was the best single family home we have rented. Our favorites while here: dolphins every day, non crowded beaches, great amenities and together time. We love DeSoto's and Sea N Suds for food. The 3 boys loved your beach and so did the parents!

Another great beach vacation

  • 5 of 5

Sandy Bottoms has become our favorite beach vacation spot. The house is so comfortable and well kept. We had 4 adults and kids this trip and everyone had their own space. The kitchen is my favorite part of the house there is every utensil or bowl or dish that you might need for anything you want to prepare. Besides beach time we spent a lot of time on the back deck or the sitting area down below the house - there is plenty of seating for everyone to hang out and have a great time making lots of memories. The beach at Ft Morgan is very nice and uncrowded. We've been there in the summer vacation season and now the fall and the beach is not crowded during either season. Vickie is always very helpful with any info we've needed either in planning our trip or with questions once we're there. We will definitely be returning to Sandy Bottoms for our future beach trips!!

Owner's Response: I am so glad your 2nd visit to Sandy Bottoms was as good as the first! We are especially appreciative of all of our repeat guests! The list continues to grow with every year. I'm glad to know you had everything you needed in the kitchen to prepare your meals. All of our guests really enjoy the two outdoor living areas we provide. We have had a lot of really nice comments about the downstairs covered living area for times when you want to be outside, but need a little protection from the sun. We'll have to see what we can do to make this area even better. Perhaps a hammock? Thanks for being our guest, and hope to have you back again soon!

First time house renter

  • 5 of 5

My 9yr old and I had a girls weekend at Sandy Bottom. It was our first beach house rental and we loved our experience. My husband works for the airlines so we have been avid travelers for nearly 20 years. Having stayed mostly in hotels & B&B's - I can't believe this was our first beach house rental. We were lucky to have this particular owner, Vicky, guide us all the way. She is very well thought out. She goes above and beyond by providing tons of suggestions and recommendations, as needed. That in addition to the great accommodations.

As a former boutique hotel owner I probably notice more than the average over nighter. Flip side, I know renters can be hard on items that don't belong to them so keeping up with that is a challenge with every guest's stay. Which can be more frequent with accommodations as they age. These owners really are keeping up with and mostly ahead of issues, kudos! The only notable item worth mentioning was the sliding screen door (I would have liked to have kept the back door open and bugs out so I could hear the waves of the ocean) that was 50% torn away from the frame. We probably only noticed because we were relegated to the indoors most of the 5 days due to a hurricane/storm. The items beyond their control was the banging renovations next door while replacing back decking - luckily only on our last day. And the offshore oil/gas drilling rigs located on the horizon of the gulf shore. During the day they are not too noticeable but at night the obstructed view with scattered lights on the horizon I had not anticipated. I counted 16 rigs from the shore. "To imagine how big these rigs appear..., stretch your arm out in front of you and pretend you're pinching something that is between 1/4" and 1/2" tall. That's about how big they'll appear to you when you get here." An aside I'd recommend wearing closed toe shoes or don't pause too long barefoot near the dune grasses - At night I got a few fire ants or no-see-um bites and had an allergic reaction.

Back to the incredible positive points! They outweigh the above - lovely quality toiletries, every possible kitchen amenity, comfortable cheerful decor, proximity to gulf, water view, location & quality of restaurant and grocery Sassy Bass, clean and tidy interior, great floorplan, well-kept exterior... I'm certain I could go on and on! Did I mention Vicky emailed me detailed info on tropical storm just before we arrived?

Owner's Response: Thank you for your detailed review, and also the compliments! Yes, we strive to keep Sandy Bottoms in excellent condition, so thank you for noticing! If I had known about the screen door, I would have had our maintenance crew on it immediately. No other guest had previously reported it, so it must have been accidental "walk through the screen" by our previous guest. We will take care of this ourselves when we visit the property this week. I am so glad that the tropical storm was well east of our area, and that it didn't interrupt your flights or travel plans! I hope you will return to Sandy Bottoms again in the near future! Thank you for being our guest!

Words really cannot describe how wonderful this vacation was… So very needed. And Sandy bottoms was the absolute best place we could've possibly gone. I picked it on a whim, and Vicki was so helpful and responsive. She immediately called me after I put my inquiry and about the dates we wanted, and let me know all about the area and what we could expect… But her words could not tell how awesome it is. The house is beautiful, and equipped with everything you could possibly need. The beach is beautiful, the dunes are breathtaking, and getting to see all the wildlife was such a bonus. Walking distance from the house is a market and an incredible restaurant called the Sassy Bass, highly recommend.

We have six kids, so vacations are difficult and expensive, but this was worth every penny. We will definitely be going back next year, and hopefully several years to come.

Awesome Beach Stay

  • 5 of 5

We had a great stay at Sandy Bottoms! The house is very clean and everything is in new condition. The kitchen was very well stocked, we cooked all but one meal during our stay. The Sassy Bass market was convenient for ice and any needed items, we purchased the bulk of our items at the Wal-mart in town. The location is about 30 minutes from the center of the action in Gulf Shores, which was very nice, giving us the beach almost to ourselves (also the time of year we went was less crowded). We had a private show from the Blue Angels doing practice exercises for about 30 minutes over the ocean, this was awesome. There were tons of crabs on the beach after dark. It's a short hike to the beach from the house (definitely wear your shoes - hot sand and walkway), we were able to leave our chairs on the beach with no one bothering them. The outdoor shower was great for getting the sand off. Vickie was awesome to work with from the first time I emailed all the way up to getting our deposit back. She was in constant communication and let us know everything we needed to know for a great stay. I especially like the keyless entry for easy check-in. The Wi-fi worked good and the satellite tv meant we could always find something to watch. The large table on the deck was great for outdoor dining. We had 6 adults in our party and we were very comfortable, lots of space inside and outside. Would be a good beach house with children as well. We used the outdoor grill for steaks and s'mores. One piece of advice - bring tp the one roll per bathroom goes pretty quick. The other houses are a little close, (if you are looking for secluded) however, there were different parties that came and went during our stay and we didn't really know they were there. I highly recommend Sandy Bottoms for relaxing and to enjoy the beach.

Our week happened along with the bad flooding that occurred in LA. You actually don't watch the news on your vacation so we were aware of our rainy weather but had no clue of the devastation in Baton Rouge or Livingston. We had to improvise. The downstairs area had picnic table, chairs, charcoal grill, power and plenty of room which gave us a chance to still be outside and enjoy ourselves. thankfully, we had also brought our electric smoker and other items for just that space. Our family is spread out and does not see each other as much as we would like. We enjoyed this space and were thankful the cabin fever did not happen.

Owner's Response: So sorry the weather did not work out for you! I hope you give it another try sometime soon, as this rain event was not typical for our area. I am glad you enjoyed the additional living area underneath the house. Our guests really enjoy that area to have a shady place to retreat from the sun, as well as the nice breezes from the north. And as you mentioned in your review, it gives them another place to relax outdoors when it rains. I love to sit down there when it rains and just listen to the raindrops. So relaxing! I hope that you will return to Sandy Bottoms again in the near future!

Another great vacation at Sandy Bottoms!!

  • 5 of 5

We absolutely love Sandy Bottoms and the Fort Morgan area. We have stayed here many times in the past and plan to come back again next year. The location is perfect and the views are amazing. Love being right on the beach, but without the crowds. We love to cook in the fully stocked kitchen for relaxing nights in, but are close enough to town if we want to eat out. Love how helpful and attentive Vickie always is. We are already talking about next year's plans.
