Bonefish Barbis Beach Bungalow Beachhouse is an oceanfront vacation rental located in Eleuthera, Bahamas (Fodor's Travel Guide said that Eleuthera is one of the most beautiful Bahamian islands).
This modern two bedroom/two bath house sits atop a bluff directly on the ocean with a panoramic view of a horizon full of whitecaps generated by nearby offshore reefs. Many of these reefs are within swimming distance in shallow waters. The house is surrounded by flowers, especially an assortment of different colors of bourganvillas. The beach in front of the house is virtually deserted and you can walk for miles either way on beautiful white/pink powder soft sand-- you probably wont see another person.
WE NOW HAVE WI-FI !
See the website of the house below under 'Additional Web Information' for photographs and an accurate picture.
My wife and I spent 2 weeks at Barbi & Scott's property just a few weeks ago. We had the most glorious time at their home and on the beach right in front of the house. The setting is grand, the location perfect and private, and the house was in great shape on our arrival. Yes, their were a few items that needed a little tweaking, but hey, it is on the ocean and we all know how difficult it is to maintain a property such as theirs. The amentities at the house worked to perfection, although I did reset the modem a couple of times by unplugging it and then it worked just fine. After exploring the island it occured to me just how easy it was to find the house after leaving the airport. Many of the other properties I had researched prior to booking would have been difficult to find because of their locations. We enjoyed cooking at the house mostly, but had a few meals out and enjoyed several different venues. The beaches on the island we great and we visited Lighthouse, Club Med, and several others as well. I will also say that the Atlantic side of the island is where to stay, less people, bugs, and terrific views all the time. I have to say the having a beach cabana at the base of the stairs was really a plus, because many of the beaches we visited had no shade, it was great to take a break from the rays from time to time and have a cold beer. We were pleased to have the opportunity to visit the island and more pleased to have booked this home. Thank you Barbi....we had a wonderful time, and you are a kick to work with.

Review #16817847 “Oceanfront Glass House on Private Deserted Pink Sand Beach”
The house is situated on a beautiful beach, which is the stuff of Hollywood movies! The reef is just off the house and is exquisite, to say the least....
The house itself has seen better days, but is quite serviceable...we noticed some worm like things hanging from the ceiling in the green bedroom on our arrival, but thought nothing of it, although they were nearly right above the bed. Later in our stay we found what they were, but more on that later.
We found the people in the town of Governour's Harbour to be very friendly and welcoming. We went to have a drink and appetizer on our first day at Buccaneer in town, and were greeted with sticker shock...two drinks and conch fritters were a total of fifty dollars! We decided that eating in was a good idea!
Even groceries are not what you expect....expensive and elusive, but we made the best of it!
The kitchen... very well equipped as far as appliances are concerned. You may want to take some basics there, as it seems the kitchen is stripped after each guest. We needed dishwashing tablets, dish soap, a sponge, almost all spices except salt and pepper, coffee, and ziplocs just to get started. Oh, and a must...bring toilet paper! I would suggest you bring them from home in your luggage! It would also be a really good thing to bring a cooler with some meat (steaks, chicken, and maybe some burgers). They have a gas grill there that has a faulty ignition switch, but we left a grill lighter, which may or may not still be there....bring matches, as that is the only way to light it! Watch the propane tank, we had to take it in to Palmetto Point to have it filled, as it failed on us mid-steak! They do not do replacements there, you take the old tank in and it's refilled from a propane tank.
There are more beach and bath towels than you will ever need, and there is a washer and dryer, which is super convenient, so don't pack for more than a few days! You will need to bring detergent. The boat that comes in with fresh veggies and supplies comes on Wednesday, so go that day for freshest and best selection! The bakery behind Burrows has some of the most wonderful bread, scones and buns, so go there too!
As for the "worms"...it came from a leak in the roof...it didn't rain until our next to last day there, so we were never able to let Barbie know till then...but it leaked like crazy !
Just wanted to thank Barbi for letting my husband and I enjoy her island of paradise! Pictures can't even explain how beautiful this island is ! The house was awesome !! The new glowing countertop is spectacular !! The house is furnished very well ! When they say beach towels they mean lots of beach towels ! Barbi has everything you need there and more ! We stayed a week and we are coming back real soon! We brought a soft sided cooler full of frozen food and lots of snacks . We shopped at the grocery stores for milk , eggs , bread , soda , lettuce. We seen one couple walking on our beach the whole week we were there but we had the beach to ourselves the entire time ! We bought the beach book of Eleuthera and explored some of the beaches lighthouse beach is a must see ! And when they say don't take a car don't !!! It is a long 3 miles that you will ever drive , go slow take your time because when you get there it is soooo worth it ! Breathtaking ! we had that beach to ourselves as well !! We also went to harbour island for the day it is beautiful there also ! But we really enjoyed the nice decks at Barbis and just laying on our own beach ! Barbi was very quick and super helpful to make reservations with ! My husband and I have been telling everyone about this place and we enjoyed it so much we will be coming back and staying at Barbis ! I don't think you have to worry about forgetting something cause Barbi has thought about it all ! We had no problems at all with tv, satellite , Internet , ac, water, everything worked great ! We had a few days of rain on and off but when your at the beach who cares if it's raining! We rented a car from big daddy's and the car was great the service was great ! The people on this island were very nice and friendly ! We did venture over to the Caribbean side one day and the water was very calm very pretty but without the breeze bug bites ! We never had any bug problems at Barbis at all ! And we even brought bug spray but never used it ! We didn't go to eat anywhere that will be the next trip ! We did drive and explore lots of places and will try them when we come back without as much food ! We brought so much good with us we even left some unopened stuff in the refrigerator because we had to much food ! I highly recommend this island of paradise ! Thank you so much Barbi for sharing your piece of paradise with us we really enjoyed it and we will be back !!
My husband and I stayed 4 nights at this house and then moved to another property for our last 3 nights in Eleuthera. We should have stayed put! The beach is gorgeous, Barbi answered every single question almost immediately and thoroughly, beds are comfortable, etc etc etc. The snorkeling was great right in front of the house, but you need to catch it at low tide and on a calm day. We had no problem with TV or internet while we were there. She supplies snorkeling gear, ice chests, beach chairs and bags so you can explore from one end of the island to the other without having to pack very much. The only suggestion I would make is to build a private outdoor shower complete with hot water. Then I might come back and never leave!
We couldn't have been more pleased with our experience. The house is very spacious and could accommodate two small families or couples very nicely. The outdoor shower was a huge hit. The bedrooms are on opposite ends of the house giving privacy if needed. The view from the deck area is amazing, we spent many hours just relaxing on the patio. All the appliances and items in the house worked well. We brought our two children (2,8) and they had a great time exploring and looking for Crabs and Geckos. The snorkeling was perfect for beginners or children with many easy entry points. The sea life was great and we saw a wide variety of beautiful fish right in front of the property. Our 8 year old is still talking about the things he saw while snorkling. We did explore many other beaches and like previous renters have stated the beach out front is great and you will come to the realization that you have one of the best at your door step. It was fun exploring the other beaches and highly recommend Light House Beach. Leave early in the day, it takes some time to get down to the beach. We did go fishing with Captain Z on his charter and really enjoyed his character and the great experience he gave us. There is obviously a cost to the fishing charter, but we did have fish dinner for 4 nights with the catch. We didn't eat out much since we had young children, but did see many appealing options while driving the island. Many establishments don't take credit cards, so make sure you have ample cash upon arrival. Overall we loved the island. If you are looking for a less crowded, less commercialized piece of paradise this is the place for you. Internet service worked about 60% of the time on and off, but we only used it for occasional email correspondence. Barbi was very informative and prompt on any correspondence we had, she was a pleasure to work with. Byron the caretaker rents very reliable vehicles and we have no complaints. You need a vehicle. I had to reach out to him twice and he answered on the first ring, very good service. Great experience, thanks for letting us enjoy your home.
This was a lovely house with a wall of patio doors providing a stunning view. The listing description is accurate and the photos simply don't do justice to the beauty of the overall location - the wrap-around porch and panoramic view was breathtaking. The property was clean and well-maintained. All appliances were quite new and worked well. The road is paved all the way to the house. The outdoor shower was also a very nice touch.
We travelled with our two children - 6 and a half and 9 - and found the place to be suitable for children, with plenty of spots to safely introduce them to the ocean. The beach out front had everything: swimming, nice pink sand, waves (sometimes), fantastic snorkeling, lots of wildlife - the kids loved it.
The property is very conveniently located and we were able to visit both the north and south of the island with ease. There were dozens of beaches on both the Atlantic and Caribbean and restaurants within 20min. drive. Our kid-friendly favorites were Airport Beach (by the house), Alabaster Beach, Twin Sisters Beach, Gaulding Cay. Nearby towns include Governor's Harbour, James Cistern, Alicetown, Rainbow Bay, Gregorytown - all were very friendly and safe.
We would gladly recommend Bonefish Barbi's to anyone except people with serious mobility issues - there is a set of 30 or so steps down to the beach immediately off the back of the house - and it exceeded our expectations. The owner was extremely helpful and responsive, and the welcome package was jammed full of useful and detailed information that we used extensively during our stay.
Beautiful deserted beaches - you can walk for miles either north or south and probably never see soul.. Powder soft white/pink sand - snorkeling is amazing right in front of my house. Very quiet and relaxing. Privacy everywhere- no houses near our house - probably 5 acres on each side of vegetation.

1800.00 per week for 2. PLEASE NOTE- VRBO/HOMEAWAY- has recently added a service charge on top of the fee that i also have to charge for using their online booking service-- Be aware that this is the most expensive option to rent my house-not trying to discourage anyone but i cant even quote what the fee is on top of what i quote on my site for online booking.. Paying by check is the cheapest option.
