Ons huis is pas gerenoveerd met alle moderne gemakken en klaar voor u om van te genieten.

De keuken is uitgerust met alle benodigdheden, alle nieuwe apparaten, waaronder een vaatwasser en een magnetron. Foodservice is via een prachtige two-tier granieten aanrechtblad met ontlasting zitplaatsen, opening op de woonkamer. Het gespreksgedeelte beschikt over een comfortabele bank en stoel met tropisch thema. Airconditioning en plafondventilatoren zorgen voor extra comfort.

De grote slaapkamer is voorzien van een luxe kingsize bed. Het hoofdeinde van het bed is uniek omdat het een deel is van een Guanacaste-boom. De 2e en 3e slaapkamers hebben zachte nieuwe dubbele matrassen op handgemaakte hardhouten kozijnen. De 2e slaapkamer heeft twee tweepersoonsbedden en deelt een eigen badkamer en wasruimte. De derde slaapkamer heeft een tweepersoonsbed en een eenpersoonsbed. Alle slaapkamers hebben voldoende kastruimte. Beide badkamers zijn volledig gerenoveerd met fijn tegelwerk en beschikken over ambachtelijke handgeschilderde wasbakken.

Kortom, Casa Esmeralda biedt alle comfort om ons thuis als thuis te laten voelen.

Stel je voor je ideale vakantie ... misschien is het terug naar de natuur: wandelen in een ongerepte regenwoud, het zien van een levende vulkaan, of het kijken naar walvissen en dolfijnen. Misschien hou je van watersporten: wildwaterraften, zeilen, vissen, surfen, snorkelen of duiken. Of leuk op het land: ziplining, fietsen, wandelen. Of gewoon chillen op een eindeloos stuk ongerept strand, gewiegd door het kabbelen van de golven aan de kust, in afwachting van nog een spectaculaire zonsondergang.

Ons huis is in Surfside en ligt op korte loopafstand van het mooie strand van Potrero. Er is een gemakkelijke toegang tot de lokale supermarkten, winkels, restaurants en bars, waarvan er vele op een paar minuten lopen liggen.

Surfside ligt net ten noorden van Flamingo. Het is een echte gemeenschap, geen vakantieoord. Sommige bewoners zijn permanent, sommigen komen voor de winter en sommigen slechts voor een paar weken. De mensen zijn een mix van Canadezen, Amerikanen, Europeanen en Costa Ricanen van alle leeftijden, van baby's tot gepensioneerden. Het is het soort plek waar bezoekers zich meteen thuis voelen.

House was okay

The house was clean and had everything we need, and for the price was reasonable. The neighborhood seems to have a lot of break-ins, so keeping everything locked all the time was a little off-putting. This is not the fault of the property owner. The care-taker was wonderful, and it's a short walk to the beach.

Charming and conveniently located.

I stayed a week at Casa Esmeralda and had an amazing time. It was in a very convenient location, and within walking distance to Playa Portrero. There were many other nearby beaches as well such as Playa Danta, Playa Flamingo, and my favorite, Playa Conchal. The home featured air conditioners and ceiling fans in every room, which made the hot weather much more comfortable. There is a large BBQ grill and a nice outdoor private dining space. The kitchen had all of the amenities which we used to cook some of our meals at the house. On the nights we ate out, there were so many options within walking distance. La Forketta, a nearby Italian restaurant was one of our favorites. La Perla, a bar and grill down the road had delicious food and daily drink deals. In the nearby town Brasilito, there was a delicious soda "Soda Brasilito", and a good fish and seafood restaurant on the corner. The area was beautiful and the neighbors were very friendly. We did notice there weren't any televisions, but it wasn't that big of a deal for my husband and I, as we didn't come to Costa Rica to watch tv :) the owner Gary was very responsive and easy to work with. His assistant Lis, was very gracious and welcoming. Thank you for making our stay so special. Pura Vida!

As you say, you (and most people) do not come to Costa Rica to watch TV; however, it is available on request. Again, thanks for your kind words. Nous sommes une famille de 7 personnes de 13 à 49 ans. Nous avons séjourné 3 nuits et avons de façon générale apprécié notre séjour. La propriété était propre et bien meublée et équipée et les lits étaient confortables. Il y a cependant quelques points que je tiens à souligner qui ont créé ombrage à notre séjour: 1) il y a des caméras à l'intérieur de la propriété dont une dans la chambre principale qui pointe vers la porte arrière mais qui donne une vue sur la sortie de la salle de bain (d'où on peut sortir nu pour s'habiller dans la chambre)... nous n'avons pas aimé le sentiment de se sentir espionné, 2) la communication pour le check-in a été difficile, le propriétaire ne m'a envoyé aucune indication à l'avance, je lui ai écrit la veille de notre arrivée et j'ai finalement eu une réponse 1h avant notre arrivée me disant de communiquer avec une agente qui gère la propriété et qui a été difficile à rejoindre (nous avons attendu 30 min avant son arrivée), 3) il n'y avait pas de savon pour le lave-vaisselle, 4) Toute la vaisselle était sale (comme un film de poussière accumulé... nous en avons déduit que nous étions les premiers occupants depuis plusieurs mois) et nous avons dû laver à la main avant utilisation, 5) Il y avait quelques insectes dans les chaudrons et dans la salle de bain à côté de la cuisine à notre arrivée, 6) La seule télévision disponible était très petite (27 pouces).

Perfect Portrero Retreat

We had a great time at Casa Esmeralda. Everything is as advertised and the house itself is much nicer than the photos suggest. The local administrator immediately addressed all of our requests promptly. We wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again on our next trip to Guanacaste.

Comfortable, spacious, beautiful home 20 minutes from Danta Beach!

Casa Esmeralda was the perfect place for our family Christmas getaway! Danta beach is a short drive away and there's lots of supermarkets, restaurants and soditas less than 5 minutes away. The automatic A/C units throughout the different rooms allowed each of us to control the room temperature to our liking. The kitchen, although small, was very lovely. There's a beautiful starfruit tree right outside the kitchen that I enjoyed very much (yum!). The location was a little hard to find, but I'm not great with directions and it was getting dark. Gary was incredible during the booking process and Captain was awesome when we arrived. The only reason I'm not giving it a 5-star rating is because due to a burglary, all the TV's and sound system were missing. My fiancée and I had planned to let the family know of our recent engagement with a photo-slide and music, but the situation really killed it for us. The burglary is by no means the owners fault, but the lack of communication was. We didn't find out about the burglary till we arrived and asked about the TV's. Also, we were looking forward to family movie nights and dancing to Christmas music, so that was disappointing. Overall, other than the missing TV's, I'm happy with my stay and very much looking forward to going back in the near future!

Hi Melissa: I certainly apologize for the disappointment about the stolen TV. It has been replaced awhile ago, and we have had no more intrusions since the installation of the alarm system. I should point out that there are several beaches nearer to the house than Danta., the nearest being lovely Potrero Beach, a 5-minute walk away. I very much enjoyed having your family as our guests, and I hope you can make a return visit very soon.
