While you’re having your morning coffee, you can take in the breathtaking views of the surrounding Doe Mountain. 
Spend your days hiking, fishing, or exploring the nearby towns and attractions, and then come back to this cozy cabin to unwind with an evening campfire under the stars.

We were house hunting for the weekend in the area and this pretty little cabin was a perfect stay. Anne and Jack were friendly hosts who were welcoming and helpful with our search. The place is perfectly appointed and so clean. We will be back again!

Great place for a quick Blue Ridge mountain "fix". Property was quiet, felt private and had a nice view from the porch. A bonus for us was a visit from 2 black bears one evening at dusk. We enjoyed observing them forage near the woods (from the inside).

Charming Cabin in Spectacular Mountain Location

I just completed a four night stay with a friend at "Little Bear" and loved every minute of it! The cabin is in a secluded and absolutely beautiful mountain location. The cabin is immaculately clean, very comfortable and cozy. it was fully stocked with everything I needed for my stay. Will definitely stay here again if the opportunity arises.

Very nice little cabin, quiet tucked in the woods plenty of space to walk the dog. We made s’mores at the fire pit, and it was fun to relax in their hammock. There’s no stove, but they do have a griddle that you can cook on microwave, toaster oven, coffee, pot, and all the cooking utensils you could use to cook breakfast. Mountian city is only 10 to 15 minutes away where we found a Food Lion and grabbed all our grocery needs.

Clean and private getaway for family

We had a wonderful stay at Little Bear with our children. It is ideally located to enjoy several different activities throughout your stay. The cabin is an easy hour drive to Damascus, VA to ride the Creeper Trail. We also took out two polaris on Doe Mountain, the highlight of our kids' trip! Also nearby is the Watuga Lake Winery with beautiful views and live music overlooking the mountain sunset. After every day, we really enjoyed sitting around the firepit and cooking smores. Overall, the cabin was well stocked and very clean. We would recommend this for a couple or small family!

Jack and I, as stewards of the sacred land known as "Great Bear", graciously offer this charming cabin in the Blue Ridge Mountains so people can escape the hustle and bustle of life. The serene environment along with the mountain air will leave you feeling refreshed and rejuvenated. We fell in love with the area and this 20 acre property know as Great Bear. We feel confident in saying this land has mystical qualities and is overflowing with good vibes. We take this "stewardship" seriously, we are hands on to make sure you have a fabulous stay with us.

We purchased this property from the original owners, who poured their heart and soul into carving out this special place. We strive to continue the legacy... hoping our guests feel the love and passion that we have for this land. We hope to give people a place to unwind and rest. We find our time spent at Great Bear is restorative to our souls.
