Overview

About the property

Cabin, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 6)

With spectacular views of three mountain ranges in the Shields River Valley, the cabin is a perfect place to get away from it all. Perfect for a writer's retreat, family getaway, or use as a home base to explore Montana. It's about a 20 mile drive to local skiing at Bridger Bowl, and only two miles to the small town of Clyde Park which has a country market, 2 bars, post office, hardware store, and gas station. Close to excellent fishing in the Shields or Yellowstone Rivers, and about an hour drive to Yellowstone National Park. The larger town of Livingston which has many art galleries, entertainment, fine dining, and everything else you might need is 18 miles away. We are also about an hour drive to the closest airport and 2 hours to Billings.

Conveniently located off Hwy 89 on the route between Yellowstone and Glacier Parks, the cabin is in the heart of ranch country on a gravel road, perfect for those morning walks. At night you might hear owls hooting, elk bugling and coyotes yapping, while you look up at the star filled sky!

The cabin is quaintly decorated with country charm throughout. One bedroom has a queen bed and the other bedroom has a full size bed. Both have new memory foam mattresses in 2016, very comfortable. In the living area there is a single hideabed couch. We can also accommodate with a Graco Pack and Play for baby. We can provide 2 mountain bikes for riding the local roads if you are interested, just let us know!

There are only 2 neighbors nearby, which is ourselves and one other house.

Why Linda Hausler & Ric Steinke chose Livingston

We love living in the Shields Valley and when we purchased our home it came with a cabin. We are happy to help folks enjoy Montana and give them an option other than a motel.

What makes this cabin unique

If you want to view some Wide Open Spaces, this is the place! Easy access off of Hwy 89 N. Country living.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We have really enjoyed our stay at your Montana cabin. You have provided everything we need to feel "at home".

It was fun to have the horses so close. Our granddaughter will be wanting to come back here with us!

Thank you for your advice on places to go around here-every one was great.

We hope to be able to return to this beautiful spot in Montana.

P.S. Thanks also for the eggs!

Wonderful!

  • 5 of 5

It was a comfortable and charming little cabin. Perfect for a peaceful evening after an adventure filled day at Yellowstone. Linda was a wonderful host that thought of everything you could possibly need to make the cabin feel like home. I would recommend this property to anyone.

We booked this place and felt it would be “nice”.

Linda was wonderful. Even to the point of offering a sweatshirt because we forgot to bring one. The cabin had everything. Food and clothes were all we needed to bring.

It’s charming and comfortable and convenient to everything

Linda, we WILL be back!! Thank you

Comfortable cabin with beautiful views

  • 5 of 5

My kids and I absolutely loved staying at this cabin. There is a 360 degree view of mountains and a beautiful sunset in the evening. The cabin itself is very comfortable with every kitchen appliance and tool you could possibly ever need. The decorating inside the cabin focuses on horses and makes the cabin very homey and comfortable. The beds were very comfortable and the hosts were incredibly nice and welcoming. The cabin was spacious for 3 people and we enjoyed hanging out inside or outside at the patio table. We really enjoyed visiting with the horses every morning and loved hearing them from the cabin throughout the day. The cabin is about 1 hour 20 minutes from Yellowstone. In the cabin there is a list of things to do in the area. We went horseback riding outside of Livingston at Bear Paw Ranch and the views were incredible. The cabin is near the small town of Clyde Park. There is a nice little grocery market in Clyde Park that has all the basics and a friendly staff. We would definitely stay again.

A great place to unwind. Mountain views, and many local scenic drives in the country. Hiking and mountain biking is nearby, with Yellowstone National Park just a little over an hour away. There is also an enclosed Grizzly Bear park on the Bozeman pass about half an hour away. The night sky is perfect for viewing all the stars and planets. It's very possible you'll hear a pack of coyotes howling in the distance, as well as the elk bugling. The gravel road is perfect for your morning or evening walk. Most likely our horses will be on the property, and they love carrots, apples, and attention!
