Overview

About the property

Cabin, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 6)

With spectacular views of three mountain ranges in the Shields River Valley, the cabin is a perfect place to get away from it all. Perfect for a writer's retreat, family getaway, or use as a home base to explore Montana. It's about a 20 mile drive to local skiing at Bridger Bowl, and only two miles to the small town of Clyde Park which has a country market, 2 bars, post office, hardware store, and gas station. Close to excellent fishing in the Shields or Yellowstone Rivers, and about an hour drive to Yellowstone National Park. The larger town of Livingston which has many art galleries, entertainment, fine dining, and everything else you might need is 18 miles away. We are also about an hour drive to the closest airport and 2 hours to Billings.

Conveniently located off Hwy 89 on the route between Yellowstone and Glacier Parks, the cabin is in the heart of ranch country on a gravel road, perfect for those morning walks. At night you might hear owls hooting, elk bugling and coyotes yapping, while you look up at the star filled sky!

The cabin is quaintly decorated with country charm throughout. One bedroom has a queen bed and the other bedroom has a full size bed. Both have new memory foam mattresses in 2016, very comfortable. In the living area there is a single hideabed couch. We can also accommodate with a Graco Pack and Play for baby.

There are only 2 neighbors nearby, which is ourselves and one other house.

Linda Hausler & Ric Steinke purchased this cabin in 2008

Why Linda Hausler & Ric Steinke chose Yellowstone Country

We love living in the Shields Valley and when we purchased our home it came with a cabin. We are happy to help folks enjoy Montana and give them an option other than a motel.

What makes this cabin unique

If you want to view some Wide Open Spaces, this is the place! Easy access off of Hwy 89 N. Country living.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We have really enjoyed our stay at your Montana cabin. You have provided everything we need to feel "at home".

It was fun to have the horses so close. Our granddaughter will be wanting to come back here with us!

Thank you for your advice on places to go around here-every one was great.

We hope to be able to return to this beautiful spot in Montana.

P.S. Thanks also for the eggs!

The cabin is just perfect. We would love to come back someday.

Gorgeous views greeted us each morning. What a great jumping off point for day trips all around the area. This was our first VRBO experience and we are excited to travel more and see the rest of the country this way. We highly recommend this property. Thank you Linda and Ric for allowing us to stay here.

Wonderful stay - peaceful mountain valley

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay in this wonderful cabin and all the comforts it provides. The valley was beautiful with an unexpected May snowfall, and even more enjoyable on the mornings when we awoke to find the sunshine just beginning to shine light on the tops of the mountains to the west. We were greeted by the calling of geese flying nearby and other birds singing in the country air. Our little dog loved taking walks on the quiet country road and was fascinated by the horses grazing in the pasture. This is a convenient location for visiting Yellowstone National Park and other attractions nearby. We hope to visit again in the future!

Anual girls snowshoeing trip!

  • 5 of 5

This was perfect location for what we wanted to do. The little cabin had everything we needed, including amazing views. The location is great for those seeking outdoor adventures. The crazy mountains are not far away. There are also many other mountain ranges not far. Our purpose for this trip was snowshoeing. We found great snowshoeing places within 20-30 min. drive. From the cabin there are views of mountains in almost every direction you look. The hostess was very friendly.

Peaceful & Serene

  • 5 of 5

This cabin worked out nicely for myself, son and granddaughter while she participated in USSA ski races. We found the cabin quiet and cozy after long days at the ski hill.

charming home in the country side

  • 5 of 5

The home is very comfortable to stay in. Love the country setting and the host and hostess was great. Clyde Park is just 2.5 miles down the road and it is a quaint little town. This home is not far from Livingston at all and easily traveled back and forth for dinner out. We eat at the Rib and Chop in Livingston and it was wonderful. In the evening we saw a herd of Elk in the fields and down the road a moose. We would recommend this charming home to friends.

Thank you for your hospitality.

Quaint, sufficient and relaxing!

  • 4 of 5

Gorgeous views of the Bridger and Crazy mountain ranges during sunrise and sunset! Friendly horses to visit and a great place to relax. Bring a pad to slip under the futon if you plan to use it though, or you'll be feeling slats all night... Otherwise a great little place to set up base camp as you explore the Shields River valley. :)

Owner's Response: Thank you Tera for staying with us, and we appreciate your honest feedback. That was the first we've heard of feeling the slats. We've replaced the bed with a brand new memory foam mattress and new frame, so future guests will have a great night's sleep!

A great place to unwind. Mountain views, and many local scenic drives in the country. Hiking and mountain biking is nearby, with Yellowstone National Park just a little over an hour away. There is also an enclosed Grizzly Bear park on the Bozeman pass about half an hour away. The night sky is perfect for viewing all the stars and planets. It's very possible you'll hear a pack of coyotes howling in the distance, as well as the elk bugling. The gravel road is perfect for your morning or evening walk. Most likely our horses will be on the property, and they love carrots, apples, and attention!
