When we first booked this home (advertised as monthly only and "new") when it was first listed last summer, there were no reviews. And so, here is our review to help those looking to make their vacation choices.
First, with the "good": If you want to live a local, this is the place! Extremely walkable to what you expect as a tourist in Newport - harbor, mansions, shopping, and restaurants. AND all the amenities of a small cottage with grocery stores two blocks away! Communication with the property manager was very easy: she coordinated a lock-box for us, quickly brought cleaning supplies that were missing and replaced broken items at the start of our stay.
The "bad": cleaning service is not provided during the stay (this is implied in the listing), appliances are old and not functioning/functioning well (disposal doesn't work, washer has a very musty smell even after several washer cleanings, many of the bins in the fridge are cracked so be careful opening & closing). Lastly, when we arrived the home was "tidy" but not cleaned, especially the bathroom; which we promptly shared with the property manager, resulting in the quick delivery of cleaning supplies.

Our listing describes the apartment as "newly furnished," and we stand by that statement! While it is part of historic Newport, giving it plenty of character, it is not a new construction and the appliances are as pictured in the listing . We make it a priority to address maintenance needs, and we have recently removed the garbage disposal.
There is a standard one-time cleaning fee included in our listing. If a cleaning service had been requested during your stay, we would have been more than happy to arrange that for you.
We strive to prepare thoroughly for every guest, and our cleaning protocols are very important to us. The house was cleaned prior to your arrival. You mentioned needing to clean one item when you contacted us, but we were not informed of any other cleanliness issues.
To clarify, our prompt response with additional supplies was not due to a cleaning oversight. You conducted an inventory of items in the house and asked for more supplies for your month-long stay.
We requested that you send us a shopping list, and without hesitation, we provided everything you requested, from paper towels, toilet paper, new coffee cups, cleaning supplies to your preferred laundry detergent brand. We went the extra mile because we believe these details matter, and we take pride in caring for each guest.

We have lived in Newport for over 20 years! We love the downtown area and this apartment is one of our favorites places. It is cozy, close to downtown, walking distance from the grocery store, bars & restaurants, boating, and all that is FUN in Newport!!
