A Beautiful Relaxing Apartment
I couldn't imagine a better place to kick back and relax in Ceret. The apartment is perfect in every way. After a busy week in Berlin, we enjoyed the quiet of Ceret and having a home away from home. Fresh croissants and coffee on the balcony were a great way to start every day. The apartment is well located , tastefully decorated, clean, lacks for nothing, and is extremely comfortable. We enjoyed day trips, the market, and just hanging out. I highly recommend it, and can't way to stay there again.

Hi, Roberta,
We're so pleased you enjoyed your stay, especially because you mentioned in our Guest Book that your friends who stayed in Ciel Bleu previously recommended it. We just arrived yesterday ourselves for a two-month stay and already are enjoying the view from our balcony. Our best wishes for fun future travels. Hope you will have a chance to come back to Ciel Bleu. Elaine and Michael, owners
We are spending 2 months in France and were recommended to start in Ceret. We spent 2 weeks and loved every minute of it.
Such a great location, overlooking the Pyrenees - especially beautiful as we sat on the small terrace as the sun set.
Remi, the property manager, was remarkable. We were late checking in (be careful to get the correct exit from the highway or you end up in Spain!) but that didn't matter to him at all. He was there to help us with all our questions and even found a place for us to stay in Collioure!
And another great plus! The Saturday market is literally outside the front door! So much fun!

Ceret property 327083
This apartment is dated, grimey and cluttered and requires total refurbishment. The owners haven't replaced anything in years. The bed linen resembles old rags and the pillow cases didn't even fit the pillows. The pillows were absolutely filthy and could not be used. The bathroom is tiny, very dated and dirty. There is no wardrobe - just a hall cupboard which stores the vacuum cleaner and other clobber including dead flies and filth. We would not recommend this property. Neither would we ever return.

Dear Ms. Donovan, We are very disappointed to hear that you did not enjoy your stay. Our other renters have told us how glad they were to stay in Ciel Bleu, especially how well it is furnished. And we have never before received negative feedback about its cleanliness. Please feel free to contact us directly if you'd like to discuss your concerns further. Sincerely, Elaine and Michael

Heavenly Ciel Bleu
One can practically touch the heavens from the balcony of this wonderful apartment. Ciel Bleu lacks for nothing as is evidenced by the rave reviews from those that preceded us. The location is perfect, the apartment is spotless and the internet lightening fast. Wonder of wonders, there is even a separate tumble dryer as opposed to one of those combination things that hold one's clothes hostage for at least six hours.
The care and concern with which the owners treat their guests is extraordinary. I cannot imagine the time it took to put together the binders and the user manual. Nothing has been left to chance.
Little things mean a lot when traveling...the rubber mat In the shower, a shower that does not flood the entire bathroom, a clean sponge in the
kitchen ,a well equipped kitchen, good lighting for those of us who still prefer to hold printed matter in our hands, the wifi password in advance so one can copy and paste...I could go on and on.
My husband spent many happy hours observing the neighborhood from his perch on the balcony. Indeed, there were days when it was hard to get him to leave the apartment. What shines through is that Ciel Bleu is a home and not just an income property. The owners obviously love their home and you will too.

A Return to Paradise
Summer is behind us now, but my wife Shelley and I still can't get Ceret and 'Appartement Ciel Bleu' out of our minds. In June we enjoyed our second visit, this time staying for two weeks. The qualities and comforts of the apartment were every bit as perfect as they were before, and it was fun to go on to do more exploring of the town and the surrounding area.
We've always loved the South of France, and it's great to find a location that's less trampled by tourists than Provence and the Côte d'Azur. Especially since it's got everything we enjoy right there. As beaches go, for instance, Argelès-sur-Mer couldn't be better. Less than 30 minutes away, it has a wide, uncrowded white-sand municipal beach and dozens of affordable seaside restaurants.
Something else that's barely been mentioned... if you're into medieval architecture and history, Ceret is an ideal jumping off point. About 40 minutes to the east is Collioure, with its massive 13th century castle rising up from an enclosed harbor. Even closer is a quiet little city called Elne, which has an impressive 12th through 14th century cathedral and a beautiful Romanesque cloister.
One day a driving expedition took us to to Prats-de-Mollo-la-Preste, a small but totally functioning walled town 40 minutes west of Ceret. There we wandered freely (in both senses of the word) through parapets and fortifications, then enjoyed a pastis at sunset under a tree below an ancient turret. On a slightly longer drive, (heading east of Perpignon), we discovered multiple amazing churches and abbeys along the Têt River, and explored the walled city of Villefranche-de-Conflent, which is a UNESCO world heritage site.
Two things that have changed since our first visit are worth noting. One is the arrival of "Fred's," a new restaurant in town recommended to us by Elaine and mentioned by another commenter. It has a lovely enclosed patio, the food and service are superb, and the prices are far more reasonable than you'd expect for truly gourmet faire. The other thing that's changed is that a high speed train now runs from Perpignan to Barcelona (and beyond). On our first trip to Ceret we explored a few nearby spots in Spain, but this time we zipped down to Barcelona for an overnight jaunt. What a treat.
I guess those are the words I should use to wrap up my thoughts about Elaine and Michael's 'Appartement Ciel Bleu'. What a treat.

We are really happy that you enjoyed your return stay and that you continued to explore all that the town and surrounding area has to offer. Our sincere best wishes.

Outstanding location, in an interesting area of town, well equipped, comfortable. Like all the previous reviewers we loved the views over the rooftops to the hills. We can also endorse the recommendations for the bakery round the corner - their croissants made each breakfast a delight and the bread straight from the oven was great. Having the market right on your doorstep is quite special and the Saturday morning buzz was really enjoyable. The weather was unseasonably hot and the air conditioning proved a tremendous boon.
Our only reservation re the flat was that we found the bed less than comfortable. The mattress was soft and not particularly supportive and the bed linen was tired and needing to be replaced. As there is no head board the wall behind the bed was quite marked and the bedroom generally needed a lick of paint. However we are aware that we were staying at what is likely to be the end of the season and no doubt these things will be addressed.
Our stay overall was really enjoyable and Ceret is a perfect venue for a great holiday.

We are pleased that you enjoyed your stay and that you found our apartment well equipped and comfortable. Thank you for your comments regarding the bedroom. We have not stayed there ourselves since last summer and so we have asked Remi, our manager, to look into the situation. We find the mattress comfortable when we stay and other guests have not mentioned it as a concern but we respect that preferences for firmness may differ. Remi will be checking that, checking if the wall needs to be repainted or just needs a good scrub, and also making certain that the linens we purchased during our last stay are being used. Our best wishes in your future travels. Elaine and Michael

Thank you for your review. I have translated it into English below for the benefit of some of our potential guests. Please let us know what we can do next time to earn that 5th star. Best, Elaine and Michael :-)
The apartment is clean and complete. Fully equipped, including air conditioning, which was great with the heat. The reception by Remy was great.
The property is a perfect place to enjoy the lovely town of Ceret. A beautiful location, and the flat has everything you need. Its clean, it has air conditioning (which was a must when it was 42 degrees!) and perfect for the Saturday market which is a must to visit. Definitely a great place to stay.

The property is extremely well situated and is very comfortable
We always enjoy our holidays in Ceret, and this most recent visit was no exception. This property is clean and comfortable, and is well situated for old Ceret, and everything the town has to offer. The wonderful Saturday market is on your doorstep. We had no difficulty during our stay, and everyone was very helpful.

Ciel bleu -a quiet cosy retreat
We found the flat to be a convenient base for visiting the whole region; from Carcassonne in the west, to Montpellier in the east- as well as south into Spain - Barcellona.
The flat is very well equiped - everything you might need right down to spare light bulbs and umbrella if it rains.
Quiet, a boulangerie just round the corner and a good range of restaurants.
The weather was splendid for the whole time we were there (spring & early summer 2018)
