About the property

4 bedrooms,1.5 baths accomodates eight adults, one or two infants

The Villa at Eastie overlooks the harbor and shipping channels, early morning lobstermen can be seen from the sunroom hauling their traps, as well as the ships coming to port. Plane bugs (id book) will love the spectacular view of Logan Int. Airport. At the end of the street is Constitution Beach. There are bicycles and kayaks for the adventurous or relax in the fountain garden. Smell the sea breeze and reminisce about the politics that must have been discussed in this former Senators home. Entertain in the formal dining room under the crystal chandelier or relax and read a book on one of the balconies overlooking the harbor. The Blue line(public trans) is only a few blocks away and offers a ride to the airport station and free shuttle bus to your terminal, a few more stops and you are downtown for world class shopping, restaurants, museums and the Swan boats ride. Arrange for a daylong antique 'pickers' tour and our driver will take you to the hidden spots where only the dealers buy.

Why Nelson Emmons chose East Boston

We are close to all that Boston has to offer, either by car or public transportation.

What makes this villa unique

The sheer size and location on Boston Harbor was one of the most attractive features that lured us to purchase the Villa. It's ease to public transportation connecting all the city has to offer without the need of a car, was a real game changer. The view from the sun porch and in the summer months having a glass of wine on the upper balcony is delightful while watching the planes come and go. It is similar to an orchestrated symphony.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Madeline and Nelson:

It certainly has been a whirlwind since we returned from Boston and I

apologize for the delay in getting this out to you.

Thank you very much for opening your home to all of us. We had a most

enjoyable time. Your home is comfortable and so lovely and charming. We

enjoyed every aspect of your house and we met some of your neighbours who

are equally as nice and as friendly.

Going back to Boston and the Cape was reliving my childhood and one that

was both refreshing and sad at the same time. Progress has certainly taken

over and a lot has changed.....thank goodness the character of the City and

the people have remained the same.....just as friendly and charming as ever.

I never thought the road to the Cape would ever be complete. When I was

growing up it was the worst road in the world. What a wonderful change

seeing the road complete. The ride we had was wonderful, no traffic and

smooth sailing all the way. The T has improved as well and we used it a

lot. Downtown Crossing has a new grocery store called Roche

Bros.....fantastic place. We shopped there quite a bit. Their produce was

amazing as was their Butcher Shop......the desserts, we could eat them but

preferred the North End for that....the walk justified all the Italian

pastry!

We cooked in two nights and had so much fun with that. I have always

wanted a gas cook top and finally had the chance to use one. We set the

smoke alarm off and you should have seen us. We didn't know if you were

hard wired to the Fire Hall......thank goodness you were not. We laughed

so hard we cried. Six grown adults fanning the smoke (very minimal, I was

doing a chicken stir fry and accidentally put in olive oil vs

peanut...olive oil does not like high heat) when we all decided to open the

windows......we are still laughing about that today. The Fire Department

did not come, the house is still standing, we had a good laugh and we had a

great dinner that night...all is well with the world.

Your paintings are spectacular, the decor was perfect, your neighbourhood

was so friendly and welcoming. The planes captivated us every night and

during breakfast every morning.....we miss them but did get educated in the

flight path of Logan International.

We managed to walk the entire Freedom Trail, tour Cambridge, go into Mass

General and the museum to visit my cousins, take in a game at Fenway and

tour all the Cape along with Plymouth. We walked about 10 miles a day

Such a great vacation!

Our family cannot thank you enough for the use of your home and it's warmth that surrounded us. The paintings within, the planes, the weather. The skyline, and all that is Boston made this one of our favorites! The Remons

Great place to Stay

  • 5 of 5

Perfect location, easy to get to downtown and be out of the hustle and bustle in the evenings. Beds were very comfortable. Owners were very quick to respond to all questions and offer recommendations when asked. Home was clean and well appointed. Would stay here again.

Wonderful!

  • 5 of 5

The Villa was a wonderful place to stay on our recent trip to Boston! We enjoyed the large rooms and all the great amenities! We especially loved the sunroom where we started each day and ended each day! It is located near the subway so we did not have to drive into Boston. We used the Suffolk Downs station because we could park our car there. We enjoyed the harbor, the action from the airport, and the television in each bedroom. Even though the Villa is located across the harbor from the airport, we could not hear the noise from the planes because the house is quite soundproof. Nelson was a great host! He met us at the Villa and gave us lots of ideas about places to eat, etc. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and we would return to the Villa again if we were visiting in Boston.

Beautiful Home with Great Views

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Nelson and Madeline's home. We stayed for 9 nights, with 3 adults and 3 children. It was extremely comfortable and well stocked with everything we needed for making meals while there. We were there over Independence Day and witnessed some fantastic fireworks. On the 3rd from the yacht club and on the 4th, Winthrop put on a great show that we could see quite well from the street. The house is located about a block away from the entrance to Constitution Beach. We bought a couple of inexpensive beach chairs from CVS (2 blocks away), and enjoyed lounging on the beach while the kids played in the water. The house is about a 10 minute walk to the T where you can easily ride in to any part of Boston. No matter our daily adventure, the house was cool and inviting to return to in the evening. The beds were extremely comfortable. The jacuzzi tub was wonderful to relax in after a long day of walking and exploring. One of my favorite things about the house were the sunroom and balcony. I loved to sip my tea in the morning while watching the planes from the sunroom. In the evening I would sit out on the balcony with my 11 year old twins and take in the sights and sounds of the Boston skyline, the airport and the surrounding neighborhood. I can't wait for our next trip back. This is definitely a house worth renting.

Owner's Response: It was a real pleasure to meet your family and host your vacation. The vantage point for the 4th fireworks really is super and we are thrilled you had the opportunity to take them in. Looking forward to a return vacation when the twins are a little older and will want to explore Boston again with the knowledge that they have been there before. Take Care

Exactly what expected as a Boston experience. Old 100 + years old full of rich hardwood trims. Perfect place for a family or friends traveling together as this house is huge and comfy.

Very comfortable, conveniently located, and full of history and art.

Boston natives were very hospitable, friendly and fun. We were able to pack a week's worth of activities in the short time we were there. It would have been just as nice to hang out at the house and enjoy the ambiance and views.
