The place is great. The only problem was the coffee pot broke. The handle snapped when filling it over the sink. Luckily no one was hurt. Thanks we enjoyed the visit.

Great Family Stay

We stayed here for my families summer vacation and it was wonderful. We had lots of kids and adults, spacious house with convenient location to the lake. The back yard was a little smaller than we planned, but the atv trails are close for a quick walk down by the lake. Wonderful stay, beds and couches were so comfy!

70th Birthday

It doesn't list that you have neighbors so very close, or that there was an atv trail along the side of the house. But for the most part it was a great house. My mom turned 70 and we spent the weekend there. It was a bit further away from any grocery store than I had hoped. We did enjoy our time.

New Years Get Away

This rental was very clean. Nice to get away. Lots of room for games. Relaxing hot tub! Kitchen was nice lots of supplies for cooking!

Good location and quiet area

Good stay overall. We stayed in winter and was hoping to utilize the hot tub, but it was not properly maintained. Also sleeper sofa bedding was not changed. Other than that we had a great stay. Fix our group of 8 perfectly.

Family Reunion

The property was perfect for 4 couples. Would have liked a longer stay to enjoy all the amenities such as all the games and the fire pit. Loved the proximity to Apple Canyon Lake, especially the marina. Beautiful home… great stay!

Even better than expected!

The house is gorgeous and has a lot of character. It was perfect for a weekend getaway with friends. Our favorite part was the enclosed porch on the upper floor. It went perfectly with the late August weather.

Applewood stay

All in all it was a great place to stay. A couple of things that need attention. Could not find the remote to turn on fireplace and a suggestion for the TV in main room. A smart TV would be appreciated. The Chanel that was on the information sheet was CH30, however I believe it was actually CH18. Took us awhile to figure that out. Other than that our family enjoyed our stay!

Father’s Day Weekend

Great place to stay. Love the cleanliness, kitchenware, open layout, and decor. It’s nice and close to the marina, tennis courts, and Cove as well. When we had questions in a few things, we got responses from the host as well. Would love to stay here again!

Nice home

The home is very nice and suitable for families. The hot tub room and upper screened in porch are filthy and need to be deep cleaned. The open concept on main floor is very nice to gather or play games. Plenty of room and everything we needed. It is not too far to drive to pool or lake. Fire pit area could be cleaned up. We would stay again!

We loved it!

Quiet location, great for getting away. We all enjoyed the cabin very much. Was very roomy and suited us all. Everything was clean and stocked well with basic necessities. We loved it and hope to return.

Apple Canyon Lake

Last minute booking to Jo Davies Co., found mgmt co. to be super accommodating & flexible to our families needs for a long wknd in Galena area. Cabin had plenty of room & really everything we needed to unwind, relax & enjoy family time. We hiked nearby trails accessible from rental including Apple Canyon State Park, 2 waterfalls & downtown Galena during our stay. Cooked meals on the grill and in kitchen which was adequately equipped. We did have trouble w/the gas fireplace & tv upstairs. Gas fireplace seemed to be on a timer & shut off so would only run for brief moments @ a time, we never did get tv upstairs working even though we followed instructions left in binder. Kids were able to watch tv, stream music, etc. in basement & their rooms. Enjoyed the hot tub, games, side porch w/nice Weber gas grill & view of lake …the stars at night were a blessing. By our 2nd day it was quite warm, master bdrm had no screens which was a bummer because as far as we knew cabin wasn’t equipped w/A/C. We managed however by opening windows & fans provided. Lots of natural light in cabin, beautiful sunsets in backyard, atv trails galore which run right along side the cabin if that’s your thing & throughout this resort area. We felt that some of the outdoor spaces here incl. hot tub room, back yard, fire pit area, small side porch w/grill were a missed opportunity & w/some small improvements & clean-up could be much better utilized. Overall, great stay & a nice getaway to unplug and relax. :)

I absolutely loved this rental except for the fact that my friends complained of stains on the bedding and I also found stains on the bedding that is why I gave cleanliness a three everything else was great...

Can Be Better

We had a good day communication with the management company was excellent. We noticed something. The average person would notice because we’re in the trades. They came right out and took care of it while we were out. Cooking appliances left a little to be desired small frying pan for a large group doesn’t work large frying skillet. Nice but it was awful of rust. Second coffee pot left down. The counter was left full of coffee from who knows how long before we got there there was mold growing in the coffee. We washed it out and threw the cabinet. Fire pit, not like the photograph totally different not usable too close to the trees. Sitting outside at night was very nice. Weather was great. Only problem is there is a trail that goes around the property for everyone to use with their four wheelers and people were driving around their four wheelers till all hours of the night right past the front of the house, kicking up nothing but dust from the trail they were on. I stayed in this house 13-15 years ago It was nice then, but nothing‘s been upgraded since new mattresses would be nice.

Family weekend

Lots of room with spacious main floor where we could all be together and game areas and porches for separation. Everything on the interior of the cabin was clean and the kitchen was well-equipped with a new toaster and coffeemaker (although I would have preferred a keurig type with pods). The beds and pillows were plentiful and comfortable. The linens were clean but worn. The screened in porches needed a good dusting, and the doors to the outside didn’t lock or even fully close. Even so, we enjoyed the upstairs screened porch, playing scattergories on a stormy night! The gas grill is on its last leg, but we managed to light part of it and cooked in shifts. Location is great. Convenient to everything. Instructions for tv, internet, etc… were easy to follow. Host responded quickly to emails and helped me rent a pontoon. We had a great time and would go back.

Great location, but needs some upkeep

Great location, with a nice floor plan and very spacious. The area is nice- pool and beach, plus very affordable golf course just down the street. The "game room" was misleading- there is a shuffleboard-type bowling game that didn't really work, a small foosball table, and a very small air hockey table in need of some repairs. There are a lot of board games, puzzles, etc. but everything was very used and abused and missing pieces or broken. The bedrooms, kitchen, and bathrooms are all large, quiet, and comfortable for a large family, but could use general maintenance and repairs- light bulbs out, loose screws and knobs and towel racks, etc. The fire pit area is quiet and secluded, but we had to bring our own chairs to the backyard as there wasn't any seating. Great place if you're looking to spend time outdoors and around the lake- but could use a good once-over to get back to perfect working condition for those days/nights spent inside the cabin.

If You Like Mice, Drugs, and Dirty Panties

...this is the place for you. Filthy. Disgusting. Unsafe. We found beer bottles, dirty underwear, and a ziploc bag of drugs under the bed. DO NOT BRING CHILDREN. Things are dusty, broken, and hazardous. If you came for the hot tub, DO NOT COME. They blamed the jacuzzi not heating on us because the water level got low when we all got in. However, the truth of the matter is one of our guests got in both hot tubs they gave us access to on her own for at least 15 minutes and it was cold both times before the water level lowered. The property manager made us go to another property to get the hose after we asked her to help us so it became a job to refill a hot tub that never worked in the first place. The hot tub is really small and has one jet that no one feels. It's a Luke warm outdoor bath at best. While working at the other house, we noticed the hot tub over there appeared better. I believe they offered us access to that hot tub because I mentioned it. But it was dysfunctional as well. We did make mistakes when trying to work the hose and do the work on our own. But again, I left a voice-mail asking the property manager to come fix it once we realized how complicated things were getting (we originally offered to fill it ourselves) and she responded by texting us instructions of getting what we needed from the house next door). So that's on them for leaving us to do something that they originally offered to do and we eventually asked them to do. The water began to overflow because we came upstairs to warm up. Our hands were freezing from working. Mice droppings were everywhere on every level of the house. On the counters on the ledge, on the floor, under the bed,on the windows. Everywhere. We barely wanted our things in the house when we realized how bad it was. The place is utterly disgusting. We tried to make the best of it. We cleaned, we disinfected, we threw things away that were not ours and sent a list of all the issues to the owners. The property managers responded with an equal, in length, letter blaming us for most of it and explaining that the mice problem is the fault of past guests who leave the door open and it being in the woods. Not that the house has several entry points that need to be sealed. Not clean, Rosebud is not accountable, not safe, not worth the money. They offered to refund the cleaning fee which we are waiting on. We stayed at one of their properties last year and had the opposite experience. Never again though
