Relax in a private wooded setting, located 25 minutes from beautiful downtown Waynesville. We have a beautiful view!
Enjoy cool summer evenings or gorgeous autumn views on the porch while looking at the seven mountain chains in the distance. Play golf at some of Western North Carolina's finest golf courses.
We are in rural Fines Creek, farm country with no hustle and bustle. Cool evenings and warm sunny days.
We are on a seven acre piece of ground in western North Carolina in Pisgah National Forest, with many fir trees surrounding the cabin. Flowers are in abundance.
No Smoking, Please!
Nathan and I came to the mountains first on a part time basis and at that time built our home on this seven acre piece of property. We started to rent out the cabin which was a family house that we were able to manage since about 1993. We started slow but soon built a group of rentors, many of whom return. Then about four years ago, Nathan built another house on the property and we are renting it out as well. This area is laid back and beautiful,we have a creek bubbling down the bank, next to the guest houses. We have enjoyed our lives here on our mini-farm, and want to have others enjoy it too.
Martha Tracy purchased this cabin in 1993
The property was in the family and we wanted to be here in Fines Creek! It is a lovely area and really not far to most people who live in the East!
There is one traffic light between here and Waynesville! Around every bend in the road, whether it is summer or winter, there is something special to be seen. This is rural America at its best. You can lay back and relax, bring a pet along.
Hi Nate and Martha: Just wanted to tell you how much we enjoyed our stay in your little cabin...just wanted to let you know how much fun we had. Thanks so much.
Hi, We have a comment regarding our stay at fines creek..Tony,Barb, A.J. and Ryan-Michigan, Its actually Illinois-this cabin was truly wonderful! The most peaceful serene spot we have ever been to.If you buy enough food for your stay, you don't really need to leave the cabin at all. It has everything you need to hole up and do nothing but soak up the beautiful scenery.
This was a trip my boyfriend planned for my birthday (lucky woman I am)!! We couldn't have been happier with our stay. It was so peaceful and relaxing. The view was incredible to wake up to every day. Thank you to Martha and Nate for having everything ready and waiting for us. My birthday weekend was amazing!! We highly recommend this cabin!

Overall we really enjoyed this cabin. The cabin is spacious and quiet. The tenants are accommodating and friendly.
All of the utilities in the cabin work well and the shower always runs warm. The house naturally cools itself, if windows are kept open, so not having AC was not an issue for us.
That being said, the location, while beautiful and very scenic, is far away from most things. Plan on a minimum of a 30 minute drive, one way, to get somewhere. This includes basic things like going to the grocery store and getting gas for the car.
The cabin was a bit dirty when we got here, but was easy to clean up. The dryer and washer are old, but work really well.
The noise level here is not bad. Occasionally, at night, the neighboring dogs will bark, but in way this is a comforting sound.
There is wifi, but no cell phone signal. Plan to drive out about a mile or so before getting a signal again, or waiting till you get to the closest highway.
Low clearance vehicles will make it across the unkept road before the house. Keep an eye out for rocks however and do not slow down on the hill on the way up.
We would gladly come back here. There is a certain charm to the cabin that is unique and calming. Thank you!
We did not have a very good experience with the cabin itself. The renters were nice and the area/property was nice. We arrived to tons of spiders and webs. The bed sheets did not seem to have been washed before our arrival. We saw eyebrow hair and even found a nice spider inside the sheets, but yes plenty of hairs on the sheets. On the second day of our stay, both toilets started leaking on to the floor. They seemed bothered by the fact that we tried to contact them on the fourth of July about it, but offered us to move to another cabin, but it was already 8pm by the time they got back to us.
We chose to stay here because of the reviews and the scenery. We may have just had a bad experience?
Overall, we enjoyed our stay very much. The location is quite remote and the view is gorgeous. We've stayed in a couple of cabins over the years and this one had by far the best equipped kitchen, which I appreciated. The location is about 35 minutes from Max Patch mountain which is definitely worth a stop. The last twenty minutes to the cabin is a gorgeous--if very curvy--drive. As with most rural areas, I would not recommend taking a low clearance vehicle due to the gravel roads. It's a breathtaking area, and one of the things I loved about it was how non-touristy it was. Wonderful place to hole up and get in some fresh air and reading.
Below I've listed a few things I think renters should consider with this listing. They were not problems for us, but they are good to know.
-While there are two bedrooms, the smaller one has a ceiling that opens to the rest of the cabin, so it's not very private.
-The second toilet really is "in" the master. There is only a small privacy screen separating it from the room.
-Guests are expected to launder towels and sheets and remake beds.
-Guests are expected to drop off their own garbage at a dump about twenty minutes away.
-There is no cell service. There is wi fi but it was hit or miss.
-There is no A/C. This was in the listing but I overlooked it. It was cool the whole time we were there and didn't breach the 78* mark but if you're warm blooded this might be a consideration for you.
-Nearest grocery store is Food Lion in Lake Junaluska, about 25 minutes away.
-Would recommend arriving during daylight hours as it might be a little hard to find at night.
If you're looking for a secluded, non-touristy location to relax, this place fits the bill.
We enjoyed a cool relaxing week at Fines Creek. It's a great little rustic cabin. Martha and Nate could not have been nicer! My 2 year old daughter was excited to see the cows in the mornings, and the fireflies put on a show every evening. If you're looking for a quite, reasonably priced, country place to relax for a few days I would definitely recommend Fines Creek.
