Key Largo is about 100 miles from Key West and is said to have a more laid back vibe. It would be great to spend 2-3 days in Key Largo, maybe look into Key Largo boat hire and enjoy that famous Florida Keys sunshine for as long as possible. Key Largo and Tavernier Key was used as a rendezvous point for Bahamian wreckers. It offered protection from Atlantic gales and a great view of the Upper Keys reefs. Tavernier began as a farming community late in the 19th Century to become a world famous fishing destination.
