A Delightful Sailor's Home with a Spectacular Waterfront Location
Some of our guests have said, “Amazing home!”, “We loved this home”, “Ideal location!”, “Perfect spot for our family, “Immaculate”, “This is by far our most FAVORITE vacation yet”, “Highly recommended”, “We cannot wait to come back”, “Most fun vacations I’ve ever had!!”, “Truly gracious hosts who thought of everything to make us feel at home”, “It was really hard to leave”
You will appreciate our home on lovely Flathead Lake and how easy it is to get to Kalispell, Whitefish Mountain Resort, and Glacier National Park.
Our sailing and ocean background has heavily influenced the design and construction of our 3061 square foot home. It has a very coastal and nautical feel with painted open beam ceilings, painted tongue and groove wood plank walls, and Brazilian cherry wood floors. Almost every room has a gorgeous view of the lake and the home is decorated with our mementos from around the world. The kitchen has custom knotty pine cabinets plus granite countertops and a lovely viewing area that is perfect for your first cup of coffee. The master suite and elegant travertine tiled bathroom are on the main floor next to a smaller bedroom and bath perfect for children. The living room has a hand-crafted tile gas fireplace. Upstairs are two more bedrooms and a striking bathroom with a large soaking tub and tiled shower. There is a very spacious family room where you can play games or watch a movie. The fifth bed room is on the third floor, aptly named, “The Crow's Nest”, where the view is spectacular. The deck has two levels, one for barbequing and outside dining, the other for lounging and soaking in the hot tub. We have a nice dock for your boat and two stable kayaks to tour the lake.
Our home was designed and built by us, Robin and Patti Graham, home builders and author of the books “Dove” and “Home is the Sailor”.
We are now offering our home as a weekly rental while we do some more traveling and enjoy our grandkids

Beautiful home with everything you need. Amazing views on Flathead Lake. Perfect for a family stay. They have thought of everything. We Would definitely book again!
We had a great stay! Everyone in our group loved the house, and they have everything you might need for a great stay! Kayaks and things for the lake, fully equipped kitchen for cooking, and more! You can tell it is a truly cared for home! We have been visiting lakeside for 10 years and this one was memorable.
Our family had an incredible time in this immaculately decorated and designed home on the lake. We thoroughly enjoyed watching the sunset and moon rise over the mountains in the evenings as well as kayaking and boating during the day. We were able to rent a boat out to Wild Horse Island and even take a day trip into Glacier NP. It made an excellent home base for our family.
Our second year staying at the property and it never disappoints. The home is immaculate and incredibly comfortable. All the amenities you could ask for, from the kitchen to the water toys. Patti and Robin are amazing hosts. They are so easy to communicate with, gracious and accommodating. Our kids love the toys they provide and the outdoor space provides everything both adults and children could want. I would recommend this home to anyone looking for a comfortable and relaxing stay at the lake.
A Delightful Sailor's Home was an amazing place for me and my family. There were 7 adults and 2 children and there was plenty of room with lots of places to hang out inside and out. We stayed for a full week and could not have asked for a better location, home, or set up. The house was beautiful, clean and situated right on Flathead Lake. The dock was perfect for swimming, and the home came with all the amenities, toys, activities and accessories we could ask for. The owners were incredibly responsive and gave us tons of recommendations for what to do. We would 100% stay here again!
This is the second time we have stayed at Robin's & Patti's home. The experience is magical with our entire family (7 adults) enjoying a peaceful and comfortable week in their beautiful home. Kayaking, fishing, hiking, boating, relaxing & cooking were all on the menu. The Graham's are gracious hosts and we look forward to continuing to use their home for future family gatherings.
We can't say enough great things about this home. The home is very clean, beautifully decorated, well stocked and in such an amazing location. Robin and Patti are great hosts and available if needed. I would recommend this vacation rental and hope to return a 3rd time! Thank you Robin and Patti!
We loved our stay here and hope to stay here again in the future. We brought our boat with us and kept it on the dock. My boys fished on the dock as well. Kayaks and canoes are provided plus much water toys. The home is beautifully decorated and has a nice island feel. Host Patti was amazing and replied quickly to questions. She also mailed back prescriptions I forgot at their home.
It’s hard to put into words how much we enjoyed our stay at this property. There were two families of four, all with children under the age of 7 and we simply didn’t want to leave. From the moment you wake up and get to take in the lakefront view in each room, to the day spent on the incredible deck, lawn and beach, it was the best lake house I’ve ever stayed at. Patti and Robin could not have been more accommodating and the pictures do not do this property justice. We will absolutely be coming back.
We have stayed at this beautiful lake house more than once, and every visit has been nothing short of amazing. The home itself is stunning—spacious, spotless, and thoughtfully designed with everything you could possibly need for a comfortable stay. The owners have gone above and beyond to make it feel welcoming, from the cozy furnishings to the little details that make a big difference. The location on the lake is simply perfect. Waking up to the serene water views, enjoying coffee on the deck, and watching the sunset in the evenings made our time here so memorable. It truly feels like a peaceful retreat, yet with plenty of fun activities right at your doorstep. The accommodations are top-notch—well-equipped kitchen, comfortable beds, and plenty of space for everyone to relax. You can tell, Patti and Robin, the owners care deeply about their property and about ensuring guests have a wonderful experience. We can’t recommend this lake house enough. It’s the kind of place you look forward to coming back to again and again, and we’re so grateful to have found it!
My family (me, my husband and 3 children) spent a week in Robin’s beautiful lakeside home. The home is high end, tastefully and thoughtfully decorated. The water temp was a bit chilly. We kayaked, rented a boat and fished on Flathead lake. We cooked and grilled everyday which was easy as the kitchen was set up for it. We enjoyed July 4 fireworks from the deck which was fun. We are are close to both Kaleipell and Glacier National Park. We all greatly enjoyed our stay at Robin’s special home.
Our family enjoyed a week-long stay here at the end of June. Our crew consisted of adults and kids ranging in ages from 6-13. I grew up going to Flathead lake every summer and this was my first opportunity to share that experience with my kids. Patti’s place was perfect in every way; it brought forth every bit of nostalgia from my childhood summers on the lake. It’s warm and welcoming and thoughtfully equipped with everything you need- from water toys to board games- to a range of tools, spices, linens, etc. to prepare home cooked meals. The views are stunning, grounds and dock are incredibly well maintained and provided the perfect setting to make special memories with my family. Beyond the space, Patti was communicative, kind, and accommodating. I could not have asked to a better experience and am grateful for this gem of a location to make special memories with my family.
We're had such a wonderful time at this beautiful home. The home was just perfect in every way, from the rooms to the dock (which includes all sorts of kayaks and water toys), the patios, kitchen and BBQ, just wonderful.
They really thought of everything, wood for the fire pit by the lake, plenty of fuel for the BBQ, toys, games, books and DVD, each with something for all ages... and the views, just amazing.
We got a lot of use from the dock with the kayaks included and a rental boat from nearby. Robin and Patti were just wonderful in every way and we are glad we got to meet them as they are so fun and interesting (not a lot of people I know have books and movies about their adventures like the Graham's).
It was a perfect week.
If you're looking for a peaceful escape with plenty of charm, A Sailor’s Home is ideal. From the moment you arrive, you'll be captivated by the stunning lake views and the beautiful backyard. Inside, the home is immaculate with the owner’s personal memorabilia throughout. The kitchen is fully equipped, making it easy to whip up meals for family and friends. The bedrooms are comfy and inviting, and the bathrooms are clean and well-appointed.
The best part of this lake house is the outdoor space. The grass area is perfect for kids to play and there’s a private dock where you can swim, fish, take out a kayak or access your private boat, if you choose to rent one from the nearby marinas. And at night, the fire pit is the perfect spot for roasting marshmallows and socializing.
The hosts, Patti and Robin are wonderful and make sure you have everything you need for a great stay. They go above and beyond to make you feel at home.
Vacationing on Flathead Lake has become a yearly tradition for my family and this home has been our favorite to date. You will not regret renting this home and the beautiful setting, comfortable amenities, and friendly hosts make it a place you'll want to come back to again and again.
Enjoyed the stay. There was confusion before we got there regarding the parking. There was plenty of room for all of the family.Loved the closeness to the lake and a somewhat protected cove.Would recommend this place to rent.
My family and I have been vacationing on Flathead lake for many years. This was the first time we’ve stayed on this side of the lake and we hope it will not be our last! The house was perfect for what we needed. All of the unique touches in the home, combined with the amazing view made for a perfect little gateway. We hope to return in the future to this sailors gem!
What a great property. Everything you could want for a relaxing entertaining stay. The kayak's are a great plus . The younger children really enjoyed the smaller ones. Great beach area to watch the children play and they can warm up in the hot tub.
The Grahams are great hosts. Their house is beautifully decorated and always in exceptional condition.
Everything needed for a great vacation, both inside and out, is provided.
We have stayed at the Graham's home many times over the last several years. Every week has been speial for our entire family and has given us all many great memories. Our grandchildren especially love kayaking in front of the house as well as taking longer trips further out on the lake, as we all do. It's also the perfect spot to boat from, and many other activities are close if you choose to spend some time away from the lake.
We were a quick last minute booking at Flathead Lake as we normally go to Lake Coeur d'Alene for the warmer water. Our family had a fabulous time staying at Robin and Patti's Sailor House and the water was perfect. Their home is absolutely beautiful and we all felt like we were so welcome and invited to share their little piece of lake heaven. Everything about their home has a cozy feel to it from the inside to the outside living. The few steps to the lake and dock made hoping on our boat so accessible. The wrap around deck expanded the living space and we spent many mornings and evenings enjoying the gorgeous views from the hot tub. The Bonus room was a huge hit with the grandkids and all of the toys and movies made for some awesome hours of peace and quiet in the evenings while the adults enjoyed a glass of wine on the deck! We had a 2 yr old, a 2 month and 3 month old staying with us. We LOVED having a washer and dryer so convenient on the main floor. The kitchen is fully stocked with just about every item you may need and large enough to have several hands helping to prepare meals. The bedrooms are comfy and decorated in a soothing nautical theme. The boat bed was enjoyed by our 14 year old granddaughter where she would go sail away when the "littles" were just too annoying. They have every water toy, kayak, innertube, floaties, life jackets, lawn chairs, shovels, buckets, etc that you could ever need hidden behind the blue door under the house. It was a great discovery! The fire pit near the water is stocked with all the essentials for roasting marshmallows and sitting by an evening fire. I could go on and on but basically Patti and Robin have covered all the small details that we love when renting a vacation home. (The "Dove" soap made us smile) They made us feel like we were relatives that had come to visit and completely opened their home and loved to host our family. Thanks Patti and Robin!! It was a magical treat and they are just a special couple! We would definitely enjoy coming back to the Sailor House!
This is the fifth time our family (including children and grandchildren) has stayed at the Graham’s house on Flathead. It’s been a while since our last visit. It was great to be backand we have booked a week for next summer.
The house was in perfect shape and beautiful, as it always is. We bring our boat and have a great time tubing, wake boarding, skiing and cruising around the lake. Their dock and the location of their house are ideal for those activities. There is nice public launch a couple minutes from their house.
However, you don’t need a boat to enjoy the lake and area around Somers. The view from their deck is gorgeous. The deck, yard, swimming area and water toys provide hours of fun for everyone. They have added a couple smaller kayaks for the kids since we were there last. Our grandkids learned to paddle and used them a lot. I took one of the larger kayaks with our 8 and 10 year old granddaughters and paddled across to the yacht club. The entire week was full of many similar fun activities. The fire with s’mores was a special treat.
We continue to highly recommend Graham’s home. We have stayed at many rental properties. We have never had a better experience anywhere else. Robin and Patti are amazing hosts, keep their home in perfect condition and provide everything you could possibly need to have a wonderful vacation.

About the host
Hosted by Robin and Patti Graham
After a 5 year epic voyage of sailing a small boat around the world and writing the books “Dove” and “The Boy Who Sailed Around The World Alone”, Patti and I left the west coast of California forty two years ago to ride the wave of the “Back to the Land Movement” in Montana. We bought a quarter section of mountain top for $95 dollars an acre, built our log home, grew our own food and raised the gamut of farm critters. We also wrote about our struggles of growing in the Christian faith and our experiences of trying to live simply in “Home is the Sailor”. After 32 years we were missing the water so in 2003 we bought an older cabin on Flathead Lake. After spending our first night there we never spent another at the ranch and have never once looked back. We had come home. Two years later we built and moved into our dream home next door to our lovely historic cabin. After we had a couple of wonderful family “VRBO” vacations in Mexico we decided to list our lake cabin as a VRBO rental. It was a great experience. But as time goes on the wanderlust was creeping back and we wanted to do some more traveling. We sold our lake cabin, built nearby a wonderful 3750 sq. ft. “VRBO” yearly rental, 'Bella Vista', on the hillside overlooking Somers Bay and now are offering our personal home, 'A Delightful Sailor's Home', as a VRBO summer rental, as we come and go.
We hope you will enjoy the Flathead Valley as much as we do.
