What makes this cottage unique

This is one (maybe only) place in Michigan where you can watch the sunrise over Lake Huron and the sunset in Lake Huron. The crystal clear water enables swimmers to see a ship wreck in 15 ft. of water. The shallow water makes it kid friendly.

Peaceful and Relaxing

  • 4 of 5

Our family enjoyed this place so much! A very nice lake home with a beautiful view of Lake Huron. The sunsets were amazing and even watching a storm roll in was awesome! Lake was pretty cold when we first got there but warmed quickly by midweek (Definitely want to bring watershoes since the lake bottom is rocky). Great area for biking or walking your dog, and going to the lighthouses are a must. Had lunch at the marina restaurant and it was delicious. One day we went to Ocqueoc Falls (take 68 West out of Rogers City) to hike with our dog and the falls are so beautiful and there's a really nice park there. You can swim too. It was great! In Rogers City we went to the park down by the harbor and had ice cream; you get lots of ice cream for a reasonable price. Overall we had a great time and looking forward to going back to Presque Isle!

Most Amazing Sunsets

  • 5 of 5

Our family rented this cottage 5 years ago. Each year since, we have rented a cottage in different locations. We loved and missed this place so much that we came back this year. It is so beautiful and peaceful here. The house is tucked into the woods with a beautiful view of the bay. There are no immediate neighbors to one side and the owners have the cottage on the other side. It feels very private. The house is very clean and we comfortably slept 10 people (5 adults, 5 children). However, I did not spend too much time in the house because it is so beautiful to sit outside on the deck or in the water. There are also some small trails to walk on through the woods. The beach is very rocky, no sand, but there is a small platform deck to sit on. Aqua shoes are a must as the lake bottom is all rock, too. But the water is so clear and because it is shallow, it is relatively warm. We were able to just put our chairs in the water and relax. The kids had fun swimming. The bay is also the perfect place to kayak. I can't say enough about how beautiful it is here. The pictures shown don't do it justice. I highly recommend that the owner add some panoramic views of the shoreline. Also, you must catch the sunset at night. It is amazing and each night it was different. If you are lucky, you may also catch a storm passing over Lake Huron in the distance at night. We saw some of the wildest lightening across the sky.

Super-nice Cottage and Owner!

  • 5 of 5

My family has been coming to the Alpena area for many years, mostly staying at Grand Lake. This was our first time staying on North Bay. Me, my brother, my son, and his wife had a wonderful week at North Bay Getaway. The weather was nearly perfect the entire week; we really lucked out with that! The cottage is clean and comfortable, and has everything you may need for a week's stay. We used the gas fireplace often on cool mornings (very convenient!). The location is very private, with absolutely nothing but woods and beach to the South, and a handful of cottages that you can't see to the North. Steve, the owner, has a place right next door, and is often there in case you need anything, but will never intrude on your privacy. Steve was even kind enough to take us fishing on Lake Huron in his well-equipped boat! He's a very experienced fisherman. We caught four good size lake trout, the largest about 9 lbs. He even filleted them for us, and we cooked it on the grill. Excellent eating! Steve also showed us where the best places to fish Grand Lake are, and I put my boat in there several times during the week, also. Grand Lake has several public launches close by. This cottage is nearly walking distance to both of the Presque Isle Lights. The whole peninsula and surrounding area is very picturesque. The sunsets from the cottage were remarkable! Just gorgeous, looking west over North Bay. The deck is large and overlooks North Bay, with a gas grill and a nice new table and chairs. We enjoyed the sunny days on the deck. The water is very good quality, so you don't need to bring bottled if that's a concern. Satellite TV is great in the evening, or if you get a rainy day. Steve was also very prompt in returning my security deposit. We will definitely be returning to North Bay Getaway!

Presque Isle Vacation

  • 5 of 5

We had an amazing time at the North Bay Getaway. Cannot say enough about how clean and comfortable the home is. My sister and brother-in-law and my husband and I spend a week together in September (usually in the U.P.) We have always used VRBO to find a place to rent and North Bay has to be one of the best. The owner is one of the nicest people we have met on our travels. So accommodating and welcoming and full of good information about the area. We intend to return in 2015 (something we have never done before - we always move on to another area of Michigan. We just felt that there was so much more to see and do, so we will be returning.

May Not Be Able to Top This Place-----EVER!!!

  • 5 of 5

What a perfect place to vacation!! The cabin is very nice, very clean and the beds are very comfortable! The view from the front porch is amazing, we wanted someplace right on the water and this is certainly that, but for all of us the thing that made our week was watching the Bald Eagle and the immature Bald Eagles fly over our heads!! Breathtaking!! There is nothing you could want that wasn't provided for us. We've rented vacation houses for many years and I have to say this is the best! Steve was so helpful making sure everything was taken care of-----even as he was leaving for a 50th Anniversary trip-------still making sure there was nothing left to chance.

Great place, quite, beautiful, unbelievable sunsets from the deck, you can't ask for anything more this this house. Book it and Enjoy!! We did :-)
