Hello! Emily here, to tell you about my home in Colorado Springs. I am a Colorado native. I grew up in Denver and went to the Unversity of Northern Colorado. My husband grew up in Colorado Springs and is a physician here in town. My father's family settled in southern Colorado in the 1760's--so our roots run deep in this part of the country. Colorado Springs has so much to offer the traveler. The history of the area is like no other. From the gold mining towns to the railroads, to the Native Americans and to Pikes Peak--this town tells the story of the Old West. There is so much to do and see here! The city has great museums, shops, galleries, restaurants, brew pubs and night clubs. Five minutes from our door are some unbelievably amazing mountain trails for any level of hiker. We take pride in our collection of trail maps and guides that will help you plan your day. Garden of the Gods is a short drive to some of the most magnificent rock formations one can ever see. We love living here and take advantage of year round outdoor activities. Breckenridge ski area is a beautiful two hour drive away. My husband even cross country skis around our neighborhood! We bike and hike year round. We have deer, foxes and an occasional bear that visit our property. I am looking forward to talking to you about your stay at the Blue Gate.
Emily purchased this apartment in 2010
We are perfectly situated near the downtown area but you feel like you are in the mountains. If you are attending a conference at the Broadmoor you are literally around the corner from the resort and conference center. We are at the gateway to two beautiful canyons--North and South Cheyenne Canyon. The view from our deck constantly amazes us with it's beauty. The weather is quite mild and we get more sunny days that San Diego!
We have been told we have the best view in the area. It amazes us every day. This is a place where you can put your feet up and read a book while gazing at the mountain range. This is a place where you can enjoy the many outdoor activities that the Colorado front range has to offer. You can experience the luxurious feel of the Broadmoor Resort and take advantage of it's fine restaurants and lovely grounds but not break the bank.
Beautiful property, spacious comfortable apartment with lots of thoughtful details, owners available readily but complete privacy, amazing views from the deck, and 10-12 minute walk to conference buildings on Broadmoor campus. Emily provided coffee and breakfast items and plenty of toiletries. Fully functional kitchen, able to eat in. Also walkable to Stratton Open Spaces. Would absolutely stay again!
Perfect location to enjoy Colorado Springs! Beautiful views, convenient and comfortable. Owners reside on floors above so you can hear them at times but definitely beats a hotel!
Loved the location and spacious patio overlooking the mountains. Emily & George are charming hosts and very responsive. Wish we could stay longer!
My husband and I spent five nights at The Blue Gate in July. We loved everything about the property, from the amazing patio overlooking the mountains to all of the homey and comforting touches inside the house. Emily left us a bowl of goodies to start our trip and was extremely responsive when we needed to contact her regarding turning the air conditioning down. She thought of everything a traveler could possibly want or need and had it readily available at the property. The Blue Gate exceeded our expectations and we will definitely be returning there in the future. I highly recommend this VRBO to anyone looking for a home away from home in Colorado Springs.
For those with interest in being close to the Broadmore it's about .25 miles away and the owners provided a bike and helmet which meant the "commute" took about 3 minutes.
Just as an FYI it is the finished basement of the owners home and there was a little bit of noise as far as hearing footsteps in the evening, absolutely not noisy enough to keep you awake or be disturbing but might be bothersome for a couple looking for a romantic getaway.
Was greeted with a bowl of nuts, candy, sparkling water and delicious chocolate chip cookies, which was a fantastic welcome after a day of traveling. Enjoyed the beautiful view across the valley on the private porch and reading a book on the hammock. Appreciated the fan in the bedroom and the toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, lotion, sunscreen) in the bathroom.
This was our second stay at The Blue Gate. We love to stay here because of its location to hiking trails and all the tourist attractions. It's an easy walk to the Broadmoor to grab a quick lunch or elegant dinner. Our "apartment" had everything we needed. We especially enjoyed sitting on the deck outside watching the sun going down over the mountains. The view is awesome! We'll definately stay at The Blue Gate again when we visit Colorado Springs.
We are located in a semi alpine area teeming with deer and wildlife. Hiking and sight seeing abound. A short drive to Downtown Colorado Springs brings you to interesting restaurants and shops.
Brief walk to Broadmoor Hotel/Resort for conference attendees. Walk to the Broadmoor Carriage Museum, Broadmoor Chapel, Summit or Tavern Restaurants, the Shops at the Broadmoor or stroll around the Broadmoor Lake.
