Our beautiful home has a fresh new look as of March 2017. Your quarter mile paved drive down the scenic driveway leading to the Lake House is only the beginning to your incredible stay in this welcoming home. The House at Lakeshore is a beautiful lake front home with approximately 3000 square feet and large deck overlooking the lake. The deck is equipped with a partially glassed outdoor dining area, gas grill, outdoor Jacuzzi hot tub and comfortable patio furniture for relaxing your day away. This retreat home has breathtaking, wide open views across the lake. If you enjoy fishing be sure to bring your gear or boat with trolling motor. The master bedroom has an incredible view of the lake through six foot wide glass doors with a hot tub just outside for your enjoyment. The house is two stories with living rooms and bedrooms on each floor. There are two full baths upstairs with walk in shower and built in benches and one full bath lower level with walk in shower and a jetted tub for relaxing your cares away. Those romantic candlelit dinners could be topped off by a glorious sunset! In addition, there is a front load washer and dryer just off the kitchen for your convenience.

The House at Lakeshore offers something for each family member, several board games, cornhole, foosball, ping pong, lots of movies with a wide selection of Disney for the youngsters. Free WiFi and cable are also available as well as library/office combination for some quiet reading time. Off the downstairs living room there is a private sitting area outside with a peaceful wicker swing overlooking the lake.

The House at Lakeshore was fully remodeled in 2010 with the completion in January 2011. Updated Jan 2014 with the third bathroom lower level. Fresh new look and decor in 2016. It is beautiful. Included in the remodel are new granite counter tops, red oak hardwood floors and lovely tiled kitchen and bathrooms.

About Larry Wiley

My wife Pam and I, own and manage the property. I am a Doctor of Pharmacy and owner of Wiley’s Pharmacy in Altamont, Tennessee. Pam owns Tin Roof, (a Primitives and Antique Gift Shop.) Located inside the pharmacy in Altamont, TN. I have lived in this area all my life with the exception of College years. My personal residence is on the lake as well, so I am available to answer with knowledge most of your questions about this beautiful area I call home.

I am involved with mission work here at home and in other countries including Guatemala, Haiti, Mexico, Africa, Europe, and Israel and enjoy exploring this great nation America every chance I get. I must add though even with my extensive travels there is no place like the simplistic beauty and peaceful living this area affords. It allows me the opportunity to enjoy my passion for fishing, hiking and golfing. Living in the midst of Tennessee State and National Parks is a blessing. Just Google the Cumberland Plateau to find out about this amazing area.

I have three grown children and two grandchildren. I raised exotic animals for years including Zebra’s, black face sheep, Z-donks, Llamas, goats, donkeys and white fallow deer.

I am a committed Christian and am very active in my church.

My goals are simple in this season of my life:

•Work Hard •Play More Often •Enjoy Life Daily.

Larry Wiley purchased this house in 2005

Why Larry Wiley chose Middle

I chose this property so I could share my love for this area with others. Our lake house is one of the best kept secrets in the area. Having a private, fenced in, twenty three acre home on Big Creek Lake (73 acre lake) is a jewel. People that come up for a visit want to move here because of all the beauty, wildlife and just a relaxed environment to share with their family. Mountain living but with the option of fine dining, exploring the National Parks or flea market shopping. Going into the city of Chattanooga or Nashville for the day enjoying the local culture and museums is also an option. I believe this retreat is a getaway families will enjoy together through all the activities available, the modern amenities and just the ability to sit and listen to the music of nature whether it is the wind whispering through the trees or the geese letting you know they are about to land on the lake. The House at Lakeshore just keeps it simple in a very hectic world. Simple is good.

What makes this house unique

I believe one of the unique benefits of the lake house is the quiet. There is a peaceful calm and serenity here that’s priceless! Fresh air, rejuvenation and the enjoyment of nature are a few things that come to mind when I think of lakeside living. This is Mountain Life at its Finest!

Guestbook comments from the owner

Unlike any rental we have ever stayed at. We feel as if we were visitors in your home with the fresh cut flowers and great muffins. Thanks Pam. We came with the intentions of hiking and taking pictures of waterfalls in the area, after arriving @ The Beautiful House at Lakeshore we didn't need to go anywhere else. Pam, the house is so pretty with antique furniture and décor. We were comfortable no matter where we were especially on the most amazing deck. B

VRBO Bear stayed here

Mar 15, 2013

I needed a vacation to ease me out of a long winter of hibernation. I was looking for a place with lots of access to nature, near a lake full of fish and geese; a place where I could relax and ease into spring. Boy, did I find the perfect place in Southeast Tennessee at the House on Lakeshore. I was impressed by the information I found on line for this VRBO listing. When I got there, I was even more impressed. I was greeted with a basket full of fresh baked blueberry and poppy seed muffins, a breakfast starter kit, and some bathing essentials. The blueberry muffins were made with blueberries that came from the property and were delicious. After settling in the very spacious two story lake house, I noticed there were incredible views of the lake from the master bedroom, kitchen, and an expansive back porch. The front porch has a great view of the fenced in goats and donkeys that reside on the property. Every bed was comfortable and relaxing. We enjoyed sleeping in every morning and waking to the calls of geese as they swooped in to land in the lake each morning. I spent several mornings fishing off the pier on the property and then ventured into the lake on one of two paddle boats. Exploring the lake was a blast and also good exercise. Several days were spent doing nature hikes in the area. There were falls and creeks to explore as well as cliffs to climb, and photos to take of the amazing geography. Every evening I took advantage of the warm hot tub on the back deck as well as grilling up some choice entrees for dinner on the outdoor grill. When I wanted to play games, I had my choice of ping pong, foosball, corn hole, various board games, and checkers. When I wanted to kick back and relax, I had a hammock, porch swing, a nice selection of movies and several TVs to choose from. I also had access to a fully equipped kitchen and the nearby towns had nice restaurants and grocery stores to make this feel like home. I was so refreshed after my time here and would highly recommend this place to anyone wanting to relax and get away. It is especially good for reunions, family vacations, couples getaway, etc. I would love to come back and visit again one day and finish seeing the rest of the surrounding countryside in this beautiful part of the Cumberland Plateau. SO much more than we expected! This is a slice of paradise......

  • 5 of 5

Where to start? First, the pictures do not do this property justice, it is immaculate and offers more than the pictures convey. Our family of 10, 6 adults and 4 grandchildren ranging in age from 3 to 10 had all the space and privacy we needed. The house is sound, so those sleeping downstairs aren't disturbed by those upstairs as the bedrooms are on opposite ends of the house, (important if you have littles that still nap!). We fished, kayaked, paddle-boated and canoed, made s'mores around the fire pit, grilled out, fed the goats and donkeys and the kids loved picking fresh blueberries for blueberry pancakes in the morning. Having the library with excellent reading material and movies to watch during the occasional thunderstorm only enhanced our experience. And after everyone was down for the night, I got to unwind in the hot tub! The peace and tranquility of this little slice of paradise will not disappoint you. This is by far, the best vacation rental I've stayed yet and my group can't wait to return! Thanks so much Larry for your hospitality!

Our time at Lakeshore

  • 5 of 5

This property is absolutely beautiful and immaculate. Home is equip with all you will need. Fishing is fun but don't expect to get the big one:( It was one of the most relaxing trips we have been on. Great for large groups too. Greeter Falls is a great place to hike and see nature.

You have to go to Beersheba Springs to Mountain Home Gifts and see Ms. Tommye. She has some amazing art pieces and will give you a tour of her historic home. Then go to Mayhew Pottery and see Mr. Phil. What an interesting man! He has some beautiful porcelain items for sale also.

It was a great week and we did not want to go home. Book this one - you will not be disappointed!

The house is amazing.

  • 4 of 5

Our family of 14 had a great time this past week. This house has plenty of room for a large group.

The five boys ( 10 and under) could be found playing basketball fishing or swimming all week. A lot of times we would just set on the porch looking out at the water.

Thank you for letting out family stay in your house for the week. We all had a wonderful time.

Wonderful home. Wonderful experience.

  • 5 of 5

The homeowners thought of everything! We had two children under the age of 7 and never ran out of things to keep them entertained. The only thing we would change is the length of our stay. We weren't ready to go home!!

Fun for all ages!!!

Wow Wow Wow!

  • 5 of 5

Larry met us at the property when we arrived, he explained all the ins & outs and was very welcoming.

Larry & Pam really did think of everything! We enjoyed the paddle boat, kayak and fishing off the dock during the day, at night we enjoyed the fire pit, s'mores and tons of laughter.

My kids named every single donkey and goat and enjoyed feeding them daily. The hot tub and a glass a wine was the perfect way to wind down the day.

I own and operate two vacation rentals in Nashville Tn and it's obvious they take a lot of pride in hosting, as we do.

The best part was just creating those family memories. At the end of the day, that's what it's all about.

Thank you for sharing your home with my family. We all hope to return soon. :)

Beyond Wonderful! We'd Do It Again In A Heart Beat!

  • 5 of 5

Our family spent the first week-end in March in this unbelievable home and it was more than we ever could have dreamed. It looked wonderful on line...but once there...it was well beyond what we anticipated. Our family was 14 strong from ages 7 to 70 and there was something there for everyone and it was all right at our finger tips. The grand kids loved the canoes and kayaks and we brought carrots & apples and had so much feeding the goats & donkeys. We did it all...corn hole, the tandem bike, basketball, campfires with s'mores, the hot tub, enjoying lunch on the expansive deck, hiking at the nearby state park. There was plenty of room and we found ourselves in groups talking which is what families do best. It was unanimous that our family will return to this beautiful lake home. Making the arrangements with the owners was a breeze and they even left us home-made blueberry muffins. This is a spacious home with plenty of beds, two refrigerators, and lots of room for everyone to spread out and not feel cramped. We traveled from 3 hours away and it was more than worth the drive. If you are looking for a place to get away from the hustle and bustle of life and spend time refreshing and relaxing this is it...don't think twice...just make your reservation today!
