I am a scientist, organic chemist, and work at a biotech in San Diego. My wife Maggi, is a Realtor in San Diego and Mary is a geologist and owner of her own company. We jointly own this property. We love nature, kayaking, scuba, snorkeling, hiking, swimming, dining, entertaining and meeting interesting people.
Margaret Kawasaki purchased this house in 2004
We were mesmerized by the natural beauty of Loreto Bay. We found the people of Loreto Bay and Loreto so interesting, engaging, and friendly. A short drive (about 7 min) to the new Loreto international airport, 10 min to town.
A very short walk to the beach (107 yd). Long walks on the beach in the sun or long days just being on the beach under the palapas. Kayak trips that last for hours. We typically see abundant wildlife: dolphins, fish, rays, birds. Whale-watching (Jan-Mar) is incredible and requires only about a 3 hour drive on excellent roads to the Pacific Ocean (you can book a trip or drive yourself). Loreto Bay is a golfer's paradise! End the day in our viewing tower with spectacular views of the mountains and ocean.
We went down to Loreto to enjoy a long Thanksgiving weekend. The house is perfect for cooking and making drinks at home or close enough to the town of Loreto to enjoy one of the great restaurants. We spent our sunsets up in the viewing tower with homemade guacamole and a margarita, then would head into town for a nice dinner. We took advantage of the fishing, golfing and the beach that is within walking distance. We really enjoyed our stay here and look forward to our next visit.
Our comfortable vacation at Bahia Encantada Casa provided the perfect way to relax without a car. We took a taxi to & from the airport, but stayed in Loreto Bay for our entire week. Restaurants are close by with excellent food. We could snorkel from the beach, and Desert & Sea Expeditions picked us up on the beach for a half day tour of Islas Carmen and Danzante. We very much enjoyed our stay.
Margaret's house is lovely and well maintained. It comes equipped with all the necessary basics and is located very conveniently to both the pools and the beach.
Beautiful property, nicely decorated, spacious, close to bay. Very comfortable and private. We loved it and would return again.
My husband and I very much enjoyed our stay at Loreto Bay! This property is gorgeous. We had everything we needed. The courtyard was a pleasant surprise, much better than anticipated! The townhouse would be perfect for two couples, with two master suites that are completely private! The beach is beautiful and a short walk from the townhouse. This property and surrounding area are meticulously cared for! We love Baja and look forward to returning to Loreto Bay!
I'm a very picky traveler who has stayed at many VRBO properties throughout North America and Europe. The Loreto Bay/Loreto area in general is fantastic and this particular property is one of those rare ones that closely match the photos and description. It's always a relief when you arrive to see that the property is as it was advertised. The exception was the bedrooms and bathrooms are a little darker than we expected, but my assumption is they are designed that way to keep out the heat.
Pros: Good location within the development. Clean. Quiet. Beach and pools close by. Well designed and well appointed villa, perfect for 2 couples or a family of 4. The outdoor BBQ was much appreciated and used frequently, but it really needs some outdoor lighting so you can see what you are doing when it gets dark. The 2nd floor patio was great to get some sun on the day or two when it was quite windy on the beach. The kitchen is mostly well appointed. The open air courtyard (and water fountain) is great, as is the mountain views from the viewing tower.
Cons: There were a few minor issues which keep me from rating this property a full 5 out of 5. When we arrived there was very little toilet paper, several lights were burnt out and the toilet in the half bath was not working. These are property management issues which they need to be a bit more on top of after mentioning it the toilet was fixed by our 2nd day. My wife and I are real foodies who prefer to entertain at home instead of eating out and we appreciated that the kitchen is mostly well appointed. The exception is the non-stick pots and pans have definitely seen better days and badly need to be replaced. The fridge was also incredibly loud at times but as you can see I'm getting very, very picky.
Other notes on Loreto Bay: The golf course is a real mixed bag. It's not busy at all, which is great. The front 9 is very disappointing (poor condition and layout) but the back 9 more than makes up for it. If possible do a boat trip out to Coronado island and if you want to eat out in town, Mi Loreto has amazing food at a decent price. One last point.. watch out for the sand flies / no see ums! At the end of our trip I had 60+ bites on the lower half of my body. It was a small price to pay for a great holiday.
Overall we'd gladly consider returning to this property. If you've never been to Loreto Bay, do go, but let's keep it a secret - this is how Mexico should be.
