Welcome to The Wildflower on Abrams Creek! The Wildflower is a glamping (glamorous camping) experience in the eastern panhandle of West Virginia. The Wildflower is the future home to multiple unique glamping structures, but for the time being, is home exclusively to the aframe.
While only 108 sq feet, the aframe is packed with beauty and comforts that you otherwise would not find while this close to nature. And yes, we are dog friendly!
● Inside the Aframe ●
Upon arrival, you'll use a smart lock to enter into the front door of the aframe. A queen size bed awaits with luxury linens and comfortable pillows. You'll find morning basics such as a French press with Mountaineer Roasting Co. coffee, a kettle for tea or other hot beverages, and utensils for any snacks or meals you packed.
There is an overhead light, bedside reading lamps, USB chargers on either side of the bed, and an overhead fan that are all solar powered. Remember that your energy comes from the sun - turn off electronics when they're not in use so you'll have power when you need it! Lanterns are available on either side of the bed in case you do run out of energy.
When the weather is right, please enjoy the indoor/outdoor design of this unique aframe and open up the entire right side of the structure! Unhook the latches on the floor, give the large door a push out, and extend the support wheel until it locks in place. Reverse this process when you're ready to close the door. There are curtains you can close for privacy as you see fit.
A wood fired stove is available year round, whether you're visiting in the middle of winter or just want an extra cozy summer night. We provide firewood for the stove free of charge. Wood is provided inside the aframe and can be refilled with the small wood pieces in the storage box by the deck. Please note, this wood is for the fireplace only and cannot be used anywhere else. A quick tutorial on how to use the stove can be accessed through a QR code located near the fireplace.
A curated selection of books and games are available for guests to enjoy.
We're dog friendly! Please feel free to bring along your furbabies, but ensure that you pick up after them even outside the aframe. We've provided doggy bags to make this as convenient as possible.
● Outside the Aframe ●
Enjoy the creek view from the deck while sitting out on the Adirondack chairs. Prepare meals on the grill with all the necessities such as a steel skillet, pot, and grill utensils; or get a little more adventurous and use the campfire cooking grate to prepare your dinner over an open campfire. Play a game or two of cornhole under the cafe lights before retiring to the campfire. Log benches surround the campfire but you're of course welcome to bring your own favorite camp chair.
A clean and regularly serviced port-a-potty is available for your use. We use a flushable port-a-potty when outdoor temperatures are above freezing and a regular port-a-potty during the winter months. Please note, it is not heated and will be quite chilly in the wintertime. We also supply shampoo, conditioner, and body wash May through October for creek bathing. We've made sure to stock biodegradable brands so you can clean up while still respecting nature.
There is no drinking water available on the property -- this is a truly off-grid experience. Please bring enough water for your stay. Should you need to buy more water, there is information in the guidebook to the closest store (less than 10 minutes) with great hours for you to stock up. More water is a good excuse for other snacks and beverages too!
You are welcome to bring your own campfire wood for outdoor campfires (we supply for the inside stove) or purchase wood onsite for $6 a bucket. Cash or payment via app is available. We ask that you please refrain from cutting trees or branches.
● The Waterfront ●
You're going to love all that Abrams Creek has to offer! Head down the earthen stairs just next to the aframe to access the swimming hole and waterfront campfire ring. You can climb up the large rocks and jump into 5-6 foot deep water. For those less interested in swimming, dip your toes into crystal clear water while enjoying a creekside campfire. See how many fish you can spot as you sit and watch the creek babble by.
Please note, waterfront hours are dawn to dusk and swimming is at your own risk.
We supply two beach towels and a doggy towel during the months of May through October.
● Accessing the Property ●
We will provide you with step-by-step instructions for the last few minutes of your drive to the aframe. While roads are paved through town, the road to our property and the driveway down are both very steep gravel roads. All-wheel drive or four-wheel drive is required, especially during the winter months.
You have access to all 20+ acres of the property. We hope you enjoy exploring the woods and waterfront.
