Disfrute de la belleza natural de las montañas de la enorme terraza con vista a las montañas Blue Ridge. Mientras disfruta de la amplia vista desde la terraza se puede asar el pescado del día o relajarse en la bañera de hidromasaje grande. Dentro del plan de piso abierto nivel, principal permite que todos estén juntos. Dispara a la piscina, disfrutar de la chimenea, o cocinar la cena de Acción de Gracias en la misma habitación! Si no puedes dejar la oficina, hay una bonita en Bear Rest. The place is secluded and the views are as advertised! The house was great and very comfortable. Plenty to do while we were there. It was a great weekend!

Great cabin, great location, super clean place.

My family and me stayed at this house fourth of July weekend of 2020. The check in and check out process was seamless, and painless. The house was incredibly clean. The location is excellent, super tucked away, and peaceful. There was great hiking just down the street, and the Jacuzzi was great to soothe muscles after the hikes. This place is the real deal and we will be back.

Bday Weekend Bliss

This property is absolutely perfect. I wanted a spacious, yet cozy cabin with a great view - I wanted to feel immersed in the mountains and Bear Rest definitely fulfilled that! There were 5 of us and we had PLENTY of space. The beds were comfy and the cabin was clean. Check in couldn't be easier, either. I would definitely stay here again.

Amazing View

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Great location and view!!! This property is about 4 miles into the development, so about a 15 minute drive. No other homes in sight, which was refreshing. Not anyone's fault, but the stink bugs are everywhere. We were warned about them, but keep that in mind... they DO get inside. Some of the furniture seemed a bit old. Gas fireplace was awesome, but mainly for aesthetics, not heat. Pool table and ping pong as well as bow flex. The hot tub was awesome!!! Sitting in it at night while gazing at millions of stars was a highlight.Would definitely stay here again...

Beautiful property and location but some issues with stay

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was clean. I was very happy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: While the resort, location, and home was beautiful, we did have some issues with our stay and shared this with the resort team. Unfortunately the dog bath and cleaning area is in the same space as the Laundry Room which we tried to use while we were there. There were live fleas everywhere in the Utility Room of course it made us concerned about carrying fleas back home and up into the living spaces. We did not have dogs so these were brought in by former guests I am assuming. The grill was fine upon visual inspection but once we turned on the fire and added our food the drip pan caught fire due to built up grease that hadn't been cleaned in what looks like quite some time. The Jacuzzi was a great thing to enjoy during our stay at the cover is too small and there is a moldy heavy splintered board to cover the back side. It made it a little difficult to get in-and-out of the Jacuzzi and keep it covered and also created a pretty significant moldy smell while we were trying to enjoy the Jacuzzi itself.

Beautiful location and lovely house!

This house is in an absolutely beautiful spot with amazing views! The house was lovely. We enjoyed the gas fireplace, pool table, nearby hiking trails, and hot tub. The TV is not a smart TV (can't connect to Netflix, Hulu, etc), but there is a large collection of DVDs and VHS, which we enjoyed picking from every evening! Overall we had a good stay and would go back in the future. Things we noted: 1) Kitchen is generally well equipped, but not a good chopping knife. If you plan to cook a lot during your stay, it may be worth it to bring one (I would have, had I known). 2) The hot tub was HUGE and a lovely feature, but it definitely could use a deep clean. Perhaps fulling draining , cleaning, and refilling? The water was not the clearest and there was a filmy layer you could feel inside of the hot tub. Nothing that kept us from using it, just needed to shower well after use. 3) Having hiking trails we could just walk to from the house was great! But we found that while the trailheads (and where different trails meet) were well marked, the trails themselves were not. And one of the trails that we were on was not well maintained throughout (at one point we thought we were off it because we were so close to another house and the path was not clear). 4) Location is remote. This was lovely! But just a note to make sure you bring all essentials, because if you end up needing anything, you will have to drive a ways to get it. From the entrance of the resort area to the house is about a 15 minute drive on windy roads.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The location of the cabin is great. The management is great but the owner needs to takes some steps before we come back. We have stayed at several cabins in leatherwood and this was our lease favorite. Towels were discolored and frayed. No icemaker and no warning and ice is not easy to get to. The kitchen a disaster. Needs clean out and organizing. Stuff just thrown in drawers. several light bulbs out (including over dining talbe). minimal storage in the master for hanging as the full closet is locked. Note on fridge beware of loose panel? no idea where it was located. Yard a mess. Not cut when we arrived, over grown driveway and the back not cut back at all. small blood stains on the master bed mattress cover we discovered when removed the sheets when we left. Minimal laundry detergent which would not be a problem, but we are required to start the laundry and we did most of it before we left. The cabin was clean and plenty of room and the amenities are great but the above items show to me the owners are not allowing for upkeep. The management of leatherwood is amazing and as I said we have visited most year two times except for covid time and all the other cabins we have stayed in have been amazing. Thank you to Sue for her continued professional demeanor. You are the best!

Perfect mountain vacation

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This was a birthday gift for my husband and it couldn’t have been more perfect. The weather was cool but great hiking weather. We loved hiking the trailing and wished we could have extended our stay a few more days, however the cabin was already rented. The VIEW was amazing, and we really enjoyed the hot tub. A huge bonus, is that it snowed the morning we were to leave for a few hours but it was not enough snow to keep us from leaving.

A little disappointed

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We were really excited about this trip as we LOVE horses, fishing, and outdoor activities this resort offers. When we pulled up to the cabin I was in shock to see the grass knee high, the yard have several piles of dog feces (15-20 piles FYI) and the ground moved due to the amount of yellow jackets. I contacted the office the next day as there were a few other things that needed to be addressed. 2 maintenance guys came a short time later to fix the grill and stated they would be back to cut the grass and remove the dog waste. That should resolve the bee issue. They came back and used a weed eater to cut the grass by the sidewalk only, left ALL the dog feces and never came back or asked if there was anything else. That was very disappointing to us. Now everyone at the stables and in the office/grill area are fabulous. Top notch customer service. I really enjoyed the concept this resort is going for but the cabins could use better cleaners and some upgrades. We left early

Not a maid.

Outdoor grill had food leftover from the prior renters. Hot tub water was cloudy and looked unclean. All the bathrooms showers were not up to grade with the rest of the house, too small and no water pressure and I was scared I would fall through the floor. Not sure why I had to pay a cleaning fee when I was asked to do laundry (which they left empty detergent bottles) and I had to take out the trash. The yard needed mowing I guess I should be glad they did not charge me and have that on the check out list. The back yard was creepy and overgrown. I would not rent this house again. I am not a maid.

Fun getaway

The property was just as described. We had a great time. The grandkids loved the pool table, ping pong table and hiking. They were also able to do virtual school. The views are fantastic. I want to return in the summer and fall. Some of the furniture needs updating ( like the basement futon). Needed at least one larger sauce pan. The management was super responsive to any request for help. We will be back. ( we did not have cell service, but internet was good.)

Great location for a getaway

This is the perfect place to get away. Total privacy and the cabin was perfectly described. The only downside was the hot tub. It smelled like mildew. I think it was because they don’t have the appropriate cover on it. However, the view is absolutely beautiful and serene. We went fishing and everyone on staff was kind and helpful. The house must have had great pest control because we had no issue with bugs, including mosquitoes. The kitchen was full of good pots/pans/utensils. Bring any spices and a good knife. The grill worked well and they had plenty of propane. They had extra blankets and pillows as well. There are tons of DVDs to choose from and the WiFi was very fast. They even provide satellite tv. We will absolutely stay here again.

The most peaceful place

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We spent 5 days with my family at Bear Rest. We never imagined it was going to be so peaceful and relaxing. We really needed this time. The house is beautiful, comfortable and spacious. The views are amazing and it feels that you are alone in the middle of the forest. We didn't get to enjoy any of the amenities because they were all closed but it looked like everything was well maintained. I would highly recommend this place!

Great stay at Bear Rest

Our family of 6 (2 parents and 4 young adults) enjoyed our stay. We have rented at Leatherwood several times, and all have been enjoyed. This was the first time renting a "pet friendly" home. It even has a "doggie bathtub/shower"! It had the very basic amenities, but you must bring soap, salt/pepper, sugar, aluminum foil, etc. It did have a hair dryer in the bathroom. Although it was too cold to enjoy the lovely deck, we enjoyed gas fireplace, the pool table, ping pong table, movies, and trail rides. The only disadvantage is it is quite a ways from the barns. It is a great home for a quiet, relaxing stay in a beautiful setting.
