About this property
" The Rusted Barn "
About this space
Welcome to "The Rusted Barn"! Nestled in the Missouri Ozarks just a stones throw away from beautiful Lake of the Ozarks and only a hop-skip & a jump from Truman Lake. "The Rusted Barn" is a labor of love designed to take you back to a simpler, quieter time. There are so many things to do including fishing, boating, water/jet skiing, hiking, horse back riding, homestead classes, mountain/scenic biking, para-sailing, antiquing or shopping in Osage Beach, Warsaw or even Bass Pro Shop & Branson.
The space
This cabin is a small house on the owner’s property that will sleep 6 people. It features an open concept floor plan, has a fully equipped kitchen, private bathroom, large enclosed porch area, and a private room with a jacuzzi bath tub. It also has a fenced in back yard with an outdoor table and chairs for 6 people, as well as a fire pit for roasting marshmallows, and a charcoal grill.
Guest access
As a guest, you will have full access of the cabin, back yard area of the cabin, and your own area to park. The cabin is also just about 5 miles from lake access and boat launch area.
Other things to note
The owners also offer the opportunity to order breakfast, boxed lunch, or supper for an additional charge. For more information, you will need to contact the owners.
In addition, the owners are members of Forbes Lake of the Ozarks and can get you a guest pass to use during your stay. This will give you access to 3 private lakes, a camp ground area that has a play ground, soft ball diamond and tennis courts.

About the host
Hosted by Tammy Thomas

Hello! We are Tim & Tammy Thomas. We have been married for 33 years, have two grown children, and one grand baby, Tim was born and raised just a few miles away from our Homestead and Tammy was born and raised in rural Oklahoma. We both have fond memories of our Country upbringing!
We both come from very strong Christian Homes where there was no question about priorities; God first, then Family and finally Career. We were both very close to our Grandparents. Memories of milking the cow, hauling hay, crappie fishing, butchering hogs, shucking corn, breaking green beans, picking black berries and making sauerkraut seem like only yesterday. This is no doubt why we have so much love and interest in the past.
After High School we both attended college & had long and successful careers in the Education field before retiring a couple years ago.
After retirement from public education, we knew we wanted to continue to work and challenge ourselves. Hospitality and serving others has always been something that we both enjoy very much. Cooking for company has a way of taking us back to our Granny's house. Sunday afternoons were big meals with some of the best Home Style cooking you can imagine. The food wasn’t fancy…but it was the Best! Fried Chicken, Mashed Potatoes and Gravy, Crowder Peas, Asparagus, Mac n Cheese, Homemade Rolls, Peach Cobbler or Strawberry-Rhubarb Pie with Vanilla Ice Cream! But, the best part of all was just Visiting around the table!
So, this is the simple life that we want to offer folks. Our “Rusted Barn” is a throwback to years gone-by with Rustic Decor from top to bottom! Our “Homestyle Food” is just like Granny's. We would love to share some of our simple, wonderful life with you and your Family!
Our promise is to treat you like Family and our Goal is to take you back to a time in the not so distant past. A time that you may remember fondly as well, so that you want to come visit us time and time again!

Tim and Tammy Thomas
Why they chose this property
Tim grew up in this area and Tammy joined him over 30 years ago when they got married. It is one of the most beautiful areas in the United States where people are kind and a little "old fashioned"! We love being close to the lake and nature where we can fish & hunt. We love hearing tree frogs at night and it being dark enough outside where we can see the stars!
What makes this property unique
Our cabin is a throwback to the "old days!" It is uniquely decorated with antiques that either been passed down to us from our family or items we have collected. One of the best amenities we offer is our food! When you want to be in a quiet location away from the hustle and bustle of life, you often sacrifice the convenience of having restaurants and fast food nearby. We have solved that problem! We offer breakfast, boxed lunches, and supper for a cheaper price than you can get eating out, not to mention the fact that it is all homemade and tastes much better! If you don't want to, you do not ever have to leave the property! You can "hole" up for the weekend and we will take care of you and your family! The other thing that is unique to us is that we greet you when you arrive. We introduce ourselves, show you around the property, how things work, where things are stored & answer questions you may have. We also provide you with fresh homemade cookies and cold water!
