Very well equipped
Great views and location close to restaurants. Can’t wait to get back!
Beautiful spacious home in a spectacular oceanfront location !
Casa Rubio met all our expectations and then some! The home is exactly as pictured and was well equipped for all our needs. Melissa was responsive, helpful and very accomodating. We were travelling with our three adult children and this house provided space and comfort for all. Our kids love to cook so we made good use of the well-equipped kitchen. We also had a delicious and entertaining meal prepared for us by Dixie, a private chef recommended by Melissa. The location was just perfect for us...out of the tourist fray yet walking distance to either West End or West Bay along the beach...and a quick water taxi ride back to the dock with the provisions. This was ideal so that we could easily go exploring at our leisure. There is great snorkeling right from the dock or you can rent a kayak to paddle out and tie up to a buoy and explore the reef. We did diving certifications with Clearwater Divers just 200 M down the beach and they were wonderful! There is a small quiet beach right in front with lounge chairs, but after diving we just preferred to lounge about on the house's huge deck and cool off in the plunge pool or in the shade. There are houses close by on either side yet it still felt very private. Be aware that the stairs down to the beach are about 2 stories high, so not ideal for the mobility impaired. We decided at the last minute not to rent a car and to use the driving service that Melissa recommended. Best decision!! Even as experienced rural drivers, I would not have been comfortable driving those roads...steep, narrow, and full of huge potholes. We could not have asked for more for our Roatan vacation and we hope to be back at Casa Rubio again soon!
I'm thrilled to hear that you enjoyed your stay to the full. You're right. This location can't be beat. Thanks for being excellent guests. Hope to see you again soon.
Beautiful house, perfect location
This is our second time staying at Casa Rubio, the first was two years ago. Owners have done a wonderful upgraded to the house, making it even better than our first stay! Additions include an expanded deck, with Pool! As well as an added bathroom and upgraded/remodeled kitchen. Every bedroom now has an in suite bathroom. There's even a brand new gas BBQ on the deck.
Melissa was prompt on all our questions and needs. She can help book excursions and even arrange transport to and from airport or any activities you have planned.
Location is smack dab in between West End and West Bat. Convenience without the touristy crowds
Nothing's perfect, but Casa Rubio comes awfully close!
My family and I have rented Casa Rubio the past two years and absolutely love the property. The house is beautifully furnished, the location is ideal (halfway between West Bay and West End – a 5-minute water taxi ride will get you to either location), the lovely beach has glorious snorkeling right off-shore, and that amazing deck with breathtaking sunsets and the new splash pool make this the best house on Roatan.
The property manager, Melissa, is always available via email or phone, and works hard to ensure you've got what you need. Even when she happens to be out of town (like she was on our most recent visit), she kept in contact daily to make sure we were all set. Juan Carlos, who helps maintain the property, is also extremely kind and helpful.
Ask Melissa for Desirée's contact information – Desi will take a list of shopping from you and make sure the house is stocked with food and drinks so you don't have to go to Eldon's grocery store, or have to make daily trips to the West End village for supplies! Desi will pay for your groceries/alcohol and you pay her back (in cash) the total of the groceries plus 20% for her time. She'll give you the receipt from the shopping trip so you know you're paying for what you asked for.
There are a few small things to be aware of when staying here:
- The drinking water hook-up is housed in the smallest guest room's closet, and it has a loud motor. Whenever the refrigerator is making ice (several times a night) or if someone is getting a glass of water, the motor is loud enough to wake you up.
- There are palm trees and other landscaping that can scrape against the roof of the smallest guest room during storms or windy nights, so if you're a light sleeper, choose the larger guest room across the hall.
- The AC unit in the larger guest room is very loud.
- If you like to cook, be prepared to bring your own knives. While the house comes equipped with knives, they're not great quality. (We brought a knife sharpener with us on our last visit, and while that helped, the knives are not useful for chopping vegetables).
- Be prepared to buy your own soap and cooking essentials (spices, cooking oil) – the house does not come with those items.
We truly love this home and our time spent in Roatan, and know you will too!
Absolutely beautiful property and the house. Everything you need at your fingertips great location
Property manager Melissa is great in attending too any of our needs at anytime, had all information available before we even Asked the question. A plus was that we had a local cell phone and Melissa would call us or we could call her if we had a question. Which was provided by Casa Rubio. Juan the grounds keeper was amazing and friendly when we needed something. This is one of the best locations that we have ever stayed at. A short walk to west bay and a even shorter water taxi ride to west end from the dock. Clean beach and snorkeling right from your house.
Beautiful home in immaculate condition.
Perfect location for walking the beach to West Bay, West End or Gumbalimba Park. The house was very comfortable for our group of 5 and was immaculately kept anc maintained. Melissa (property manager) was prompt at responding to all emails before, during, and after our stay. Her suggestions for excursions and her help in arranging them was very much appreciated. We were well taken care of and always felt safe and secure. We found the best snorkeling was just to the right of the Blue Channel, an easy paddle from the house. We rented paddle boards from Steve’s paddleshack in West End. Having a phone and 3 GB of internet provided made for easy access to local services. Melissa was attentive and arranged all of our transportation for us according to our wishes. Juan Carlos (gardener) brought us fruit and gave us a coconut demonstration and drink. We could not have had a better week or better accommodation! A lovely home with great service. It met all our expectations and then some. Our experience could not have been better!
