Location! Location! Location! This is not the most luxurious property in Vail, but definitely one of the best located in the valley. I buy primarely based on location, and this one is a 41 second walk to the Ski Lifts! No more jammed shuttles/bus, just wake-up and you're on the slopes!

Just what you need

This is the 2nd time I've stayed in this specific apartment in the last 2 years. It's location on the 4th floor right next to all the restaurants was always very enjoyable. We could wake up early and go to the little diner, or just eat on the porch and enjoy the bands that play on the plaza. It's a great place to go to have the amenities you need to make your Vail stay a little more affordable and enjoyable. I'll definitely be back again next year too.

At best a mixed bag

Lifthouse Vail unit 408 Review

The whole Lifthouse property has a single overwhelming attribute which drives the vast majority of its value: location. The units are all essentially the same in terms of size and view overlooking the Arabelle. This is not my first Lifthouse rental.

This unit, like all of the others, delivers on location. The fireplace worked; the small TV was operational. The bed was comfortable. The location of the unit is nice and close to the elevator making access convenient from the slopes.

As a privately-owned unit within the complex parking is not included. The new ownership of the overall Lifthouse property seems pretty hostile to folks renting the private units, but you can attempt to procure parking as I did (when they attempted to charge me for four “days” of use for about 66 hours of parking) or you can park in the Vail Lionshead garage about 100 yards away. That distance is a moderate hassle if you are also trying to avail yourself of the kitchenette and need to haul food as well as your luggage and ski equipment. And if you try to just park quickly to load or unload, management within five minutes will slap your vehicle with a “notice” that they’ve contacted the Vail PD and intend to tow or ticket you. If you aren't bringing a vehicle, this doesn't matter.

This particular unit suffers from a lack of maintenance and things are pretty worn down. The battle against the mold and gunk in the bathroom is being lost. Two of the four dining chairs have lost the support in the seat, causing you to sink down quite lowly. One of the two burners of the stove was inoperable and not repaired during our stay. The hide-a-bed was practically unusable as there is greater than a 6” difference in height between one end and the other.

All in all, if you are looking at the Lifthouse, I’d just shop based on price. This unit is at best a mixed bag.
